The Doctor is returning home to Gallifrey with the remains of his arch-nemesis, the Master. Forced off course, the TARDIS arrives in San Francisco on New Year’s Eve 1999, where the Doctor is critically wounded in a gangland gun battle. At the local hospital, Dr Grace Holloway fights – and fails – to save his life.
Later, in the morgue, the Doctor wakes up a new man. But he is not the only one – the Master has also found himself a new body. As the clock counts down to the start of the new millennium, can the Doctor stop his oldest enemy destroying all life on Earth?

May 21st, 2026 - 4:52pmSML Creative’s posted an unboxing of the standard 4K blu-ray, great to see it’s got a reversible roundel cover. Roundels still going strong even on 4K. Oddly, no “Starring PAUL McGANN as the Doctor” on the banner. Same McGann roundel photo as the 2016 blu-ray. Also some extra art of the McGann and the TARDIS on the front of the booklet, Lee Binding really pulled out all the stops here.
Couldn’t make out all the special features (unusually, none of them are listed on the back), but clean opening titles are included, and alternate opening titles, which I assume include the Gordon Tipple narration. There are also deleted scenes.

May 21st, 2026 - 5:55pmIs there any indication of which versions get which features? (I’m thinking specifically of those that are necessarily attached to the actual episode itself, such as the iso score, commentaries, info text, etc., as opposed to existing as standalone features such as interviews or documentaries.)
Professor Flibble
May 21st, 2026 - 6:04pmNot sure yet, I’m afraid, but I’d *assume* both versions will have the info text, commentaries etc. I think disc one has both versions of the movie and disc two has the majority of the special features.

May 21st, 2026 - 6:23pmBoth the blu ray and 4k have the same bonus features. The bonus disc is a normal blu ray

May 21st, 2026 - 6:35pmAh, I assumed what 11thHour was asking, was if you could watch both versions (US broadcast and UK uncensored) with the info text and commentary tracks
The11thHour2010
May 21st, 2026 - 8:14pmYes, Professor Flibble was correct about what I was asking. We already know that the only difference between these releases will be the picture quality. I was specifically asking exactly what Professor Flibble identified.
(It’s the same concept as “The Warriors of the Deep Special Edition does not include any of the info text, etc., from the actual episodes because it is its own thing, whereas the CGI replacement effects on the rest of that season have no effect on them as they are not a separate version of the stories in question.”)
My question is not “Does the 4K release have the same stuff as the BD?”; it’s “Does the US version of the TVM on the BD have the same options available for subtitles and audio as the UK version?”. Gordon answered the former, while Professor Flibble answered the latter.

May 10th, 2026 - 12:35pmPete McTigue has said he has written the Wilderness Years trailer. Didn’t mention if he’s filmed it

May 21st, 2026 - 5:41pmWouldn’t have been filmed yet, I think the word is the set is quite a way off, but I imagine the minisode will have McGann in it. Bit of a wildcard, but I’d quite like to see Richard E. Grant.

February 23rd, 2026 - 11:45amEvery time I see this blu ray cover Paul McGann’s wonky eye art stares out at me!

February 21st, 2026 - 1:21pmdoes anyone know what is the release date is please? I have read on the radio times that its the 25th of may which would make sence with 30 years but no one else that Iv seen has used as specific date.
Will the 4k version include the standard blu ray?
Gordon
February 21st, 2026 - 2:13pmIt’s the 25th may according to the radio times. Nobody else seems to be following that date at present.
The standard 4k is 2 discs and the second disc is the blu ray extras disc .
The 4k steelbook has 3 discs. Disc 1: the movie on 4k, disc 2: the movie on blu ray, disc 3: blu ray extras disc

April 16th, 2026 - 12:33amThe BFI event is 17th May, unusually on a Sunday, so gives time for a 25th May release date – as that is 30 years since to the weekend [at least for UK]
