Doctor Who DVD / Book: Regeneration – More Details
Doctor Who Regenerations box set
With thanks to BBC Worldwide…
Doctor Who Regeneration
Available from 24 June 2013
The Doctor Who Regeneration set is a beautifully packaged, limited edition coffee table book-styled collectors’ album including six DVDs and over 10 hours of Doctor Who footage.
The collection features each Doctor’s iconic regeneration episode; from the first Doctor played by William Hartnell, exhausted after battling the Cybermen to Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor suffering from radiation that had been unleashed by the Great One (a giant spider); and from the spectacular transformation of the Ninth Doctor to David Tennant’s emotional farewell as the Tenth.
The set is adorned with superb photography from across the era and features detailed and informative accounts of each regeneration. And if that wasn’t enough, new to DVD is The Tenth Planet featuring the Doctor’s first regeneration – beautifully restored with the missing fourth episode now brought to life with stunning animation.
Utilising the original soundtrack, off-screen photographs and a short surviving sequence of the Doctor’s regeneration the episode has been now reconstructed in animated form, incorporating the restored version of the surviving sequence.
A full list of stories included on the DVD are:
· The Tenth Planet
· The War Games
· Planet of the Spiders
· Logopolis
· The Caves of Androzani
· Time and the Rani
· Doctor Who: The Movie
· Bad Wolf & The Parting of the Ways
· The End of Time

April 25th, 2013 - 8:06pmIs there going to be a rdegion 1 cversion
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 8:23pmno, it says on doctor who.tv that there will be no region 1 version. There is however, the doctors revisited box set DVD that is exclusive to region 1.
Anonymous
April 25th, 2013 - 10:51pmYes, but we don’t get the tenth planet.
drjakeyoung
April 26th, 2013 - 8:53amthe tenth planet will be released latter this year separately in region 1, 2 and 4.
Anonymous
April 25th, 2013 - 7:46pm1000 hours? There hasn’t even been that amount of footage produced.
WHENAGOODMANGOESTOWAR
April 25th, 2013 - 9:48pmProbably has!

April 26th, 2013 - 8:29pmYou just need to do the sums to see it isn’t true, there’s been nearly 800 episodes. The average run time would need to be 1 hour and 15 minutes and very few episodes are anywhere near it.
Fled Frintstone
April 26th, 2013 - 10:04pmIt’s a typo, it should read 10 hours, rather than 1000 hours.
booboo
April 26th, 2013 - 10:07pmchanged it now, it was copied from the press release, should have picked it up really

Adipose333
April 25th, 2013 - 7:37pmI might, I’m not sure yet
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 6:48pmbooboo, could you ask BBC worldwide if they could send you a picture of the back of the box, as that is always interesting 🙂
matparks08
April 25th, 2013 - 9:14pmI’d usually agree with you on this, but this is something so exciting and different I think a few surprises would be good. Glad we can only see the Logopolis page too.
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 9:17pmThis and the complete 7th series , are the best box sets we’ve had in years! And they both come out this year!
Whovian
April 25th, 2013 - 6:39pmIs it just me who wishes they would release the book by its own??
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 6:40pmmaybe both, the book on it’s own for £10 and the book and the DVDs for £40!
Whovian
April 25th, 2013 - 6:47pmAnd it would be really great if the book was released in a SIGNED limited edition!!
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 6:50pmThat would be a great idea but I think they will only release 10,000 of these DVDs and 10,000 alone. Once they are all gone i don’t think you will ever be able to get them new again. (just look at the complete davros collection or the complete David Tennant years collection!)
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 6:16pmI felt how y felt the 1st 5 minutes of viewing this, but this is just fabulous! At the end of the day, it’s pretty much a collectors item, and for £35 on BBC shop, that is 1 heck of a deal!
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 5:39pm1. will this contain any bonus features?
2. will this include the loose cannon reconstruction as an extra, or at least the regeneration scene?
josh smith
April 25th, 2013 - 6:10pmno loose canon and no special features its a vanilla release
Fled Frintstone
April 26th, 2013 - 10:14pm1. The only bonus feature is a great big hardback book.
2. Tenth Planet will feature a new fully animated version of episode 4. It will not include the Loose Canon recon or the Doctor Who Restoration Team recon from the 2002 VHS edition.
This set will be region 2 only, however Tenth Planet will be given a stand alone regions 1, 2 and 4 release later this year complete with many bonus features (apparently including the 2002 DWRT recon.

