I had a hunch/fear the BBC would stop physical releases.
    So happy to be wrong

It has apparently been confirmed, in reply to someone who emailed the BBC, that Ruby Road will be in the Series 1 set.

There are 8 episodes and only 6 hours and 10 minutes of content does not make sense

That’s an average of 46 minutes per episode. That run time won’t include extras as it’s the main feature running time

I don’t know why people are finding this hard to get. Run times on DVDs never include extras. Just go and look at your shelves and you will see that. A two hour movie with three hours of extras has a runtime listed of two hours.
The 60th anniversary set has a runtime of 171 minutes or in other words, the episodes, the extras are not listed as part of that runtime. The season episodes must have dropped from Jodie’s longer episode lengths back to the average of 46 mins they had originally when the show came back.

If it doesn’t include the Church then I’m not going to bother since it’s not really a complete set, and getting a whole blu ray just for one special isn’t my thing

I am in the same boat – expecting Church to be included on this, and if its not – I wont bother.

I’ll wait until a full set comes out with Church + main series

Going by the runtime listed on Amazon I suspect it won’t be included

This may be a question that has been answered elsewhere, but why is it Season 1?

New production company so they must have decided on starting again. Seems daft though.

As per iplayer. Classic Who is 1963-1996. Modern Who is 2005 to 2022. New Who is 2023 onwards.

Disney+ only has 2023 onwards so could be potentially daunting for a new viewer seeing Series 14 listed and thinking they are 13 series behind which are not available on the same platform.

Makes sense to reset to Season 1. Fresh start as the 60th Specials were a soft launch. And a new fan can delve into the shows history if they want to once they are hopefully invested in the new show.

Either way it is all Doctor Who no matter what you call it. Some classic fans say it is Season 40 for example.

I can see the disney thing, so I guess it makes sense.

Though New Who is now Modern Who………to make way for the ‘new’ New Who.

I like the way old shows are now called ‘Classic’, so I may adopt that to describe myself.

Tell the kids I am not OLD, i am CLASSIC.

Must be today’s announcement. And yes £60 seems a lot but it is the steelbook which usual adds a tenner to the price.

The 60th Specials last year was £30 for just 3 episodes though so not too bad really, maybe.
