B&M 2021 History of the Daleks #8 Figure Set

Character Options is excited to announce a next wave of Doctor Who action figure sets for 2021 with five new lines scheduled to arrive in B&M stores in Mid-October.

The line-up will introduce two more action figure three packs, two further ‘History of the Daleks’ sets, plus a rather splendid “Doctor & TARDIS” set. This new wave includes highly detailed and decorated 5.5 inch scale figures with multiple points of articulation all of which come packaged in the familiar ‘heritage’ style Doctor Who collector packs with specially created insert artwork. Once again these Limited Edition figure sets all bring something fresh to the range be it the characters themselves or variants never released before.

07440 History Daleks #8 Planet of the Daleks 1972 collector figure set
This 1972 Dalek story was wildly ambitious in scope, intending to feature a full Dalek Army. The existing three props were therefore bulked out by the arrival of brand new Dalek props. The episode also gave the Daleks new voices.

In the story the Daleks have enslaved the Planet Spiradon, and are carrying out experiments into invisibility and biological weapons. Meanwhile a group of Thals from the Daleks’ home planet are already trying to thwart their plans, but unbeknown, there is an army of 10,000 Daleks hidden on the planet. This ‘army builder’ set features two ‘drone’ style Daleks as seen in the story in their full black and metallic grey splendour. Both Daleks also have new eyestalks based on one of the variants seen onscreen. Never have the Daleks looked so purposeful, militaristic and threatening onscreen.

Al Dewar Character Options’ Creative Director said: “I think it is safe to say this swathe of releases is very different from the first release and features some truly unique characters and ‘Big hitters’. This line up represents some of the finest episodes of the Fifth Doctor, Cyber Androids with interchangeable ‘attack’ hands, a Raston Warrior Robot and a new First Doctors TARDIS that’s not just a repaint! In the Daleks sets we have also delivered something new for fans again with some truly nefarious Daleks and the first real ‘army builder’ set. We hope that our fans and followers enjoy them!”

I’d like to see the ‘Genesis’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Resurrection’, ‘Revelation’ and ‘Remembrance’ history sets with one Dalek and one Davros in each set. We really need those Davros figures re-released.

Ever since I went in the doctor who exhibition at Blackpool in the 1970s as a kid I’ve had a dalek obsession I’m in my 50s now and I still love them more from the old school era than the modern version served up now

If anyone is in the North-west of England and is still after this Planet of the Daleks set or the Evil of the Daleks set, the B&M at Riverside Retail Park had a few of each in this morning.

They also had stock of the Five Doctors set with Cyber Leader, Earthshock set.

Voord and Sensorites sets were on the shelves in greater numbers and at the lower prices (£12.99 I think)
    Good luck!

There’s a lot of stories where I think they could’ve done the same Dalek twice, but this is one where, even with the drones, I feel like they could’ve done a slight difference. Like I really like the ‘goon’ eyestalks, but it would’ve been nice to have one that had the normal eyestalk too. Then people would’ve bought too to army build on that specific type. 🙂

I’m just going to give my theories for what we might be getting for future sets:
#9). Planet of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme & Invisible Daleks
#10). Death to the Daleks – Orange Dome Light & Drone (with either normal or machine guns)
#11). Genesis of the Daleks – 2 Drones
#12). Destiny of the Daleks – Drone with Black Slats, Oval, Band & Suicide Dalek
#13). Resurrection of the Daleks – Supreme Dalek & Red/Clear Dome Light Drone
#14). Revelation of the Daleks – Necros & Skaro Daleks
#15). Remembrance of the Daleks No. 1 – Drone Imperial & Renegade Daleks
#16). Remembrance of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme Renegade Dalek & Imperial Special Weapons Dalek OR Imperial Emperor Davros
#17). Dalek – Damaged Metaltron Dalek & Repaired Metaltron Dalek
#18). The Parting of the Ways – Imperial Commander & Guard Daleks (What attachment’s they’d have, I don’t know)
#19). Doomsday – Dalek Sec & Dalek Jast OR Dalek Sec & Dalek Thay
#20). Evolution of the Daleks – Dalek Caan & Damaged Dalek Thay OR Dalek Caan & Dalek Jast
    #21). Journey’s End – Supreme & Crucible Daleks
#22). Victory of the Daleks No. 1 – Ironside Daleks with & Without Ear Covers
#23). Victory of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme Dalek & Scientist Daleks
#24). City of the Daleks game (I couldn’t think of anything else to get the rest of Paradigm Out) – Strategist & Drone Daleks
#25). The Big Bang – Eternal & Stone Daleks
#26). Asylum of the Daleks No. 1 – Parliament Strategist & Drone Daleks
#27). Asylum of the Daleks No. 2 – Asylum Daleks (Many choices to choose from – Would personally choose the Rusty ‘Death’ Dalek and RTD’s Dalek)
#28). Into the Dalek – Rusty the Good Dalek & Normal Drone Dalek

