I know this might sound silly, but with Doctor Who figures in jeopardy, will leaving the EU just make the situation worse? I mean, with plastics and trade and I know you probably don’t know how Character are supplied with these materials but I was wondering whether this could have a negative affect on the releases (of which are already invisible).
I know this is the last worry of leaving the EU but just curious.

Remember under every figure it says “Made in China” so I think future production should be safe despite the leave vote

Should be fine. Like prototype dalek said they come from China so i’m sure it’ll be fine

There is of course a risk due to financial instability but if that happens you’ll definitely have more than figures to worry about.

      June 24th, 2016 - 7:24pm

Okay, yeah. I thought considering the figures are made in China they would be fine 🙂

Which Doctor Who figures are ‘in jeopardy’ ? Are we expecting stocks to be hijacked by a load of disgruntled french lorry drivers. Or is Angela Merkel going to blockade all Dalek supplies with a panzer divison.

AngryDrashig that sounds like one action packed doctor who episode, Panzer’s v Daleks. Overall, their will still be Doctor who items.

      June 22nd, 2016 - 4:00pm

Do you think they would actually re-produce these? I mean it seems strange that so many items (such as the orange spacesuit 10th Dr, Fez/Mop 11th Dr) come back in stock after a while. I know they may be surplus stock but why would they become surplus stock in the first place? It takes so long for them to pop back up for sale after their initial sell out. Why would a company allow them to sit in a warehouse for so long not making money from them?

    • booboo

      June 22nd, 2016 - 4:04pm

when these go back on its only a few, could be any number of reasons, stock held for rejected card payments, funko replacements for returned stock, cancelled orders etc etc

just finished reading a charity book i bought from lulu.com called time shadows, a 12th doctor story where his past changes and new stories appear in his memories via short stories featuring past doctors. very good. don’t know where you stand boo boo on recommending unofficial merchandise but the stories are very well written, and it’s a hefty tome at 370 pages

Yes, that’s the follow-up set (The first was a North American release only) & it’s the same with this. I contacted Topps UK about 4 years ago over these & they told me they would only be released in America. Very glad to, they have stopped any temptation to buy any. They are all exceedingly expensive to buy on the secondary market & there is no way you can get a full set in any form anyway. A lot of the cards are just 1 of 1 like the Cut Signature William Hartnell card.

Given the way 5″ is going, I’d be quite happy with more B&M-style rereleases and variants of old figures, with the occasional new Companion or significant Monster (I.e. 2013 Zygons) (some new Doctors but most variants could easily be done as repaints in B&M-type sets). Anyone else agree? Also fyi Forbidden Planet .com have taken the 1st Doctor TARDIS and various SFX daleks (already out of stock) off their website earlier today – probably just a clean-up but my optimistic side is hoping it’s because of a re-release… 😀

I agree, but I’d be great if they weren’t B&M exclusives, or if B&M made them possible to order online!

    • 100000BC

      June 24th, 2016 - 4:20pm

I think the new monsters and companions would also be Forbidden Planet exclusives.
It would be great if they were more available – online availability would be nice (some of them aren’t too badly priced on amazon or ebay actually) but this is just the sad way 5″ is going and if it keeps the line alive and gives newer classic fans the chance to get figures they missed before then I’m all for it.

That in Collector Series packaging would be quite something. But would probably not sell tbh, such a huge set, would have to be expensive and people who would be interested probably have at least 7/10 of the figures they contained. Whilst if you are only paying 14.99 for a B&M set and you only need one figure you may see more value on it, as it’s a smaller sum
