I got this before from local newsagents Alpha News for £5.99, it’s quite a good read.

Special effects means computer generated ir added in post, yet the text at the bottom suggests it also contains information about the practical effects used. If that’s the case I’ll pick it up, if not I won’t bother.

How is it six decades? Thats 60 years, and we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Who in 2013. Shouldn’t it say over 50 years?

Doesn’t mean it ended. There are other ways it can survive.

      63-73 1 decade
      73-83 2 decades
      83-93 3 decades
      93-03 4 decades
      03-13 5 decades
      13-23 6 decades

We are currently in the 6 decades section
Plus it sounds better than saying “fifty something years of art and illusion in Doctor Who” or “Not quite fifty but not quite sixty years of art and illusion in Doctor Who”

I doubt i’ll bother with this.

It sounds too much like a smaller version of the recent (and superb) Impossible Worlds book.

Impossible worlds is a book on art and design in the programme…this sounds more like how the visual effects were achieved. I’ll be getting it regardless.. The recent DWM specials have been a gold mine of info interviews and features that haven’t appeared before.
(And no, I don’t work for Panini Magazines..!)

      Sure you do! (just kidding)

I’ll no doubt have a look at it in the shop. If it goes back to the sixties and seventies in depth then it will be worth picking up but otherwise so much of this stuff is covered in the regular mag that it doesn’t warrant a purchase. Only my opinion though.
