Arrived the other day. Another lovely set, fits right in on the shelf beside the previous two volumes. One very small complaint is that the discs have very plain symbols for art instead of the gorgeous artwork for the separate releases. Disc 5 was a must for any DT fan.

What an absolutely gorgeous set. Big Finish have made a good attempt at keeping uniformity with the previous releases whilst still incorporating the new logo.

The book is beautiful and surpasses the previous sets by including “storyboard” fr scenes within the stories.

As far as the stories go “No Place” is my personal fave.

Its only because she is too busy…

The actors are so busy (especially since both David Tennant and one companion have to be free at the same time to record one of these) that I doubt they wait to get a fair balance between companions – they’ll just take who they can schedule together next!!!
Besides it’s probably easier to get actors who’ve done the audios before.

They dont actually have to record together at all… They can record seperate on different days…

They can do, but in this case I think part of the reason a successful actor (particularly one who’s never worked with Big Finish before) might want to do one of these sets as opposed to filming some big-budget series or taking a day off is to work with their old colleagues again.

I think/hope it will happen one day. Freema has said she is not against it. In the meantime, I’m loving Donna on these

Erm, is it just me or does anyone else find it confusing that there’s gonna be a second story set during the Great Smog of 1952*? Unless some massive temporal event happens, then The Creeping Death will be rather interesting…

    * – Amorality Tale was the first.

Same here. It seems a bit uninspired to me, which is a shame, as when Amorality Tale first used the Smog it was a brilliantly original premise. At least if the Tenth Doctor needs a watch fixing, he knows where to go…

Glad to see you posted this…

I sent this to your email a few weeks ago but as it wasn’t officially announced yet, you couldn’t post it.

I don’t like Audios as much because they’re not as entertaining as actually watching an episode with pictures.

The only thing is, does Sylvia get her memories wiped? Because if she’s experiencing aliens it sort of overides the moment in the stolen earth when Wilf tells hers that Donna has been traveling with the Doctor

It’ll probably be an Earth invasion story, so they might not explicitly say they’ve been travelling together.

    • Andrew Weaver

      October 10th, 2018 - 5:13pm

The description for her story in the set (“No Place”) indicates the Nobles are just subject to a reality show with supernatural/alien shenanigans, so that seems easy enough to avoid Sylvia learning the truth early.

Not strictly correct, in the stolen earth wilf shouts “what do you want this time you green swine”, wilf and syliva didn’t encounter anything green which suggests (and allows big finish to slot in extra stories) that there are stories involving wilf and Sylvia we haven’t seen

This is brilliant, I love everything about this, Sylvia, Wilf, Donna, Ten, Judoon, the absolute best series of Doctor Who.

I’m sure that big finish have tried getting freema, the fact that she hasn’t done any is more likely to indicate she either doesn’t want to or can’t do any. Big finish can’t make an actor reprise their role!

    • Gordon

      October 10th, 2018 - 12:34pm

Freema is currently busy filming a new American show. Might be a bit tricky at present

    • MJS

      October 10th, 2018 - 1:21pm

Michelle Gomez is filming in USA and she did one

    • Anonymous

      October 10th, 2018 - 1:38pm

Some actors are unwilling to return to their roles for a variety of reasons, and for some the main benefit of recording is to work with their ex co-stars again (meaning that location and scheduling are indeed factors).

    • Gordon

      October 10th, 2018 - 1:51pm

Just because Michelle is able to fit in recording big finish with her busy schedule doesn’t mean they can do the same with Freema. Different people have different schedules. They also had an added advantage of having worked with Michelle previously. Probably easier to work out something because of that.

      October 10th, 2018 - 2:36pm

Freema also appeared in Torchwood audios, it’s probably that she’s too busy

    • Matt

      October 10th, 2018 - 3:21pm

On one of the Podcasts (probably going back a year or more now) they said Freema had been approached but didn’t want to do any Doctor Who at that time, plus she was busy.

The dream team of the 10th, Martha and Tish for me. Hardly likely.

    • TARDIS_H63

      October 10th, 2018 - 4:36pm

Freema herself at a convention has said that she would love to do big finish but she has been unable to because of her scedule and where she was in the world. She said she would like to one day.

The Doctor/Donna would be sufficient reason enough, but Wilf and Sylvia too.

Superb news. so looking forward to this.
