Hero Collector Announces New Doctor Who Time Lords Sets!

“I’m a Time Lord. I walk in eternity.”

Hero Collector – designers, manufacturers, and publishers of high-quality collectibles from across the worlds of pop culture – is proud to announce a brand new series of Doctor Who figurine box sets.

Based on the Doctor’s encounters with other members of their Gallifreyan race, the Doctor Who Time Lords sets will give fans an opportunity to collect some of the most memorable masters of the space-time continuum.

Each of the five sets will contain two Time Lords, faithfully recreated as hand-painted polyresin figurines at 1:21 scale (approximately 3.5 inches tall), complete with an in-depth companion magazine – highlighting the history, costumes, and stories behind these characters from the longest-running science fiction show on television!

The first Doctor Who Time Lords box set reunites two old friends – The Curator (Tom Baker) and the second incarnation of Romana (Lalla Ward).

The Curator was a mysterious Time Lord played by Tom Baker, the iconic actor behind the Fourth Doctor. In his brief meeting with Matt Smith’s Doctor, he hinted that he might be another incarnation of the Doctor – who knows? Who knows. The figurine captures the older Time Lord’s pensive air, one arm leaning on a cane and the other stroking his chin.

Romana (or Romanadvoratrelundar) was a rare Time Lord companion on the Doctor’s adventures, and (even rarer) his academic superior. Initially haughty, she and the Doctor soon warmed to each other. The figurine depicts Romana in her second incarnation, played by Lalla Ward, clad in her voluminous scarf and coat (echoing the Doctor’s own iconic outfit).

The Curator & Romana Box Set is going to be solicited in the January Diamond PREVIEWS catalogue, and will be available direct from or your favourite retailer in March 2020.

The box set joins Hero Collector’s ongoing range of 1:21 scale Doctor Who figurines, which explore aliens, monsters, robots, humans and Doctors from over five decades of classic science fiction TV.

Fans and collectors should stay tuned for further details about Hero Collector’s upcoming Doctor Who Time Lords box sets and others including Daleks and companions.

I feel seriously guilty buying non-essential items like these. However, I am working from home so could actually be here to “wave a tentacle” to the DPD driver. I just wished they used Post Office as per normal collections. DPD was an issue, for me, last year and prior year.

    Anybody ordered anything recently…

      April 5th, 2020 - 9:31pm

My local postman who we regularly talk to has said that the increase in online shopping is actually keeping them in a job at this time. If they had to halt their services or stop non-essential deliveries, who knows how many staff may get laid off etc.
With royal mail they leave your parcel at the door and step back so they’re all safe.
It was peace of mind for me too because I was thinking the same.

Actually how are DPD drivers operating when dropping off stuff because they need that signature. And if people like myself are self isolating, it goes against them. Anybody who has seen seen the Ken Loach Film ‘Sorry we missed You’ will know what i,m talking about.

    • booboo

      April 6th, 2020 - 6:21am

I have had 2 DPD deliveries last week and they have not asked for a signature, they just leave the box where you ask them to and i think take a photo and sign it themselves as delivered

      both drivers were very courteous.

      April 6th, 2020 - 12:06am

Booboo i,m sorry but i did i ask a relevant comment with regards to this set and DPD deliveries why has my comment been dismissed on this occasion?

    • The Ergon

      April 6th, 2020 - 9:32am

Thankyou for clearing that up for me with regards to signatures. Given these extraordinary times i suppose any delivery company could not afford to risk their drivers and put upon them for a definite signature. In normal circumstances i do make sure i,m in or ask for an alternate date. i sometimes comment late so apologies there. And i have been self isolating and just can,t shake this cough now, so needed to query this.

    • Anonymous

      April 6th, 2020 - 9:38am

They announced a few weeks ago that all private deliveries would no longer require a signature to enable the drivers to keep their distance

it is an uncertain time when we get any figurine collections but i would like to say 3 cheers to the NHS for coping with this virus and hopefully this virus will be over soon and i do not mind if i don’t get anything i ordered until later this year or next year because the virus is more important.

