Has anyone actually listened to this? I think mine has a fault. 33rom is too slow, 45rpm is too fast. It’s not my player as other discs play fine. Anyone have a similar issue?

Finally getting round to playing my copy and you’re absolutely right – DT’s voice definitely sounds a bit too slow, deep and slurred… hey-ho… I doubt they will do a replacement program. If there’s a wrong-speed issue like this, the fault usually lies in the speed the lacquer they cut to make the metal stamping plates from was done at, so it probably affects every copy.

Ah. Just done a bit of digging and apparently it’s a deliberate creative decision with an in-plot explanation that crops up at some point.

Thanks Gareth!! I’m so pleased you were able to answer this. I was almost in the verge of buying a new record player!!!

I really hate RSS because we only have one store around here and it’s the size of a cupboard (I kid you not) and the queue can be 3hrs+ just to get in the door to find that they no longer have what you’re after.
The after sales is a blessing. While I believe in what RSD is for, it’s ok for bigger towns and cities but less rural areas. I have a lot of the vinyl releases but as I get older the chase is wearing me down

The rules about participating shops being able to sell any leftover stock online changes each year. This year, they are allowed to release any remaining stock for sale to customers online from 8PM (UK time) Friday 29th April, so try some of those (I find Banquet Records very good, or Rough Trade) at that time. Just make sure you are all signed up and logged in already for whichever store’s webshop you try, as it can be a bit of an online scrum at the moment online sales go live.

Banquet Records is where I just ordered my copy from. I was 10th in line at Diverse Vinyl in Newport and close enough to the front to get the last free tote bag, but the one copy they had of Dead Air sold before I got in. Was still nice to try, even if 50% of the times I’ve queued for RSD I’ve gotten unlucky (this year and 2018, in 2019 and 2021 I managed to get the Doctor Who releases).

You might recognise it because it was released on CD in 2010

Will this come to Amazon sometime after the event? I don’t have any record shops near me.

Have a look online after the day itself. If any stores have any left you can get it delivered. That’s what I’ve done for the last few years. Might take a bit of searching for though and there’s no guarantee.

Yeah, Steve you’ll pick one up online. I never fancy getting up really early, then queing for an hour before the nearest shop opens. So the last few I’ve just ordered from Record shops online that Booboo usually puts links to on this site. The P&Ps that usually bad either.

The P&Ps “Not” usually bad either.

Thank you all for the information.

This is one I found underwhelming. Still for those that want it, I’m sure they’ll be very happy.

yay. brilliant. Considering how much BF fit on their 9th and 10th Doctor Vinyl. surprised this needs two Discs, Wish it was another soundtrack.

moaning over. brilliant. I had the usual DW on Vinyl. then Bam, I needed a new shelf.now I have more Dw Vinyl than any other artist ( stephen has PSB who breed Vinyl, so I’m not competing with them)

With these selling well enough to continue, one would have expected an new Soundtrack narration.must be to expensive

Bryan, I think in nearly all cases, the narrated soundtrack LPs are not newly recorded/created for vinyl release – they use the CD versions released about 20 years ago so there are still quite a lot they could dust off the shelf and release on vinyl without needing to spend on any new narration… I’d like the Celestial Toymaker – despite it being a very visual story – I think the cover art for that could be amazing!

      Hi Gareth Pugh.

Yes theres loads on the shelf. But Web Planet sold well from all accounts ( not seen any figures myself) Thats was as near as new as we have had ( in these classic releases) Mind of Magnox and The TLV Double Doctor story sold very well, they were new. Not sure how much a new narration would cost, but the returns could be very good.

I AM HOPING FOR The Tenth Planet sooner than later.
