A mythmakers presentation – Return to Devils End
Regarded by many Doctor who fans as the best all round Jon Pertwee story.
The Daemons featured the village of Aldbourne as its central location.
In this special production, presenter Nicholas Briggs has brought leading cast members & director Christopher Barry to Aldbourne where they recount memories of shooting Doctor Who during one of its most popular periods.

April 12th, 2013 - 12:28pmI voted for Frontier in Space and Planet of the Daleks for sheer personal reasons.
FiS was my first story that I recall as an on-going programme (I was 6 and half at the time) and remember seeing the TARDIS spinning towards the cargo ship. Strange thing is that I knew of the Ogrons when they appeared and wondered where the Daleks were – it had the Draconians (why haven’t they returned?), Ogrons (why haven’t they returned?), Daleks, the Master’s last original appearance. It may drag on, it may not be the best story in Who history, but…..
AlzieWhozie
April 12th, 2013 - 12:32pm….but its my first and seeing the Daleks at the end, sheer classic. Leading of course to a darn good Dalek story and now we all have episode three in colour (remember the scene from Queer as Folk that the third episode had been found in colour?). What I remember is early on the Saturday of either part 2 or 3 was going to the Odeon to see Dr Who and the Daleks in colour and then going to my Nans to watch the black and white episode.
Happy content memories. That’s why I voted for them.

April 8th, 2013 - 7:56pmwe can now look at another planet of the spiders release in the regeneration box set, but this time without the extra’s (and a possible documentary to go with it similar to the doctors revisited set).
pathdw98
April 8th, 2013 - 7:53pmNow i’ve thought about it, i’m actually looking forward to the Inferno special edition dvd. If the picture quality has been greatly improved on the original, then it should be a good release.

April 8th, 2013 - 10:00pmI’d rather they got rid of the new who stories and put some extras with the classic stories they are releasing in this boxset. Don’t want new-who taking up dvd space.
The Monitor
April 8th, 2013 - 5:41pmHowever, in the last 6 months, season 7 has become, in my view, the best season of Doctor Who all-time.
Spearhead from Space on a large screen and upscaling Blu-Ray player is just phenomenal. I have seen it many times in the past, and recently, on a big screen just blew me away, and sent the story right into my top ten. Rest of season is intelligently brilliant.
Fabulous double act- Dr and Liz, 20 years ahead of its time.
Booboo – superb page, lovely feature and era-homage

April 8th, 2013 - 5:35pmI dont know why people hate the Time Monster, its one of my favourites, I love the concept of Atlantis, and the Master trying to get earth by using Human resources. However one of the best, if not the best Pertwee story has to obviously be the Three doctors, but I also loved Planet of the Daleks. He certainly made up for his loss of Cybermen with the Dalek stories!
The Monitor
April 8th, 2013 - 5:45pmI believe that if you like the Dr Who enough to read and contribute, then you do not actually hate anything about the programmme. Dislike perhaps.
Hate is a strong word, I think it better to think that people prefer most/all other stories, but still find aspects of The Time Monster to enjoy.
I never liked The Mutants, but last time I watched it I thought it to be very intelligent and thought provoking with very few naff moments. I would love to vote for it to bolster it’s score, but I do prefer most of the rest of the era.
MasterKasterborous
April 8th, 2013 - 5:48pmI felt with The Time Meddler that the opening episodes were amazing and then the last couple actually in Atlantis weren’t as good.
MasterKasterborous
April 8th, 2013 - 9:55pmSorry The Time Monster – wrong Doctor…
Gordon
April 10th, 2013 - 7:58ami absolutely adore the time monster.

classic who is cool
April 8th, 2013 - 4:28pmLove the peladon stories from the third doctors era, they should do a return to that planet in the series some day !
DOCTOR WHO ONE
April 8th, 2013 - 4:54pmI quite agree, including Spiridon from ‘Planet of the Daleks’ and perhaps Metabelis 3 from ‘The Green Death’ and ‘Planet of the Spiders’.
classic who is cool
April 8th, 2013 - 7:41pmdefinatley, i like the peladon stories, i think if they ever did do a return alpha centuri would have to be there too, and yes i agree with spiridon and metabelis 3.
McGann is the Doctor
April 8th, 2013 - 4:02pmI really enjoyed Planet of the Daleks because I had never seen the black and white Dalek stories, so it didn’t feel like a cheap rehash to me.I remember feeling kind of sick by the time I had finished watching (for the first time) because I had foolishly watched all six parts in one sitting ❗
But I did much enjoy it a whole lot more the week I rewatched it, one night at a time, while lying in bed about to fall asleep. This all sounds very sarcastic, but I serious, I really enjoyed that story ! Pertwee was great, the Dalek voices were the bes

April 8th, 2013 - 3:47pmI voted for Spearhead from Space, Invasion of the Dinosaurs and Planet of the Spiders because they were all awesome! But from what I’ve heard I would probably have voted for The Three Doctors if I had seen it.

