Presumably if they had series 11, I’m hoping sainsbury have it. It’s macra terror that might be the problem. Did tesco stock power and shada?

    • The Flying Shark

      February 15th, 2019 - 1:23pm

They did, so I think they’ll have Macra Terror, but they never had Twice Upon a Time last year so that’s why I’m a bit worried about Resolution. I suppose it makes more sense from a business perspective to stock the ‘event’ classic stories that almost will sell than a single new series episode which was only on a month ago, which probably won’t shift as many.

Is buying Claws of Axos SE worth it? I already have the original release DVD, but I’ve heard the SE is vastly improved.

And is The Green Death SE worth buying too, even though I have the original DVD release? I haven’t heard anything about this one other than the extras, which I’m not too bothered by, and I own SJA box set, so the SJA episode on the SE doesn’t add anything to me

Depends on whether you only want improved picture or are buying for extras. I didn’t get inferno, claws or green death simply because I had no interest in the new extras. I love inferno it’s my favourite pertwee story but the new extras just didn’t do it for me. The picture quality isn’t great on my three original DVDs but I’m not that bothered. If you can get them cheap enough then go for it.

I’m only interested in the improved picture quality. I’ve heard Claws of Axos has a much better picture quality, but I don’t know anything about The Green Death improvements

Sorry should have added this about the picture quality. Yes the originals aren’t brilliant but then they are hardly unwatchable either! The originals do me, I did buy most of the special editions but mainly for the new extras, the exceptions were the hartnell and troughton stories where technology has improved massively between releases and the very early DVD releases the first year or so where again they weren’t really cleaned up. I didn’t get the three pertwee mentioned above or the enemy of the world for the same reason, picture was fine extras weren’t enough to persuade me.

Well, they were the equivalent of Police men, so if you’re talking about their abilities or powers, I’d say simple arresting skills-they didn’t seem to have any weapons.

Although the Winders were more like Police figures, rounding up the children to take to the whale, so the Smilers could be more like warnings, akin to a public information film or the sort?

Thinking out load here… when they release the two Eric saward books as target books wonder if they’re going to do dalek sets. Either 5 reprints or 5 new. Here’s my thoughts.
    Reprints
    Dalek invasion of earth
    Power of the daleks
    Planet of the daleks
    Destiny of the daleks
    Resurrection of the daleks
    Revelation of the daleks
    Remembrance of the daleks

    New who
    Resurrection of the daleks
    Revelation of the daleks
    Dalek
    Stolen earth/journey’s end
    Asylum of the daleks
    Magician’s apprentice/witch’s familiar
    Resolution

Unlikely I know but we can dream…

Oh and the Gary Russell movie adaptation as well as the daleks make a very brief guest appearance (any excuse for this to be a target book really!)

      February 12th, 2019 - 3:14pm

I really hope in the next Target set we get re-releases of the Movie, Power and Evil of the Daleks and The Pirate Planet so we can have a sort of matching full set.

      February 13th, 2019 - 8:42pm

Same, maybe even Krikkitmen and Scratchman? Target did novelise the Pescatons back in the day, so that could be a nice little sort-of-but-not-quite-canon series to go alongside the main books.

if you mean DVD’s there has never been a complete set, just the new season sets and there are only 2 at the moment one of which is difficult to get

at the Moment you would need to buy all the DVD’s separately

so many, possibly the Daemons 5″ set

I don’t know the B&M contents yet lots of things were talked about, certainly another Tardis set, possibly some sets containing straight re-releases but of (classic) figures that are hard to get.

Its between the Chase set and Enemies of the third Doctor……

    • The Outcast

      February 11th, 2019 - 12:19pm

Definitely the 11 Doctors set for me (or the 13 Doctors set). I remember getting it when I was younger, and I just loved having all the Doctors, even if I didn’t really know much about some of them. the packaging was awesome, with the TARDIS doors being able to be opened to show the figures and with information on each incarnation, and the figures themselves were great, even if the 11th Doctor was just the standard one which I already had. Just so pleasing to have all of them from a collector’s perspective, even if it was outdated a few years later.

      February 11th, 2019 - 12:40pm

And on the subject of re-releases, hoping for a re-issue of the Sea Devil figure, which is difficult to get hold of now. The Cyberlord would be a nice figure to see re-issued, maybe it could have the O logo and a Preacher gun to be from a Good Man Goes to War? I’d buy that, and I have the original Cyberlord. Clockword droids could be a nice re-issue too, as could any one of the Classic Sontarans (though I favour Styre, cause I don’t have him). There are a lot of cool monsters that could be re-released, like Axons, Silver Nemesis Cybermen, Judoon?, Ood, the Maggots from the Green Death. And don’t get me started on the variants of the Doctor that could be re-released, the Unearthly Child one, Remembrance 7 with hatted head, any of the original 3rd Doctor figures, Red tie 6th Doctor (ok, not a re-release, a repaint, but it needs doing!).

But what I really want is Daleks. I’d love a re-issue of Collectors set #1, or releases of harder to get Daleks like the Supreme or Drone Invasion of Earth Daleks, the Death to the Daleks Daleks with the machine guns, the Suicide Daleks, the SWD, the Red Supreme and general new mould NuWho Daleks. Stick Davros in there if you want. I’d love a Genesis or Remembrance re-issue, and most people would love a 2008 version re-issue.

      My favourite set has to be the eleven / thirteen doctor collectors sets. In terms or BandM sets, heres my dream list;

      Tenth Doctor set:
-tenth doctor with 3d glasses ‘doomsday’
      -The timelord (series 3/4)
      -25× adipose

      Monsters set:
      -Sea Devil with gun
      -any classic sontaran
-purple clockwork droid (or new repainted variant, such as gold or red could be nice)

      Cyberman set:
      – Tomb of the cybermen cyberman with cybermat
      -Silver nemesis cyberman
-Next doctor/ AGMGTW cyberleader (exposed brain, with gun.

My favourite set is a three-way tie: Genesis of the Daleks Set, the Sontaran Experiment Set and The Chase set.

-Proper Genesis Davros, two Genesis Daleks (one with a bronze gun) and a Kaled mutant!

-Who would have thought that we got a proper Styre, with a gun and a Sontaran ship that opens up? Incredible.

-The Chase is beautiful. Mechanoid is a perfect reproduction, and the Daleks are a spot-on. Very retro. Very beautiful.

My most-wished re-release? Remembrance of the Daleks Set. Really, anything from Remembrance of the Daleks. Specifically Imperial Daleks. I missed the set and the FX Special Weapons Dalek, and these are near impossible to find even on ebay…..
Oh, and Death to the Dalek dalek. Those were beautiful (and very hard to find now…)

My favourite ever would have to be the stolen earth set , for the b and m we should get a Tennant with either the time crash version ( red shirt ) or the brown suit with the dark shirt underneath like in tooth and claw and utopia I believe, I also agree with the suggestion for the cyber men from AGMGTW, maybe the cyberlord and a cyberman from that , both with guns

My other favourite set that I’d love to see a re release of would have to be the genesis ark and cult of snark set , the best ever set to be realeased in my opinion
