B&M 2022 The First Doctor and Electronic Tardis Set

The five new Doctor Who classic lines will be available in November 2022 at B&M stores nationwide.

We think fans will be both delighted and surprised with this rather unique set. This action figure set includes:

  • The First Doctor as portrayed by David Bradley
  • Electronic TARDIS

As fans know, in the first ever episode of the TV show we encounter the TARDIS and its owner and pilot, an alien traveller known only as The Doctor. It’s the start of a great number of adventures over many years.

Since that first show the First Doctor has been played both on screen, and in audio format, by several actors but David Bradley in both the dramatization of the early years of Doctor Who ‘An Adventure in Space & Time’ and in the twelfth Doctor Story ‘Twice Upon A Christmas’ as well as many Big Finish audio adventures, giving a very unique and powerful portrayal which really captured the essence of William Hartnell’s First Doctor.

Speaking of this wave of releases Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options, said: “This range has some real gems in it, including some not so easy to spot ones. The three figure sets are very cool and there’s at least one standout figure in each set, including a new Ninth Doctor with new components and an updated Rose V1. We also have a brand-new Angel variant as well as a physically new version of Yaz. Collectors will delight in looking for both variants of the Angel figure.

“With the Dalek sets – this time we have two absolute standout pieces with ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and my personal favourite Dalek story ‘Destiny of the Daleks’. For me it has everything and I love the look of the battered war worn Daleks. Following that and much to my own delight, is a new First Doctor figure in the form of David Bradley’s Doctor paired with a very unique looking TARDIS based more on the TARDIS look in the BBC 2013 anniversary drama story which covered the creation of the TV series.

“Lastly to go hand in hand with the Dalek sets is a great special release featuring Davros and a very special Dalek … all I can say is fans will not want to miss out on that one!”

booboo don’t suppose you could do a map specifically for tardis sets locations just so I can see if there’s a pattern or maybe find a town nearby so I can check there. It would really narrow down the possible locations. Thank you

Disgusted with B&M they put the TARDIS up twice at the same time on two days I can’t stay up so late to order them and tonight I stay up to find they don’t go back in stock… Why do B&M make it so hard and painful to get something and where the hell can I make a complaint. Can’t even get them in any B&M

They listed what they had at the time they usually update stock. Why would they treat this one item any differently? If Dr Who toys need special treatment they’ll probably just not bother as the cost would outweigh the benefit. All they could possibly do, website permitting, is limit it to one per order.
PS. The address to complain is on every page of their website.

As some predicted, doesn’t seem like they’re refilling they’re stock tonight…. At least at this time. Disappointing. I’m not even necessarily annoyed at not getting the set, but more the fact I have to wait up later than I normally would be just to see if they’re going to restock it lol.

I am waiting to be notified by email when they are back in stock that was Friday, so if it’s true what you guys are saying that they were available yesterday why haven’t they emailed me to let me know but to find out they have been back online am disgusted that b&m have not notified me to let me know it’s not fair if i’ve missed out because someone just can.t be bothered to send a simple email message it’s an absolute shambles.

It’s probably like eBay – automated notifications go out at a certain time, and if they’ve already sold out then there’s no point sending the email. I doubt B&M are used to items selling out in seconds, because most of their products… have a different demographic.

Will be ready today earlier than yesterday.

I’m thinking about buying the 8th Doctor set while I’m at it, but I’m not sure. It’s interesting that that one doesn’t seem to go out of stock, suggesting it’s one of the ones that’ll be shelf-fillers and likely reduced at some point. Hm, can’t decide whether to get it or not. Would be slightly annoyed if I bought it and then see it’s on sale for half-price elsewhere in a few months.

I wonder why the TARDIS set sells so quickly yet the 8th remains.

I’d say A) Tardisis…sus sets always sell quicker, Pupbenny, plus B) the electronic features and C) the Bradley portrait makes this set in particular unique.

It’s not quite “Peter Cushing Doctor Figure” special, but it’s quite divergent from what we usually get from this range.

    • Anonymouse

      November 20th, 2022 - 3:58pm

Surely if they’re processing orders already intent on not fulfilling them, that must contravene some selling/retail law or other? B&M not caring who these sets sell to is one thing, we’ve all accepted that, but wilfully mucking consumers about could get them into a lot of trouble, especially if said customers have been somewhat inconvenienced in order to make the purchase in the first place. At the very least, it’s not a good look for a supposedly respectable and compliant retailer, particularly at this time of year, ESPECIALLY in the current economic climate.

If they took and processed your card/payment details, you’ve every reasonable expectation to expect and if necessary demand an explanation as to why the order was cancelled.

    • Anonymous

      November 20th, 2022 - 8:21pm

Exactly what I was thinking booboo, seems very odd b and m would cancel orders at random when they have subsequently put online again(even if just for a minute).

I was enclosed to think it was either someone buying too many and/or a problem with the buyers card as apposed to the company randomly cancelling orders

    • Anonymouse

      November 20th, 2022 - 9:03pm

Ooh. OOH. Well that’d be great if they’re actively cancelling multiple orders, it’ll give the rest of us a fighting chance at getting hold of one.

I was (cynically) contemplating the opposite earlier, that maybe they were *prioritising* bulk orders over individual ones. I’d rather believe the other theory, though.

I think scalper’s must have used this site to learn that there TARDIS sets availble on B&M’s website, as it seems the only plausible explanation as to why these sets literally sold out in 30 seconds last night. Bear in mind, B&M’s website lets you order more than 1x, so scalpers could’ve possibly added 10x or 20x sets to their cart, ready to sell on eBay.

Compare this to when I bought mine 24 hours earlier on the website, the TARDIS set was available to purchase for around 4-5 hours before selling out of its stock allocation, so word hadn’t fully got “out there” yet.

B&M must take a lot of blame in this, especially as their alert system (which you have to sign up for) clearly doesn’t work and the fact they allow people to buy large quantities of what is clearly a much sought after item.

The Tardis being available on the B&M website is all over social media, Facebook groups and many other forums, some much bigger than us, so people should really stop singling us out.

I had the same problem trying to get a PlayStation 5 last year , got one from a lad at work who had loads of them and he said they use something called “bots” so as soon as something that people want comes online they can buy them all up in a couple of seconds. Then sell them for whatever.

I am totally disgusted at the way the sale of this tardis set has been handled and I think people are ordering more than 1 set hence the item is sold out. I am fed up that other people over the last couple of times are getting this set before other genuine customers I’m done with collecting as the way Band M are not putting a limit of a maximum 1 per customer is totally wrong and unfair!

    • Peter C

      November 20th, 2022 - 5:43pm

I completely agree with the above comments. Ridiculous that it goes on sale at 1am, the rest of the new stuff on website marked as in store only and the fact you can’t get any due to patchy/useless distribution in each wave/scalpers etc has turned collecting of these b and m sets from what was once enjoyable to see what would be in store around 2017/18 to an almost guarantee that you won’t get the majority of these sets unless you resort to extortionate fees on eBay. I am in North East and the last few waves haven’t made it to the South Shields branch and if they have, haven’t lasted long as I’ve not seen them at all.

If there are enough units why not leave them online till they sell out? Why hold back? They will sell regardless. Never known anything like this.
