OK this is a new low.

I have got use to the fact that every time a new issue is published “fans” come on here and complain complain complain.

But now we have complaints before an issue is even published.

I understand that not everything that is produced is universally liked but it is the same thing being said every issue. If people do not like the product don’t buy it no-one is forcing you too, then in the great scheme of life the universe and everything, you don’t have to read it and then that is one less thing for you to moan about.

There are those of us who have read the magazine for a long time. I started with the Fifth Doctor and stayed with it during the time the series was not in production when it could easily have stopped and when the series came back enjoyed how the magazine changed. There have been issues that have been great and issues where not everything was to my taste but I enjoy reading it and hope it continues for a long time to come.

Ncuti still deserves a Proper Dalek Story. No book or comic will ever fill that void.

      Indeed…..! A real shame they never met…..
Dare I say, with some classic monsters, he would have had a popular 3rd season as Dr Who…..!

    • Bobby Davros

      February 6th, 2026 - 7:05pm

Yeah because Sutekh and Omega were handled so well weren’t they?

    • James

      February 6th, 2026 - 9:03pm

Agreed Bobby RTD ruined them and the Sea Devils

    • War Chief.

      February 7th, 2026 - 10:00am

Well, I meant really daleks and cybermen……but point taken…..Especially about Omega…….!

    • Missyrules

      February 7th, 2026 - 3:51pm

If they didn’t have the names you’d be hard pressed to tell they were meant to be sutekh and omega. Who knows what rtd would have done with daleks and cybermen. I mean davros was no longer allowed to be in a wheelchair so I image the daleks would have legs now!

    • War Chief.

      February 7th, 2026 - 6:11pm

20 years ago, in Dalek and Parting of the Ways, RTD did a good job with them…..
But that was then, this is now…..

    • Snowman

      February 8th, 2026 - 1:23pm

Under RTD I guess the Daleks would have Human form Now and just have the Eye Port stuck out of their Foreheads so you could say, “Who, look it’s a Dalek”. Yes he ruined Sutekh, Omega, Sea Devils and Davros. I’m really Glad he Didn’t get his hands on anymore Classic Villains, especially the Daleks.

      February 8th, 2026 - 3:56pm

I didn’t watch war between beyond the first two, just had no interest in it after those. Can’t say I’m bothered by not seeing it after friends told me about it.

      February 8th, 2026 - 5:11pm

Actually, Missyrules, I wasn’t hard pressed to recognise Sutekh. I could tell it was him from Gabriel Woolf’s first line of dialogue.

    • Missyrules

      February 8th, 2026 - 5:52pm

Well the fact it said his name on the screen helps. Many people presumed the beast was sutekh after hearing Gabriel’s distinctive voice. The thing is the character barely resembles the original character, same as omega. Rtd just turned them into arbitrary gods that were defeated so easily it meant nothing.

I tend to agree with others about the returning villains but id include the rani too. We had Mrs flood then she bigenerated into the new rani who was great but then she is killed easily and leaves the version of the rani that can’t regenerate and will just age and die like Tennant will. Why kill the new rani? Kill the old one!

Sadly modern nu who just sends up classic characters, I’d rather they leave as they are best remembered

    • War Chief

      February 10th, 2026 - 1:12pm

Dalek and The Parting of the Ways were very good, and RTD did those……but that was 20 years ago…..

The magazine is very up-and-down for me at the moment. Either the articles/interviews are just a page long, or they go on for page after page! I don’t know how the circulation figures are holding up, but in these days of watching the pennies, my subscription is under review. It’s only things like this month’s Season 21 layout that keep me subscribing at the moment.

its spread too thin as well as the 13 issues there are 6-7 specials if they cut back a little it would give each magazine more to talk about

£7.99 for a magazine is extremely high and limited content now

      February 7th, 2026 - 9:38am

@alex – they put a lot of the content in the 15+ specials they do every two weeks

      Used to be just 4

    • Amypondfan

      February 7th, 2026 - 3:53pm

Alex that’s an average price now for a magazine and the who magazine is longer than a lot of them.

      February 7th, 2026 - 3:58pm

Magazines are generally expensive now full stop, especially niche titles. If we wanted cheaper, the first thing to cut costs would be to remove the comic strip (which personally wouldn’t bother me) but I guess it would others. The Wilderness Years were well served by DWM IMO even when there was no new show to talk about, there was plenty of intelligent discussion and debate. Why can’t this sort of thing be replicated (there is now a lot more new TV content to discuss in the same way)?

I cancelled mine at the end of the year. This is the first issue I’ve not had since 150 which feels pretty sad but… it’s just rarely a good read any more

While the articles sound interesting, i do find it a little annoying that most turn out to be just one page long.
