Ive never knowingly seen an episode of B7. Not sure why because I was the right age group. These blu rays look great, but Im going to hold back and hope a complete B7 collection gets released. Then Ill pull the trigger. Its a pity I know the ending. That must have been mind-blowing watching that in real time. That will teach me to go onto You Tube to search for clips and then read the comments.

      Duncan,

If your like me like Doctor Who you will like Blake’s 7 some if not all the episodes were made by Doctor Who Writers, Producer’s and Directors. I believe if you had Brit Box before it was itvx they were on their so I don’t know if itvx still has them.on their platform as like Doctor Who have now gone home to the BBC IPlayer. But if not am sure you will find them on YouTube just watch a couple of them before you think about buying the set it could be a few years before and if they do a full box set. But all series are available on a complete box set on DVD cheaper then the one series on Blu-ray.

Knowing the end doesn’t matter – getting there is still a brilliant experience. And it’s still shockingly impactful. I watched B7 with my mates over a few months in 2023 and we were all hooked (S1 a bit shonky, but 2&3 are amazing). The characters and the dialogue just sings.

Definitely go for the blurays as opposed to the DVDs, even if they more expensive: quality of remasters and extras are superb.

S4 should be out on Blu-ray next year.

Another Blakes 7 Blu-ray about to run rings around Doctor Who’s Blu-rays when it comes to zero DNR + zero Ai.

Doctor Who Season 25’s standard edition is next tba, and there’s literally missing detail on actors’ faces and clothing, it’s ridiculous.

Has there still been no mention as to what the heck’s being done about the last 3-4 Collections over at GallifreyBase? Seasons 13 + 21 are amongst the worst physical media I’ve ever seen in my life. No quality control whatsoever.

Blakes 7 team meanwhile, respect to them for actually respecting the source material.

Ain’t the Blake’s 7 team the same as the doctor who one?

      Russell Minton
      Paul Vanezis
      Mark Ayres
      Steve Broster
      Chris chapman
      Derek Handley
      Richard Bignell
      Toby Hadoke
      Lee binding

They all work on both. I’m sure these people will apreciate them bashing their doctor who work while praising their Blake’s 7 work

Plus if the Blake’s 7 release is as good as you say surely it doesn’t need to kick another release or releases to prop it up.

R.c: Some people use the word “team” out of habit because there used to be a DW Restoration Team. Babelbro means that while Paul Vanezis carries out sympathetic video restoration/enhancements on B7, the other guy working solo on DW has a very different methodology that results in something… less good. (Aside from the TVM 4K, which was another Paul V job handled very well apart from a couple of careless moments in regard to editing.)

But surely calling their doctor who work the “worst physical media I’ve ever seen in my life“ is a little counter productive when praising their Blake’s 7 work. Last I checked physical media is more than just the picture quality of the main feature. It’s the entire product even if I do grant the picture quality is a very important part .

    • Babelbro

      August 24th, 2026 - 1:36pm

@R.c Peter Crocker works on the Doctor Who, Paul Vanezis works on Blakes 7.

Peter Crocker is using Topaz Video Ai on Doctor Who. I have no access to the GallifreyBase forums, but allegedly it’s been mentioned Crocker can’t tell if he’s going too far with the Ai unless someone actively steps in and tells him to stop.

Allegedly a ‘Quality control check’ was requested by a higher up on Doctor Who, but instead the boxset was passed onto Richard Bignell to glance through (Bignell who infamously threw his toys out the pram at a fan on Twitter’s concerns of Ai) so the qcc was clearly a waste of time pretending to listen to paying customers.

Using DNR and Ai to ‘improve’, ‘enhance’ ‘upscale’ the picture is in itself at best experimental, but also already out of date. There’s Blakes 7, The Sweeney, Star Wars OT in 2027, and plenty more home media tv and film releases already ditching noise reductions and digital fakery, and that makes perfect, if late, sense, given we have plenty of modern films such as James Bond No Time to Die being shot on heavily grainy film, presented as-was on the 4k with zero complaints because that’s just how the recording medium works.

