Doctor Who The Other (War) Doctor 5″ Figure

Available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk

The ‘Other Doctor’ is the Doctor’s dark chapter, an _hitherto unknown incarnation whose existence he has spent centuries repressing, a secret he wants no one to know of.

He is a relic of the past, part of the great Time War, when he spent centuries fighting alongside his fellow Time Lords against the Daleks and made the final decision to end it with a desperate act that cost that incarnation the right to use the name “Doctor”.

This haunted and battle-worn Other Doctor is finally forgiven after helping find a new solution to end the war, giving the Eleventh Doctor a new purpose as he heads into further adventures.

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but when it arrives in the online warehouse on the 28th, is the figure released into the physical shop at the same time?

I think a ninth dr head would of been better so we can finish off what the episode didn’t do and the fact the 8th dr didn’t even wear this costume

merchandise guru, everyone has said. they made the figure before DOTD was on screen, but knew that mcgann would regenerate into him, so it is a bonus.

I like the new head for the 8th doctor, I might use it for a dark eyes custom.

That would of been FANTASTIC! (see what I did there) but Christopher Ecceleston wasn’t in the 50th so it might not have been legal for CO to have done that.

    • tardistakeoff

      February 22nd, 2014 - 12:00am

It wouldn’t really be better, we would have just got the ninth doctor head sculpt we’ve had before, whereas here we have a whole new eighth doctor head sculpt that has more possibilities, plus if you really are that bothered you could buy a ninth doctor figure online cheap and just hollow out the neck section

    • Robert10075

      February 23rd, 2014 - 5:46pm

merchandise guru is right 8th dr didn’t wear this costume at all. when he regenerated in the night of the dr he was wearing that werid version of the costume worn in the movie.

but if chris was in the episode they would of finished off the scene instead of editing his face in slightly and hed be wearing the costume

  • Jdogman

    February 20th, 2014 - 11:54am

I like to work my way around the inaccuracy with the 8th Doctor wearing the War Doctor’s costume by suggesting that 8 constantly changes his outfits and doesn’t really have one particular costume. This can be from the formal attire seen from The Movie to different variations and colours of it, to a more casual future kind of look with his Dark Eyes costume, then changing around and occasionally mixing styles similar to the War Doctor, and sometimes a new look version of his older outfits but done to look more adventurer, like the mini-sode

There’s no inaccuracy. It was Character being nice and including a nice extra opposed to yet another Ninth Doctor head.

If anything, it’s a nice touch for those who like to believe that Eight should have been the War Doctor.

This figure is amazing! The likeness to hurt is fantastic, the packaging is superb and the moment accessorie looks great! I just can’t believe that effort which has been put into this figure. If only they could do more figures in the 5″ line because this figure is amazing! Such a shame character let that detail go to make way for those dreadful new figures they’re releasing

I really hope Character see the excitement of this figure and how much people adore this figure, and they decide to bring back the 5″ line. But, I know as everyone keeps on saying: it is highly unlikely they will. But, on the other hand, we can still hope and pray for a new 13 doctors set or at least a 12th doctor in proper costume 5″ figure.

I TOTALLY agree. I think they should do a proper Paul Mcgann (The Night Of The Doctor) figure, and include a Peter Capaldi figure in 5″, and Matt Smith in his series 7 part 2 costume.

I love this figure, and I’ll definitely be buying it, despite the high price. I hope this indicates a 5 inch Capaldi but it’s unlikely. Whatever happens I’m going to be buying the 12th doctor in crombie coat 3.75 inch or not (as I have every other doctor figure) What do u guys think on 3.75 inch figures. My mum seems to think I’d be stupid buying them cuz they don’t fit with the other 500 or so 5 inch figures I have!

The new figures are pointless. And they are awful. I noticed this the other day, on the 5″ figures, there is a little sign on the packaging that says ‘HIGHLY DETAILED ACTION FIGURE!’ It doesn’t say that any more on the new 3.75″ figures, does it? I wonder why.

That’s one helluva good likeness of Hurt if that’s the finished figure. Better than the figure in the stock photos, in fact.

This constant complaining about the ‘inaccuracy’ of including the McGann head is truly baffling. Just buy it for the War Doctor figure and throw the McGann head away if it bothers you that much. Seems like a waste, but eh.