Next day delivery may not occur. It may take longer.

      April 4th, 2020 - 2:25pm

It should arrive Tuesday if not then why charge for next day delivery it should just be normal postage surely

    • booboo

      April 4th, 2020 - 2:43pm

There is nothing normal in the world right now. DPD are still working to next day but things can change in an instant ie drivers / family going of ill.

      April 4th, 2020 - 7:19pm

There’s also talk of suspending all private deliveries to make use of their vans for the delivery of testing kits. So don’t assume anything at the moment.

I wonder with Hero Collector saying their new series of time lord sets dalek sets and companion sets I wonder whether or not we would be able to subscribe to this…after all it is a new series of doctor who figurines box sets? If this was to sort of replace the collection then it would give those who don’t want to go on a way out as that would “officially” be the end of that collection. Then Hero Collector takes over and those who want more can carry on with the box sets etc. Just my opinion but it makes sense in a roundabout way.Would appreciate any comments on this.what you all reckon? But no bad argumentative messages at all please

    • Whorules

      December 11th, 2019 - 1:12am

Not a bad idea to be able to subscribe to a specific set of figures like this. Especially if it’s going to be an ongoing set. Even if the main figures do continue on beyond 180 (and hopefully they will) I think quiet a lot of people would be interested in subscribing to this or other sets individually from the main range. That would also give eaglemoss an idea of the potential number of sets they could produce. For example they could say subscribe to six sets or 12 and see what interest it generates. A very sensible idea.

    • Crosby

      January 13th, 2020 - 7:33am

they could expand and do a torchwood sets
    1) Tosh and Pig Allen
    2) Owen and Wevill
    3) Ianto and Cyberwoman
    4) Gwen and Susie
    5) Jack and Yvonne Hartman

    • TARDIS_H63

      December 6th, 2019 - 11:30am

Neill, could you possibly get past the Torchwood License because Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Tosh, Weevils, Blowfish and Yvonne were in Doctor Who? And just do figurines of those characters?

    • TARDIS_H63

      December 6th, 2019 - 11:31am

Oh and same with Luke and Mr Smith from SJA

    • Anonymous

      December 6th, 2019 - 2:13pm

They are different licences. The likes of gwen and Luke were created for those specific shows, Jack is slightly different as he started in who but even then you could only do figures from those particular who stories of Jack not of him from his torchwood stories.

It’s weird seeing conversations I’ve had in the office being replicated like this. We have ideas all the time, loads more than this. Some ideas land, most crash and burn. There are tons of reasons why things end up as figurines and some do not. I love the speculation, but please don’t be disappointed if what you think we should do doesn’t appear in the collection.

    • Anonymous

      December 6th, 2019 - 12:26pm

Absolutely not, I love speculating so don’t worry Neil, I love this collection, I’ve been speculating that one day character might do 2013 cybermen figure and we’re nearly at 2020!

  • Jordan9364

    December 4th, 2019 - 5:21pm

    Phew, so now we’ve got:

    Standard Issues
    Rare Dalek Issues
    Special Issues
    Bonus Issues
    Mega Issues
    Companion Sets
    Console Issues
    and finally…
    Time Lord Sets

I’m very grateful the collection has came this far, even though I’m struggling to keep track of them all, as well as finding enough space to display them!

    • Anonymous

      December 4th, 2019 - 7:00pm

Worried I have missed something, what is the difference between specials and bonus issues?

    • Jordan9364

      December 4th, 2019 - 7:31pm

Bonus issues are basically the two Daleks that are “online exclusives”, and I think the standard K-9 is counted as a bonus too because of this same reason, even though labelled as being a Special Issue on the cover.