Doctor Who should be no different. There’s vital picture detail on actors that’s baked into the analogue tape noise – any form of DNR, let alone AI is simply erasing that detail. Why a Blu-ray in 2026, with infinitely more bit rate and file storage over a dvd, is still using this destructive alteration is beyond me. It was bad enough in 2018 with Season 18 – the 2009 E-Space dvds literally have more detail over the Blu-ray due to DNR on the latter.

Not that I have a personal bone to pick with Mark Ayers, but I know many fans do have issues with revisionisms on the original audio tracks – again, most new 4k releases of films include the original unaltered theatrical audio tracks, so I can’t quite understand why these also can’t be included on the Doctor Who Blu-rays. You can listen to the original unaltered version of the William Hartnell Doctor Who theme from a high quality tape recording on YouTube, yet it’s completely absent from the Season 2 Blu-ray, instead it’s a historically inaccurate remix by Ayers.

Anyway there’s more I could go into but those are immediate reasons as to why Blakes 7 has night and day better quality Blu-rays over Doctor Who. In fact in this day and age Doctor Who unfortunately has some of the worst ever Blu-ray releases. It’s such a shame given how decent the dvd range was, under far better, now ex members of the restoration team. Pretty much all the fans I follow on social media, from Josh Snares to Tharries simply use BBC iPlayer to watch earlier, lower spec copies of Doctor Who, refusing to watch the Blu-rays whatsoever.

All the gear and no idea.

    • RobW

      August 24th, 2026 - 3:48pm

They’re replacing the original SD footage with AI-generated HD footage. The AI is essentially looking for the closest thing it can find and then generating new detail to upscale it. The result is plastic-surgery-type faces, waxy-looking skin, and textures on clothing being altered or completely changed.

It’s really, really bad. And let me say this again: the original footage is being replaced by computer-generated footage in an attempt to make it look HD. I genuinely don’t understand why some fans think this is acceptable.

I’ll acknowledge that none of us know exactly what is happening behind the scenes, and there has been complete radio silence about these issues. It’s possible that all the SE and LE sets are currently on pause while they try to roll back some of the work, but, honestly, I doubt it.

      August 24th, 2026 - 7:49pm

just for balance . I love the new Doctor Who blu rays. They look fantastic, on the 65″ and projected onto a home cinema screen .

My 4k player needs a button pressed for Blu ray or 4k output. So I put blu ray. and it looks lovely.

on the other hand I do think the “give it a scrubbed but not much “approach, means the Space sequences and ships ,stand out like a sore thumb. Check a spaceship scene vs the DVDs and some are not 100% accurate . So this DW bashing gets so out of hand and vitriolic.

As was said above. non of us knows how why what goes on. I doubt Peter crocker said any such nonsense. and I will take its over puffing that he has, until proof is shown.

I’m hoping AI can fix lots of stuff on the 60s sets. I buy a HD product for a HD picture, not some Fuzzy original I have seen on VHS.

    • R.c

      August 24th, 2026 - 7:52pm

Paul Vanezis also works on the doctor who collection range handling the film material as well as scanning film and film inserts. It was Gordon wasn’t it that said he recently scanned a bunch of 60s eps for collection releases?

The original William Hartnell theme tune will appear on the story that it debuts so it is no surprise it ain’t on season 2. Almost like they were looking for any reason to attack his excellent restoration work.

Thing is you have tharies (who’s opinion I don’t really care for) and Josh snares (who’s opinion I do) who are negative on it but then you got both knowledgable long time fans Ian Levine and Gary zair both raving how great the releases are and how much it’s the best releases ever of them. I don’t think that’s right but I also don’t think it’s “the worst physical media in the world”. The jaws 4k sequels, Cameron 4ks especially t2 and also the Gerry Anderson one off: the day after tomorow are all far worse to name a couple. The artwork, packaging and the mountain of great extras really saves it from being on that level.

