I have seen other 3.75″ figures in TRU for about £2, whereas the Doctor Who figures are £7

Because the Doctor Who ones are still fairly new and so keep the same price until popularity drops as well as prices

Little confused. Is Amy, 10 and Asylum Dalek going to be in 5 inch as that’s how tall the figure looks in the image?

      no its 3.75″

this seems all a bit funny. I’m still not a massive fan, but will buy as a collector. but they are doing what 5″ did, which is repeat stuff.
the wave shouldn’t have another angel, and another clara. they should wait and have a clara from series 8.

True as that was one of the failings of the 5″ range far too many figures of the same character and bad choices, I mean how many 10th and 11th Doctors do we all have.

P.S. The cardboard play sets have gotta go…to think how they’ve downgraded them since the 5″ range…and I type this as I look over at my boxed 10th Doctor console room playset displayed in the corner of the room…

The Tenth and Eleventh Doctor’s TARDIS playsets both feature cardboard. These are hardly any different, except that they can make more of them with the new scale.

the 5 inch tardis playsets were cardboard and plastic

I love the way they say ‘Popular 3.75 inch range’ – Wherever I’ve seen any, there are always loads on the shelves, ergo, they aren’t selling. My job takes me all over the UK, and wherever I’ve looked, the story is the same. They’re too expensive for most kids to buy, and the serious Dr Who collectors [adults], don’t want the little figures for continuity’s sake. Maybe it’s time the tender was put out to let another company have a go. Character are not listening to their VERY loyal customer base.

Doctor Who is show for a family audience, they cannot cater to one side of the age range and leave the other side out, and the reason why these figures are not selling is because they have been out for a while, so of course people are going to lose interest. That is wave two and three are coming out, to keep the trend going.

Character will never go back to the 5inch, it would be a pointless waste of their time and money. Because at the end of the day that is what is comes down to money.

The new paradigm Daleks didn’t last long, did they? In ‘Asylum of the Daleks’, they were beautifully repainted to look like older Daleks, but put on the sidelines. All subsequent Daleks shown on the programme have been the great, hard-looking copper coloured ones. What went wrong?

Again, just like the character building mini-figs the sculpts on these seem to be a lot better with this new batch. Might get a few 😉

Not pointless for people (like me because I prefer the red one to the blue one) who want the red dress Clara but don’t want to pay loads of extra money for a rare and don’t live in the USA or Australia. Character might not want to re-release a rare as a common to everyone.

I am completely fed up of so much complaining. Quite a few people here like the 3.75″ merchandise. If you don’t like it complaining is not going to bring back 5″, if you have a problem contact Charater. Its really spoiling the extitement.

I do agree that the “haters” sometime hijack the post a spoil of for those who do like them (and there are a lot of you i know)

I don’t mean to sound rude to the haters but when I look at these I get so exited about them but some of the comments just spoil it.

Its great to know that you guys agree with me but If I started posting “rid of 5″ on for example the War Doctor figure page I’m sure many would be offended.

I like both types but for me I just generally like 3.75″

5” is great and I loved it (I still do 🙂 ) but I think its had its had a great time and I’m sure it won’t go completly but just released less often

No offence, but I must disagree (I’d probably get loads of dislikes if there was that option on posts). I think we should be all entitled to our own opinion. Now if the whole page was absolutely flooded with hatred, then I completely agree with booboo when he usually deletes all the posts. But when it comes to this, I just have to disagree. I have my opinion, and 3.75″ is simply just ok. Nothing special, smaller, less detail. For me the 5″ are better, but I have nothing against your opinions on these.

    • 100000BC

      January 25th, 2014 - 10:55am

Nothing wrong with that; we all respect your view so long as you don’t start posting comments listing everything you find wrong with the figures and bring back five inch and sack moffat because it’s somehow his fault etc. etc. etc…

    • booboo

      January 25th, 2014 - 11:20am

The problem we have over and over is that the 5″ line died in Jan 2011 – we just didn’t know that at the time

retailers saw it as on old line, sales had slowed from series 5 and they didn’t order enough figures to warrant further development – hence all the variants because they had to supply the orders they did have with the quantity of figures but not type, that’s why you got nothing from the second half of series 6 and beyond – not enough orders to pay for new figures.

Net result – rethink ask what retailers want and supply – and it worked – for now

so these bring back the 5″ posts are pointless, pointless, pointless – because the retailers don’t want them.

If you REALLY want to moan, moan at them (the retailers, the big ones not the little uns), TELL underground toys you want more classics, not Character, don’t go at them, they would love to make them i’m sure.

Better still, establish you own company, get several million pounds worth of backing, establish a worldwide market and distribution network and commission the figures you want from Character (but this would need to be (10s of thousands of each one)

After that sit and pray and be prepared to loose all your millions if its doesn’t work

If people actually understood the costs, the risks and what goes on they would not say what they do

Lots and LOTS of sticky tape. It’s the only way. It’s silly that CO have gone for such an awful choice, as cardboard is definitely one of the worst materials for a toy. The only reason why they made it out of cardboard is that it’s so cheap and easy to produce. I bought one and will never buy a timezone playset again.

Second wave = Hopefully October/November this year if not next year

    • 100000BC

      January 25th, 2014 - 12:08pm

I imagine that if these are popular they may move on to Doctors, then companions and other characters (remembering that this is aimed it the kids who may not know much about it), but they won’t stop the 5″ classics. Classic 3.75″ figures would be just like the 5″ classics wave 1 and 2, the accompanying box sets and the 11 doctors set: the only non-exclusive classics so far.

There’s another picture of the dalek attack ship on doctorwhotoys dot net in the news section. It looks to me that the flaps might have hinges at the top to allow the attack ship to close up and hide the dalek inside.

Also, the dalek does have a black striped skirt. So this is possibly another new dalek variant.
