May 18th, 2016 - 5:02pmI’m still hoping it’s a fake out. Titan promised that Clara would be part of the comic throughout Year 2; to pull her out after only 5 issues just doesn’t feel fair. And there is no reason to pull Clara out right now because until Bill is introduced they can keep Clara and the Doctor going for a while longer (and in fact they may run the risk of going against TV canon if, for example, we learn that Bill is the first companion he’s had since losing Clara and saying goodbye to River – which would leave zero room for a placeholder, because that’s the best a new companion could hope to be at this point, right? The fact they’re keeping schtum on the new companion (as opposed to the months-in-advance info we got on Alice and Gabby) makes me wonder if there isn’t something else at play. True, the Free Comic Book Day story has Osgood instead of Clara or the new person, but that’s just a trifle. I hope the whole thing is bit of misdirection (sort of like how the identity of the Squire in the Eleventh Doctor series has been kept secret though some hints have been given – including some in the direction of her being Clara echo).