    • RobW

      August 24th, 2026 - 8:18pm

No doubt these are ultimate editions for extras. But to change the actual picture just so it can look better on big screen is ridiculous

    • Babelbro

      August 24th, 2026 - 11:40pm

      @ R.C just to answer each of your points;

Yes Paul Vanezis scans the film inserts, but Season 21’s film inserts were still given the sloppy A.I treatment by Peter Crocker, and subsequently passed quality check control with flying colours, naturally.

      I was referring to the original mix of the Hartnell theme tune by Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic workshop used throughout 1963-66. The mix was re-arranged by Mark Ayers since the dvd range started;

Here’s the link to the recording in question, put together by a fan at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdP0Vp5g05w

Jist of it is that the original recording exists on the VHS, but not on any DVDs or Blu-rays… for some mysterious reason. All the technical information is within the video description of the link above.

Regarding Tharries + Josh Snares – I very much trust their insight over the likes of Ian Levine. I highly recommend you watch both of Tharries’ videos on the use of AI on the Blu-rays, and then Snare’s review of the latest Blu-ray. All three videos give good, decent, clear, concise detail as to why the main features of these sets are a total write off.

With Ian Levine – I actually received a DM from him on Twitter in regards to how the Ai is altering actor’s faces, and he literally said he was happy that Tom Baker’s teeth had been ‘fixed’ by the AI. I won’t go down the rabbit hole of explaining the AI slop he charges his equivalent of the Stonecutters from the Simpsons that he considers “the definitive missing episodes brought back to life and are better than the real missing originals”, but suffice to say, Levine’s credibility is highly, highly questionable. Same goes for the ‘Type40’ podcast that used the AI fallout for YouTube clout, then turncoated for Levine’s AI slop, during his ranting and raving at Bignell, Minton, etc, again, for YouTube clout.

Gary Zair likewise, continually fails to provide any backup or actual reason why he ‘likes’ and ‘prefers’ the AI in the Blu-ray sets, and just seems to insist on buying them no matter what because they just so happen to be the newest shiniest thing in the shops on that particular day of the week. Zero critical thought, nothing about what he liked, or did not like. Whenever a discussion happens on Twitter with 1:1 comparisons between the dvds and blu-rays, crystal clear highlighting where the AI has supremely screwed up on an actor’s face, he will literally say nothing else but “I can’t see it, so it’s fine, it’s better now, move on”.

      Finally, I absolutely agree with you in that James Cameron definitely has the worst range of 4k releases to date. While Terminator 2’s 4k is allegedly a transfer error, using a 3D version source that wasn’t ever intended for 2D delivery, hence the intense waxiness – Cameron personally worked on, was in charge of, graded and edited the most recent 4K of the first Terminator – jist of it being that it is evident he didn’t go back to the 35mm film, he took the 2k scan of the 2012 MGM Blu-ray, ran it through AI slop, slapped on fake film grain, and called it a day. The one channel I highly recommend that calls this out is the Damn fool idealistic crusader. Since this feels connected in terms of AI Slop issues with Doctor Who’s Blu-rays, the technical review for the 4k Terminator can be found here;

Yesterday I was watching Dr Who The Missing Years (1998)….
Ian Levine did come across back then as a knowledgeable, if rather opinionated, Dr Who fan…
The other people interviewed seemed much more easy going…
And Ian’s claim in 1998 that there were no more Dr Who episodes to be found, was thankfully not the case….!
But it’s nice to hear he’s apparently still going strong….

      August 25th, 2026 - 1:00pm

I’m sure the original version of the Hartnell theme tune will probably end up on season 1 extras babelbro. Also I’m hearing rumblings Crocker is gone/retired. Nothing confirmed but that does tally with him saying early 2025 that he was expected to be retired by the end of 26

    • Babelbro

      August 25th, 2026 - 2:03pm

That’s uplifting news re. Crocker, I’d overlooked that he’d expressed his retirement happening this year. Idk if that’s linked to the fact he deleted his social media accounts.