      October 4th, 2021 - 2:13pm

Likely only 6 more B&M History Dalek sets I reckon.
      #9 Death to the Daleks
      #10 Genesis of the Daleks
      #11 Destiny of the Daleks
      #12 Resurrection of the Daleks
      #13 Revelation of the Daleks
      #14 Remembrance of the Daleks
That’s probably it. There’s much more focus on classic Doctor Who at B&M.

    • Fin

      October 4th, 2021 - 5:28pm

I agree with the classic ones but I think when we get to NuWho they’ll more likely release them per series as opposed to per story because of instances such as “Dalek” and “Resolution.” Something more like:

“Series 1” – Bronze Dalek and Emperor’s Guard
“Series 2” – Dalek Sec and Dalek Thay/Jaast/Caan (up to chance, similar to the T5D set cyberman/cyberleader)
“Series 3” – Human Sec and Damaged Dalek Thay
“Series 4” – Supreme Dalek and Crucible Dalek

And so on so forth. I do also think the previous commenter has a point that maybe B&M HOTD sets will end after Remembrance, but I can see NuWho dalek sets coming straight from CO’s website.

    • Sherlocked

      October 4th, 2021 - 7:30pm

      @Dalek Eye Stalk
Planet of the Daleks Set 2 has been confirmed, and I can see them doing two sets for Remembrance with Renegade and Imperial Daleks. So 8 more? Unless they go into nu series which I can also see happening, albeit as online exclusives

    • David Minter

      October 4th, 2021 - 10:13pm

To mix up the Genesis set, I think a good idea would be one regular Dalek and one without its gun attachment in place. The separated gun attachment Dalek was already done before with the Fourth Doctor And Dalek set from a few years ago, so the mold’s basically already in place.

    • Philip Shaw

      October 5th, 2021 - 1:58pm

They had the perfect opportunity to do a gun less Dalek for the ‘Power of the Daleks’ set, but chose not to, probably so as not to upset army builders.

    • David Minter

      October 5th, 2021 - 5:34pm

I, too, commented that the Power set should have consisted of the mutant scoop Dalek and a gunless one. Or release the regular drone along with the gunless one.

Since they seem to be doing a Planet Of The Daleks set #2, there would have been a good opportunity for a Power Of The Daleks set #2 to include the gunless one.

    • Coleman

      October 5th, 2021 - 6:02pm

I can see Dalek Eye Stalks point about B&M concentrating on Classic Who as it does seem to sell better than Nu Who in any form.
But Daleks are Daleks, wether classic or Nu Who, they will sell and B&M will make all these sets like The Evil Dalek as mentioned.

    • Coleman

      October 9th, 2021 - 11:50am

Roll on the Paradigm Daleks, I love those, also include the stone version in these HOTD sets..
I know their not everyone’s cup of tea, but I rather liked them. Better than turning out one bronze Dalek after another.

Bronze and grey Daleks are my least favourites. I was watching Resurrection the other day and after the supreme dalek from planet realised The supreme from resurrection has now become
my second fave. Black with white Hemispheres works. In Third place the daleks from ‘Death.

I don’t usually like choosing between Daleks ergon.
But if I had to it would be the Remembrance Daleks, White with Gold hemispheres. (How cool).
Also to have this livery on Davros and a SWD aswell as the Standard Dalek.
      Total badass.

Just because its set 1 doesn’t mean it will be another dalek set it could be a planet of the daleks 3 pack with 5th doctor, jo grant and someone else because i highly doubt they would redo the light wave as that was a toys r us exclusive and they are have only redone one that was a toys r us exclusive and that was the supreme from the Daleks masterplan so they are tending to avoid redoing ones that have been toys r us exclusives and the supreme dalek judging by how much the original is i highly doubt they would redo that

Disappointed the Supreme Dalek isn’t there, but if they start releasing them with Drs like the Capaldi and Davros from last year, then I wouldn’t mind another Third Dr with the Supreme Dalek at some point. Drs 4-7 could come with their version of Davros and a Second Dr & Dalek Emperor from ‘Evil…’ could be an online exclusive.

I still like the look of this set, I just hope that there are some available, as they’ve blatantly been set up for army building, so there’s even more chance of someone just clearing the shelves of these as there isn’t a slight variant in this set, as in the Power/Daleks set. An excellent Dalek design though.