April 25th, 2013 - 5:38pmit would be soooo cool if eccleston and mcgann met up and filmed a special scene of the regeneration just for this DVD. It would realy make it sell better.

April 25th, 2013 - 5:34pm“The Doctor Who Regeneration set is a beautifully packaged, limited edition coffee table book-styled collectors’ album including six DVDs and over 1000 hours of Doctor Who footage.”
I suspect that should read 1000 minutes 😉
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 5:30pmI said it would be like the complete David Tennant years box set!
trenzalore
April 25th, 2013 - 5:25pmi realy realy realy want to get this, i love how the cover is so simple yet so effective and iconic
drjakeyoung

Sam Bentley
April 25th, 2013 - 5:09pmI’m getting it too! Can’t wait!
Sam Bentley
April 25th, 2013 - 5:03pmOn Amazon it says it is £43.25 but at the top of this page it says £61.27. Also it says it is being released on the 10th June 2013 whereas you have but it down as the 24th… which is right?
booboo
April 25th, 2013 - 5:05pm£61.27 is the recommended retail price only – not what its likely to sell for
we have included it as it was part of the press releases
Sam Bentley
April 25th, 2013 - 5:08pmAhh okie dokie! 😛 I hope the £43 price is accurate, though I wouldn’t mind paying 60 odd quid for this!
booboo
April 25th, 2013 - 5:08pmit is

dr u no

Douglas
April 25th, 2013 - 4:16pmWouldn’t it be amazing if they released a book similar to this one, this year that would show all of the episodes, characters and aliens in great depth and detail. Similar to the Doctor Who The Legend book that came out a few years ago.
Mandrelcheese
April 25th, 2013 - 4:11pmIt looks amazing but I absolutely hate how Matt Smith is on the cover when he’s only in 2 minutes or so of the entire DVD set.
WHENAGOODMANGOESTOWAR
April 25th, 2013 - 4:15pmGood point but wait that shows matt regenerating, does this suggest a picture of his regeneration?
mr
April 25th, 2013 - 4:24pmMaybe, but it isn’t from the episode, here he has the Series 6 costume.
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 4:10pmwill you be getting this booboo? (and will you be getting the separate tenth planet?)

April 25th, 2013 - 4:10pmI’ll definately be wanting this! 😀
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 4:05pmwhy are they all 12’s?
Sam Bentley
April 25th, 2013 - 4:20pmDoctor Who has been rated a 12 on most DVDs since the release of ‘Silence in the Library’ as that was deemed to scary for PG. You could probably say that all of these are percieved as a 12 simply becuase it involves the – sort of – death of the main – and probably numerous other – characters.
LG
April 25th, 2013 - 4:20pmLogopolis is a 12, tv movie is a 12, end of time is a twelve!
mr
April 25th, 2013 - 4:25pmI need my dad to buy it unless I get it next year!
The TARDIS
April 25th, 2013 - 4:31pmEnd of time is a PG isn’t it?
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 4:50pmThe Tardis you are right. Only 2 episodes out of ten are 12’s. (unless the tenth planet latter this year is a twelve?)
Fled Frintstone
April 26th, 2013 - 10:25pmLogopolis and the uncut TV Movie are both rated 12 in the UK, rest are PG except Tenth Planet which was rated Universal back in 2002.
Sam Bentley
April 25th, 2013 - 4:01pmI think I’ll be getting this one. I like how it has Matt regenerating on the cover even though he isn’t leaving for a few good years yet! 🙂
Nicholas
April 25th, 2013 - 3:59pmFor anyone wandering. There is no 6th Doctor story because He regenerated in Time and The Rani
Nicholas
April 25th, 2013 - 3:57pmThe book layout reminds me of the Hitchcock Blu-Ray set. Shall defo be getting this
drjakeyoung
April 25th, 2013 - 3:55pmbooboo, where did you get these pictures?