I just feel that, although Doctor Who’s restorations were welcome in the 2000’s, particularly picture damage fixes on surviving footage – watching them today there’s a lot of revisionisms, but nowhere near how far those revisionisms have gone in the 2010 dvds and the Blu-rays onwards.

Season 18’s Blu-ray I genuinely was not expecting to have been so heavily denoised and filtered. All the video tape segments are blurry compared to the 2006-09 dvds. So much original analogue noise is lost, brick work on set walls and detail on the skin in close ups of actors is gone. Lalla Ward’s hair is like plasticine in one close up in ‘State of Decay’.

Having read Peter Crocker’s interview with the Radio Times re. Doctor Who restorations – and having read up on what has been said by Mark Ayers and Richard Bignell on GallifreyBase, via members on Blu-ray dot com’s forums – ultimately I don’t believe they want to preserve the source material in it’s truest most authentic form warts and all – collectively their vision is to ‘improve’ and ‘enhance’ it, and modernize it. As alternative special editions, that would be completely fine, but to be in charge of delivering ‘Ultimate Archival Box Sets’ as is stated on the boxsets themselves, and actively working against any such final outcome, deservingly receives the exact same constructive criticism and feedback time and time again from those of us that really want to buy this range and can’t, because so much of it is simply fake.

Watching the recently recovered Daleks’ Master Plan episodes, restored by an entirely different company, unafraid of being fully transparent, laying out the entire before and after process of the restoration, avoiding all the digital gimmicks like Vidfire, Ai, DNR, audio over processing and remixing, replacing original credits, replacing title sequences – while applying the bare essentials to make the episodes themselves watchable – was the best surprise since the episodes being found and recovered in the first place. It genuinely felt like watching a piece of television history that was far closer to the original analogue / film reels, and closer to the original broadcast.

None of this is to suggest that the vhs’es are better, the laserdiscs are better, the dvds, the fan vhs recordings, and so forth – each has their own advantages, some have unaltered segments, some have newly rescanned 16mm + 35mm segments, some have original credits, original frames, better sources here and there, etc.

The Collection Blu-rays should have been the final icing on the cake to include *all* of that together. Instead it’s the equivalent of the 2009 Beatles Album remasters – digitized, revised to death, over processed, any original detail almost compressed down to an oblivion. Given all of today’s technology the Restoration Team have had in front of them in the last 10+ years, especially now that many physical media releases now and next year are moving away from these kinds of revisionism practises that will rapidly age like milk – it’s just a total shame this had to happen to Doctor Who.

    • Babelbro

      August 25th, 2026 - 5:07pm

      *Update*

Take this info with a pinch of salt, but a rumour from GallifreyBase was shared in the last 24 hours (have just found it) that says the next Collection is Season 16, and it is scheduled for February 2027. The reason for this date being that Seasons 13 + 21 are being re-reviewed, and in light of this, Season 16’s restoration work is now being *re-done*

    • Gordon

      August 25th, 2026 - 11:42pm

That rumour and theory has been floating round for weeks and originated from roobarbs forum

    • Gordon

      August 26th, 2026 - 12:08am

Just checked back. It was first posted about 15th July over at the Peter Davison season 3 page. The main crutch of the rumour originated from a poster over at rooobarbs forum stating a guy approached them at an event mat Irvine was hosting claiming to be high up in bbc studios saying the next set (season 16) would not be out till March 2027 and would be ai free. Also claimed that animations for smugglers and massacre were also being worked on. I’m a a little skeptical on all the information that given as I was specifically told massacre was a while off but I think the rest seems plausible though I don’t think it will be as late as the March 2027 date given. It’s pretty much common knowledge they have filmed extras for smugglers back in June though that could easily be years off. A myth makers making of was filmed about 2 years ago at this point and no sign of it so far

    • Babelbro

      August 26th, 2026 - 12:46am

Well darn, I’m actually feeling a lot more positive about Doctor Who physical media again this evening.

