Doctor Who Timelash Soundtrack CD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk andwww.rarewaves.com

Timelash is the fifth serial of the 22nd season in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in two weekly parts on BBC1 on 9 and 16 March 1985. It is, to date, the only television Doctor Who story to have a score been composed by a woman. In the serial, the Borad (Robert Ashby), the mutated leader of the planet Karfel, plots to start a war with the Bandril race which would wipe out both the Bandrils and Karfel’s population so that the Borad could repopulate it with his own kind to rule the planet.

Nice to hear about the release, but the plastic-y AI upscaling on the cover pics is off-putting.

I think the music in ‘Timelash’ is very good. I honestly don’t mind this story. I can tolerate it. 7/10.

    The Visitation
    The Five Doctors
    The Caves of Androzani

    Death to the Daleks
    Terror of the Zygons
    The Seeds of Doom
    The Leisure Hive

Oh and there’s other things I’d like to see get soundtracks too, the 2017 Shada score, More than 30 Years in the TARDIS and Scream of the Shalka

I’m sure the curse of fenric was done quite a few years ago, I’m sure I’ve got it on CD

There’s also ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’, and I sure that if Silva Screen gather all the relevant stock music, they could also do ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’ and ‘The Web of Fear’.

Surely the Pertwee has to be a Blyton score?

Nice to see but a rather random release, maybe because it was Liz Parker’s only story. Personally I’d like to see Logopolis get a release, yeah I know its available as isolated soundtrack

Defo would like a Logopolis soundtrack, would really like a Happiness Patrol soundtrack to be honest though.

I would definitely buy the Happiness Patrol soundtrack. Arc of Infinity too.

Is this release maybe why the isolated soundtrack for this story isn’t on the Collection boxset?

Yea Mark Ayres said he ran out of time and money to add it to the Season 22 Collection

The composers from the Radiophonic Workshop also don’t get guaranteed royalties from an isolated in-sync soundtrack, so Liz Parker can get some pennies this way too.

Wonderful, would have thought this to have come sooner, with Elizabeth Parker being a celebrated music creator, and the only Female to work on DW music other than the Goddess herself Delia Derbyshire.

Shame no Vinyl, unless it’s a silva screen ltd website exclusive(yeah I’m clutching at straws)

A long time in coming the Colin release. I expected it to be ‘Mindwarp’. Just Jon Pertwees to release. I expect it to be ‘The Sea Devils’.

      September 18th, 2026 - 1:35pm

The original idea was that at least 7 would come out of the first 7 Drs, The Daleks, Krotons, Sunmakers, Visitation, 5 Drs, Time and the Rani, all was left was a C.Baker, and a Pertwee…

Sea devils was released as a soundtrack cd in 2008

    • Peter

      September 18th, 2026 - 3:18pm

Ok, so if Sea Devils has already been released: what is the Pertwee title it’s most likely to be? Death to the Daleks, maybe?

The Sea Devils release in 2008 was the audio version of the soundtrack with narration and audio dialogue. I was referring to the isolated score.

Philip, 25 isolated score tracks (just over 44 minutes) from The Sea Devils were included on the CD ‘Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop Volume 2: New Beginnings 1970 – 1980’, released in 2000.