MasterKasterborous
April 8th, 2013 - 3:32pmI thought it would be worthwhile to talk about the colour restoration of many of the Pertwee episodes and the hard work that has been put into the DVDS. Only 70 of 128 his episodes exist in their original format but they are now all (some better than others) in colour. I think the most amazing is the re colourisation of The Mind of Evil episode 1. It looks stunning and I think we should all share our appreciation for the amazing work of the RT on these DVDs.
pathdw98
April 8th, 2013 - 5:14pmI totally agree with you there. The work the guys at the RT do is nothing short of phenomenal. I am really looking forward to the dvd of The mind of evil, just to see what an amazing job they have done on the colour restoration.
MasterKasterborous
April 8th, 2013 - 5:42pmIn regards to The Mind of Evil I can share a bit about what the colour recovery/re-colourisation is like Episode 1 is superb; absolutely fantastic! The second episode isn’t so great, admitted to be the worst by the RT, but that couldn’t have been avoided due to what was available. After that the colour recovery just gets better and better. A massive thanks in particular need to be given to Stuart Humphryes and Peter Crocker for their simply unbelievable efforts to get this back into colour!
booboo
April 8th, 2013 - 5:45pmReally looking forward to watching this one when its out, did you get to see it at BFI?
Stuart Humphryes does excellent work
MasterKasterborous
April 8th, 2013 - 6:20pmYep, I saw it at the BFI last month. I was very lucky as I missed out on initial sale but someone else had a spare when his friend dropped out. It was my first time seeing the story and it’s simply stunning; a real treat (especially in colour!). Stuart has done some amazing work and he is one of the most dedicated and nicest people I’ve ever met! Gordon
April 10th, 2013 - 8:09amCan’t agree with you more. The restoration team do fantastic jobs on a very limited budget. I feel they don’t get enough credit sometimes. I hope when they are done with the range they get picked up to do other things. Blake 7 hopefully.
Gordon
April 10th, 2013 - 8:27amAlso I think the best restoration job so far for the third doctor is currently planet of the daleks but that could change to mind of evil. People seem to forget that ep 3 of planet was b and w
MasterKasterborous
April 10th, 2013 - 9:31pm58 of his episodes only exists in black and white!
The Flying Shark
April 8th, 2013 - 3:10pmMy top three DVDs are The Claws of Axos, The Green Death and The Time Warrior. I would like to talk about merchandise and the show, Dapol and Mego/Bif Bang Pow next.
Jamie Fletcher
April 8th, 2013 - 2:22pmSo difficult to choose three favourite Pertwee’s as I love his Doctor so much, it’s probably got something to do with Worzel as well. It’s far easier to pick my three least favourite Pertwee!
Dalek The Supreme
April 8th, 2013 - 2:03pmI haven’t seen a lot of Pertwee stories, but my favorites are Spearhead From Space, The Time Warrior, and most of all, The Three Doctors
josh smith
April 9th, 2013 - 5:10pmno! inferno is the best
Dalek Smith
April 8th, 2013 - 1:36pmfor me my favourite pertwee episode is the sea devils. roger delgado and the sea devils all in one, i also voted planet of the spiders and invasion of the dinosaurs

Colin the 3rd
April 8th, 2013 - 12:53pmIt will be interesting to see the top 3 stories, Mine is Ambassadors of Death its just full of mystery , especially the 1st episode
pathdw98
April 8th, 2013 - 2:16pmThe ambassadors of death is my absolute favourite Jon Pertwee story. I only saw it for the first time when the dvd came out. When I saw that it was 7 episodes, I said to myself i’ll just watch a couple now. I ended up watching the whole thing in one go. I thought it was that good.
The TARDIS
April 8th, 2013 - 12:43pmPlanet of the Spiders Ida great story, just a bit let down by visuals… Such a shame Roger Delgado passed away, The Final Game would have been very interesting to see!
booboo
April 8th, 2013 - 12:44pmYes he was brilliant
The TARDIS
April 8th, 2013 - 1:15pmTo me, he is THE Master. Everyone else comes second.
pathdw98
April 8th, 2013 - 2:08pmTotally agree with you. As good as the other actors are to have played the part, no one will top Roger Delgado as The Master. He was just perfect.
Dalek Smith
April 8th, 2013 - 2:15pmin my opinion john simm was the worst master he just wasn’t evil
thehostproductions
April 8th, 2013 - 12:33pmi like the map feacher from the deamons!!