It sounds like whatever this specific rumour is has splintered out into different platforms (Twitter, Reddit, Discord) various elements not connecting but the relevant jist of it seems to add up across them all, so that’s giving me some faith.

Unfortunately the situation is what it is, but what’s important is if the people in charge are finally going to at the very least take another look and have another go at this before moving forwards.

      Fingers crossed.

    • Professor Flibble

      August 26th, 2026 - 1:05am

My hope is that they strategise which missing stories they pair up (as in, start one before the previous is finished) so they can complete seasons. If they worked on The Wheel in Space and then The Space Pirates for instance, we’d have two Troughton seasons ready for a collection set. Smugglers and Highlanders would complete Season 4 and Myth Makers and Massacre would make Season 3 nearly complete. And if the seasons take a bit longer to come out because of them making reparations for the AI debacle, that’d give the 60s seasons an advantage.

    • ChrisP

      August 28th, 2026 - 9:37pm

I’ve preordered because I love the B7 restoration and the new fx. Which both feel very sympathetic to the original material. (As did the Paul Vanezis TVM 4k, which was of course much higher res). I’m delighted B7 is getting such great treatment for physical release – never thought it would happen.

I watch these on a 55 inch 4k tv using a 4k player (though obvs it isn’t running as 4k on the blurays). So a giant tv by 1970s standards but not especially large by modern standards.(and yes, I have my tv on movie mode and the motion smoothing turned off)

I was happy with the DW bluray restoration for every release until 13 and 21. Both of which I gave up watching because of the waxiness of the faces. I didn’t love the look generally but it was the faces that really stand out.

For me those 2 seasons are a massive dip in quality from the excellent rest of the DW bluray range and from the also excellent Blakes 7 blurays.

I’d welcome the rumoured change of approach for Season 16.

It’s been way longer since Blake’s 7 season 2 came out. They are doing this along side the doctor who sets not instead of. Not doing this does not mean we would get a doctor who set instead! Why choose when we are getting both.

    • Gordon

      August 21st, 2026 - 4:42pm

Also the money made from the dvd and blu ray releases has zero effect on the show going into tender. It’s bbc studios that produce the dvd blu ray releases. It would only get funnelled into more doctor who blu ray and animated releases. The only reason we haven’t had any announcments is simply nothing is ready

“Yet they waste money on a show that only lasted a few seasons and looks badly outdated”. Longevity is no sign of quality – B7 is 4 seasons of awesome TV. Also… classic Who doesn’t look outdated? What does it matter?

    • Bob

      August 22nd, 2026 - 5:12pm

To be honest I have no qualms in Blake’s 7 also getting The Collection treatment, in fact these Blu-Rays may convince me to give the show a go once they get a significant sale, but I do find it weird that they get updated effects on every episode compared to Doctor Who where several seasons didn’t get any at all despite it being the more popular show.

    • Auton

      August 22nd, 2026 - 7:11pm

As someone who has watched these for the first time due to these boxsets, I definitely recommend it

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      August 23rd, 2026 - 4:30am

Bob: They can reuse models here and most of the new effects are space shots, avoiding a lot of more tricky things like creatures. B7’s repeated use of stock shots also helps.

    • Gordon

      August 23rd, 2026 - 11:26am

What bob says. The liberator for example is pretty much in every ep of this series which means they can reuse it. They borrowed one for season 1 due to the tight turnaround but a new one was built for 2 onwards. Star command is used 1 2 as well as 3. The persuit ships is another one that will appear in multiple seasons. With doctor who it’s more trickier monsters or fx can be vastly different from story to story. Plus some season of doctor who needs way more work than Blake’s 7 (mostly the Pertwee and 60s seasons)

    • Bob

      August 23rd, 2026 - 1:43pm

There have definitely been stories that wouldn’t have needed that much work done, not all of them need major CGI overhauls. I understand that the budget for some seasons may get eaten up by the restoration costs (even though Season 8 was in the worst state of any Pertwee series yet still got updated effects) but I don’t get why Season 13’s new effect work had to be so lacklustre, only a small handful of shots on Terror of the Zygons. It’s a very popular season and the episode prints were in good condition, especially given that Seasons 20, 21 and 25 got far more substantial upgrades.

