While this was only released as one standard edition. I believe if purchased from bbc store at the time it came with L/E art cards that were not otherwise available.
I got the art cards with series 9 part 2 (as bought from bbc store) however as I bought this part 1 elsewhere I didn’t get the art cards. Anyone seen any listings selling this WITH the art cards ?

I Don’t get all the complaints. I like when they release Doctor Who series in the part 1 and part 2 formats. The box sets are expensive 50-70 bucks on amazon. Part 1 and 2 sets are cheaper and you still get extras

Previous ‘Part’ releases have contained two separate standard cases, with each contain one disc. I would assume this would follow suit. But then again the Series 8 Boxset was a standard sized case and not a digi-pack. So this may well be just the one case. Only way to find out is wait for the release unfortunately.

How incredibly tiresome as usual! It’s bad enough the Series has dropped down to 12 episodes. Plus all this padding of the episodes with ‘NEXT TIME’ giving away details of each following episode, to make-up the run-time for the last couple of seasons. Now they do this buy Part 1 then buy Part 2 business? Just have to wait until Feb or Mar of 2016 to get the complete box set. At the least we should be given the Christmas Special on the complete box set when it’s out?

there are some people who would not want to wait that long before getting some episodes to keep and view hence the split

of course people forget when we had to fork out £12.99 for two episodes of star trek etc etc every to weeks

people get a lot for their many they days

Actually I think it’s more of a business decision on the part of the BBC to maximise as much profit as they can from the product. Having worked as a TV extra a few years back the Production costs on a single TV episode are horrendous. I can see why they do it to recover costs. Once you factor in everything from Location Shooting/Scouting, Set Design/Build, Art & Costume Design, Props, SFX, CGI, etc the costs really start to mount up. Thinking on it now make’s me worry about last year’s Christmas Special? No mention of it for this Part 1 set?

Its a 12 episode run then 2 weeks off air then the x-mas special. They look to be releasing part one in the week following episode 6 airing. The i would imagine part 2 will be released in the week following the finale. Just in time for some sales at christmas. Then my guess is a full series 9 boxset will be released in the new year.

Realised how series 8 only had a Deep Breath and Full Boxset release. So quickly made these for series 8!

I expect it’ll just be released on DVD in two parts before the full release at the end of the series, but it is definitely still being broadcast as a full 12-ep run

hope they don’t do what they did with atlantis series 2 release volume 1 with half the series on. then release the whole series in a complete box set totally forgetting to release volume 2 for the people who bought volume 1. had to sell volume 1 and buy the complete series 2 box set.

I’m guessing they won’t be able to release the whole series by Christmas so they will release episodes 1-6 this year and the rest of the series early 2016.

I see. “Exclusive Extras” – so there will most likely be a full series boxset, but in order to see all content, we need to buy every episode twice.
