Reeltime Pictures The Daemons of Devil’s End DVD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

You can also see books associated with this release at www.amazon.co.uk

This special DVD release contains two unique productions.

The first is the brand-new drama production WHITE WITCH OF DEVIL S END starring DAMARIS HAYMAN, who reprises her role as Olive Hawthorne from the DOCTOR WHO story THE DAEMONS. With a blend of dramatic monologue enhanced with visualisations and sound design to develop and tell the stories, the drama is an anthology of tales following the magical life of Olive Hawthorne, from childhood to her final days as the protector of Devil s End.

Drawing on a rich heritage and appreciation of witchcraft and fokelore, the stories bring Olive’s history to life, pitting her against vampire, succubus, fae, daemonic influence and more – as Guardian of Devil’s End, she must do what she must to protect the village … but what happens when she reaches the end of her life? Who will protect the townsfolk then?

The second is the long-awaited DVD release of the classic documentary RETURN TO DEVIL S END . Filmed around the village of Aldbourne in 1992, this marvellous production stars JON PERTWEE (The Third Doctor), NICHOLAS COURTNEY (The Brigadier), RICHARD FRANKLIN (Capt. Yates), JOHN LEVENE (Sgt. Benton) and THE DAEMONS director, CHRISTOPHER BARRY. NICHOLAS BRIGGS (currently the voice of the Daleks in DOCTOR WHO), takes the cast and director on a trip around the locations, deftly gleaning stories and anecdotes about filming the classic DOCTOR WHO series in 1971.

Including interviews with villagers and rare archive film and photos … this documentary is rightly considered one of the best behind-the-scenes look at the making of DOCTOR WHO ever produced.

Both discs are packed with bonus features, making this a totally unique production!

PLUS! A third bonus disc containing video of conventions held in Aldbourne to celebrate one of Doctor Who’s most fondly remembered stories.

Disc 1: White Witch of Devil s End – Drama, Weaving Magic – The Making of … ,The Scriveners – The writers tell their story, Linzi s Tune – Theme Music singer Linzi Gold Tells her story (inc. music video),

Disc 2: Return to Devil s End – Documentary, Recording the Return – Home video of the shoot, Reporting the White Witch – Damaris Hayman & David Simeon interview, Morris Men – A profile of the Headington Quarry Morris Dancers, who featured in The Daemons

Disc 3: The Daemons Revisited – Conventions at The Daemons location of Aldbourne village

Picked it up on HMV today for £9.99. Not sure why Amazon have it priced so high at £19.99? They generally tend to be cheaper than anywhere else.

Amazon put it down to £9.99 then up to £19.99 after release again, HMV had it sold out on line gut felling is there is a price error and that they are selling it to cheap especially as the separate releases are £9.99 without the bonus disc

I was happy to purchase from Galaxy 4 with the Exclusive Signed Insert Card of Damaris Hayman. It was the only reason I spent £20 with them than elsewhere.

      That would be nice.

What about BBV? I’m still hoping that Koch Media Re-release some of their works like the Auton Trilogy, The Airzone Solution, P.R.O.B.E, The Stranger, Cyberon and My personal favourite: Do You have a Licence to Save this Planet?

I spoke to Keith Barnfather at a signing at Galaxy 4 recently when daemons of devils end was released; he said they were indeed planning to complete the Doctors sets for all of the classic doctors – not sure if that includes McGann. He said they are working on a couple of other things – one being the monsters collection and another independent spin-off drama, though he was hush hush about this and said they are trying to get it done for next year in 2018.

“Replacement for the now cancelled White Witch of Devil’s End DVD”

Sort of … the WHITE WITCH OF DEVILS END is contained within this set, along with RETURN TO DEVILS END and a new video about other events held at Aldbourne.

So WHITE WITCH has not been cancelled … it’s very much alive and kicking 🙂

And check out the Novelisation coming from Telos Publishing too – two different editions: a Target-A-Like edition which mimics the look of the old Target Novelisations (specifically THE DAEMONS) and a Standard edition too with cover to match the DVD set.

Both available to preorder from http://www.telos.co.uk

Sorry for all the confusion everyone. THE DAEMONS OF DEVIL’S END is the culmination of an organic five year process.

Originally WHITE WITCH OF DEVIL’S END was intended a a simple little talking head peice from DAMARIS HAYMAN. It was shot in 2012, but due to both a longer running time than projected and other broadcast work commitments, we had to (as has been said) “put it on the back burner” until time permitted us to have a rethink.

Our distribution deal with Koch (they have, up until now, taken our archive product and repackaged it), brought it back into focus – as they asked us for new material.

So we revisited it and changed the style and format. We already had the main “to camera” peices by Damaris, but decided we needed to film recreations of her story from her POV to make it work. We also decided to make it episodic (as over two hours of material wouldn’t work as a single film).

Then finally, we decided to include RETURN TO DEVIL’S END in the release as the two productions complimented each other perfectly!

So there you go … THE DAEMONS OF DEVIL’S END was born! Over 5 hours of material – including 2 hours of a very original drama.

Really hope you all like it!

Shakedown is owned by jason haigh-ellery of big finish now i believe. Doubt if koch media would release it. But yes, we really need that released on dvd. And yes it’s only ever been released on vhs previously. Personally i would love koch media to do it as they’ve done a great job on the reeltime material so far

My only quibble with the mythmaker koch releases is i wish they did some form of update on the interviews, even a text based section detailing the actors lives post interview date would be nice

From talking to Galaxy 4, it seems Keith barnfather was struggling to complete the original release idea, i.e return as a solo release, witch as a solo and a double pack special at £30 due to work commitments. The success of the Koch media releases made him decide to release it as a single Three disc release through them and because of the Koch media distribution the price has dropped to £20

Thanks for this info. Didn’t really know (Or know how?) the Distribution works with these? I have seen previous release’s under Koch Media (And also presumed they did the Distribution for those) I presume these are being released by Reeltime but being distributed by Koch? Being listed on Amazon is great, but I think I’ll go with the Galaxy 4 Signed Edition.

Released under the Koch media label, (logo on the dvd) and therefore has a wider access to mainstream shops. Oh, and I’ve already ordered mine from Andy at Galaxy 4

Looks like due to various reasons the original release was delayed so they are now going for the full works box set

I wondered what was going on? I seem to remember this was announced back in 2013 or so, then it seemed to end up on the back burner with no news?