    • Gordon

The briefing for zygons was as far as I’m aware to replace the shots camfield wasn’t happy with and keep the shots that he was as a sort of tribute to him. Season 8 was in the worst state but in terms of restoration techniques costs cheaper than both 7 and 9. 80s seasons like 20 21 and 25 are in far better condition than 13 and would cost less to restore plus in the case of 20 had a 3 year delay which may have given it more time to get additional fx.

Most likely August like the first 2 season trailers and info were. Maybe just before the northern horizon event on 29/30 July (the season 2 trailer and info was pretty much the day before the convention though that might be coincidental). It’s probably due within the next month

At a guess Blake’s 7 season 3: November 9th to match the other 2 releases.

Season 25: late August September time

I think on reflection Blake’s Seven season 3 is my favorite season of the series. Were as season 4 is my least favorite, even with Soolin in it! Once they lost Cally it lost it’s moral center and Avon became more and more deranged, leading to the shocking ending. I expect season 3 will have a Matthew Sweet interview with Jan Chappell. I have enjoyed watching Blake’s Seven again and look forward to watching this one.

      July 6th, 2026 - 8:36pm

I’m currently part way through the season c production diary and I think with season 3 it’s the smoothest production of the 4 even with all the changes happening but it definitely has an interesting story that a making of will tell. 4 suffers in the writing as it wasn’t a season that was planned. At the writing stage the season 3 finale terminal even had a working title of finale. The changing of the theme tune probably didn’t help matters

No, that’s the date of the standard edition. The pointless simplified edition is what hasn’t been released yet.

    • Gordon

      July 16th, 2026 - 10:44pm

Makes zero sense to call the version released in 2024 “the standard edition” as nothing about that release is standard. Thats why it’s called the limited edition. The version released 2 years later is called the standard edition as it’s in standard packaging. Hope that helps you James (yes I know it’s you again!). Neither version is pointless or irrelevant

    Blake’s 7

    New

Hello all – we’ll soon be starting work on continuity packages for the BBC Blu-Ray releases of series 3 & 4 of Blake’s 7. If you have any snippets of continuity (video or audio) from either series, or know of anyone who does, that would be very helpful.

We have quite a lot of material from 1981, the repeats of series 3 in the summer and the original transmission of series 4 in the Autumn.

However, we are short of material from the original TX of series 3 (early 1980) and the repeats of series 4 (summer 83).

Please drop us a message if you can help. Even audio recordings would be useful.

    Many thanks

Hopefully there will be a tribute on the Series 4 set.

    • Gordon

      May 22nd, 2026 - 12:01am

There is only Brian Croucher, Sally Knyvette, Steven Pacey, Josette Simon and Glynis Barber of the regulars

It’s probably common knowledge now but Michael had been dealing with dementia for several years. I had known for a few years back but as I wasn’t sure how open the info all was I didn’t feel comfortable relaying it when people asked about his availability for the collection sets. Think it’s understandable he wasn’t available.

As for a biography on him for s4 there may not be time. Firstly he’s just died and the family will need time to grieve and also series 4 is already in production (Richard Ashton has already started building models for it). Plus the decision on which tributes are being done may have already been made and even if they wanted to do a tribute the budget may have been spent. Plus even if they do want to do 1 I wouldn’t expect them to approach his family till at least later in the year to give them time and even then the answer could always be no.

