The Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) make their full-cast audio drama debut today with the release of Vampire Weekend, the first in a series of twelve brand-new The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures episodes.

Set after Series 12 of TV Doctor Who, the time travelling duo’s latest run of TARDIS trips begins with a visit back home for Yaz. She joins her friends on a hen party, with the Doctor tagging along for the ride.

But when one of the guests is attacked, it becomes clear that someone else is hiding among the group – a vampire!

In the guest cast of Vampire Weekend are Daniel Walford as Daryl, Anna Crichlow as Zoya and Kat, Jeremy Ang Jones as Mason, and Mandi Symonds as Gina’s mum.

Jodie Whittaker said: “I like anything to do with vampires – one of my favourite films is Let the Right One In – so it’s nice to be a part of a different genre.

“And what was so fun about this story is the amount of dialogue that the Doctor and Yaz have together. Often in the TV episodes, particularly when we had a lot of characters on screen, it was very action-packed, but it wouldn’t always be dialogue-heavy, whereas I’ve really loved all the duologues that we’ve had.”

Mandip Gill added: “I absolutely loved playing these characters again. I get asked, did we miss them, but I feel like they’ve never really left. When I first read this script, it was really exciting. I get to drive a lot of the story, and it’s about Yaz’s personal life, which is good.”