    • Anonymous

      December 4th, 2019 - 9:25pm

If this does end at 180/200with this extra stuff wI’ll keep us going for years to come

    • Neil

      December 8th, 2019 - 10:45am

      Whaddayamean “finally”? 🙂

    • Sean

      January 9th, 2020 - 1:20am

Next to come: Tardis Sets (Exterior Changes). I’m joking of course, but I would love to see that, then each Doctor could have their own Tardis with them. After all, size, colour and even the light & windows change over the years for the Tardis.
      Just a thought. 😉

  • Crosby

    December 4th, 2019 - 7:46am

Instead of putting Romana II with the curator they could’ve put both Romana’s together and the Curator could’ve put him with the General from day of the Doctor

    • The Flying Shark

      December 4th, 2019 - 7:52am

Both male and female Generals are going to be released together, I think. I wonder if we could get Ohila in this collection? I know Sisterhood of Karn aren’t really Time Lords but they’re related and I feel a member would be welcome in the collection, either new or classic series.

    • Neil

      December 4th, 2019 - 6:08pm

I know it’s difficult, because fan brains are wired a certain way, but please try to be happy for what something is, not be unhappy for what something isn’t.

    • The Ergon

      December 4th, 2019 - 6:50pm

Thats a great philosophy. I,m going with that from now on. Either that or i,ll stay mute.

    • Whorules

      December 4th, 2019 - 8:11pm

That sounds like such an obvious attitude to have Neil, it’s the way I look at things, but others will always find it difficult to get beyond a “but that’s not right” attitude. I’ve just bought and read master pieces , a charity collection of master stories. Now the first story takes the viewpoint that the war chief was the master, personally I don’t agree as Terrance dicks’ timewyrm book clearly indicates he wasn’t the master. Thing is is doesn’t spoil the book for me. In fact the story is quite good. I just think, interesting idea, then move on. I have friends though who would be incandescent over it! These two figures look great and that is all that matters

    • The Ergon

      December 9th, 2019 - 12:36pm

    • Anonymous

      December 9th, 2019 - 2:38pm

Ergon the series 12 negative comments have already started. I’m going to try not to read them but it’s the unjustified comments that get to me. I agree not all of series 11 stories were great but that’s an argument that can be levelled at every series of who all the way back to 1963. My problem is just the unpleasantness of the comments linked to the horrendous personal attacks on the actors and production people something which has also taken place for decades. Personally I thoroughly enjoyed Jodie’s first year and think her second looks great.

    • The Ergon

      December 9th, 2019 - 5:22pm

I also enjoyed some of Series 11 but for series 12 i,m keeping well out of it if last seasons are anything to go by. The season wasn,t flawless by a long chalk but it did have its fair share of enjoyable moments. The usual voices will come out of the woodwork once again to personally attack the actors etc, as you say, rather than deconstruct each episode in a positive light. Just wait till spyfall part one has aired, you,ll find it difficult not to want to wade into the arguments. Not me. On first viewing i,m just going to watch in awe and soak up the spectacle and look out for any future potential figures/ Figurines.

      December 9th, 2019 - 6:12pm

Actually ergon you’re right. I’ll happily watch and take from it what pleases me. But you’re right, it’ll just upset me to read the usual suspects rants so yeah, won’t read any comments, won’t even leave any comments. If the vote page is there I’ll vote then come out immediately. It’s sad I have to do that.

Are there certain figures that can’t be made due to certain rights? Just in general, not just time lords?

    • Gareth Pugh

      December 4th, 2019 - 1:34pm

The Kandyman has long been one that most licensees have given a swerve to after the CEO complained to the BBC when The Happiness Patrol was going out 31 years back (you’ll find various discussions with n the internet about that – including some on here). Also, rumour has it, any ‘new’ characters in the 1996 TV Movie (so, no Grace, Chang Lee etc) are tricky because the rights to those characters are shared between the BBC and Universal. Also, some cases where they can’t get an actor to sign off on a product (long rumoured that Eric Roberts would not permit his likeness for any Who figures, toys etc of his Master – don’t actually know if that’s true and he has recently started doing Big Finish) or they cannot track down who is looking after a deceased actor’s estate (like Edward Brayshaw who played the War Chief). For years, the writers of the Yeti stories were quite tough customers (because they felt the BBC had taken licensing liberties in the past I think) but they have passed away now I believe and things seem to have softened a bit with their estate.