Slightly off topic to the blu ray but still connected to Blake’s 7 and season 3/C. Johnathan Helm for the last couple of years have been working on writing production diaries along with Graeme Robertson designing them. Both parts of the season C production diary is due for release on the 25th may from https://cultedge.art/?fbclid=IwZnRzaARnI0xleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEevTz5A12eEGxoZt66ciN0rah2XRfxzJGKqVCdom3JAuodOQrmYOtKLUNCHnE_aem_rg6hlvWUhX-jiElE6JjSQA

If you haven’t heard of them they are effectively diaries going into the behind the scenes production of Blake’s 7. The presentation is just Suberb with it easily readable and photos aplenty in a hardback book. They ain’t cheap but they are not for profit with profits going to UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Society . Season 1 is £55 and 2 £61 plus postage however there are discount codes regularly. At the moment BOOKMARK15 at the checkout gets you 15 percent off but that’s just for this week. The blu ray team actually use the books and even have Johnathan helm as a consultant on the documentaries. I highly recommend them despite the price. Such attention to detail they actually pushed back the season 3 release from November and split the book in 2 due to finding a lot of unearthed information documents and photos which shows they aren’t just rushing anything out. They are the perfect companions to the box sets and I can’t recomend them highly enough.

Only just seen your post Gordon . These sound wonderful and with the historic lack of merchandise for this great show this kind of makes up for it by the sounds of it .
Looking forward to having a more in depth look when I get a chance but they sound well worth the asking price .

Did anyone notice the odd appearance of back circles on the new CGI for S2? They appeared in many of the CGI ‘space’ scenes, especially when featuring the liberator. It wasn’t just the odd random one, it was many on the screen in very geometric patterns.

I am surprised no one has commented on them, I did think the fault was just for me, but a mate has confirmed he has the same effect on his copy

I’ve seen it mentioned but can’t remember where, they had screenshots and it did look crazy.

I mentioned an issue i’d encountered in a previous topic that nobody else seems to have or not noticed.
“A huge pipe sticking out the side of the liberators engine in Hostage. It’s bang on chapter 3 around 18:32, it’s hard to miss as it orbits the planet.”

It’s the updated effects version and a big 3D model mistake, but nobody seems to have the same issue.
We need a dedicated forum really to talk about issues, it’s hard bouncing around everywhere looking for answers.

    • Gordon

      April 28th, 2026 - 1:43am

It’s essentially circles to mask areas of light.

The pipe in hostage is probably in episode damage if memory serves

    • Breeze

      June 2nd, 2026 - 3:27pm

The pipe is huge and i’m amazed nobody else is noticing it. It just looks like a 3D model rendering error and nothing like any damage.

Been thinking of new features for season 3 and using the first 2 seasons as a template

    Alternative effects
    Season overview
    The making of Blake’s 7 season 3
    3-4 New commentaries
In conversation: jan Chappell and either Steven Pacey or josette Simon (if they can get her)
Tribute to 2 people (no idea who but maybe Paul Darrow and Peter Tuddenham. I did think maybe David Maloney but that could go on doctor who season 6)
    Convention footage of some sort

    Archive dvd content:

Audio commentary on Rumours of Death with Paul Darrow, Chris Boucher and Jan Chappell

Audio commentary on Death-Watch with Chris Boucher and actress Jacqueline Pearce

Audio commentary on Terminal with Paul Darrow, Jacqueline Pearce, David Maloney and Gareth Thomas

Ive never knowingly seen any B7. Strange really as I was the perfect age for it when it was first shown, and was a big Who fan. Going to wait and (hopefully) pick up a Complete B7 box in a couple of years time.
Annoyingly, I know the ending. That will teach me to pop onto You Tube to watch a few clips, and end up reading the comments. Shame. That climax must have been mind-blowing if you’d been watching the show in ‘real time’.

Could someone with access to social media please ask Paul V about the colour flicker on Terminal? The DVD, as well as a sound drop out on one of Tarrant’s lines, had a pink/yellow frame flicker that didn’t appear on other copies (including the master used for clips in the S2 extras).

Mark ayres is working on the sound so I’d be surprised if he misses it unless it’s something unfixable. I’m sure it will be brought up. As i understand it the restoration will already be completed for the vfx people to work on it and they do have a few ultra die hard Blake’s 7 fans working on that as well as checking them.
