The Secret in Vault 13 A Doctor Who Story 13 Paperback

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

The Secret in Vault 13 features the 13th Doctor and friends Graham, Ryan and Yasmin.

A second book, as yet untitled, will follow in autumn 2019.

Written by best-selling children’s author David Solomons!

The Doctor has never faced a challenge quite like this . . .

In the coldest spot in the universe is the Galactic Seed Vault. For generations it has existed to store and preserve examples of plant seeds from across the galaxy, ensuring that in the event of planetary catastrophe, the seeds will survive.

And at its heart lies a secret. Vault 13.

Unopened for millions of years, no one is sure what it contains. There are rumours of a great treasure, and a terrible weapon.

Now the Doctor and her companions are in a race with an ancient order known as the Gardeners of Tellus to unlock the vault. Whoever gains access first will discover the horrifying secret of the Genesis Seed.

Perfect for younger readers, this will be a must-have for fans, and a perfect introduction to Doctor Who, and the brilliant new series airing in autumn 2018.

I hate these first books, none of them have ever been able to capture an accurate depiction of the Doctor and their companions. They should hold off commissioning novels until we’ve actually seen the guys in the action first on televison. Not the authors fault I know but it’s still annoying

I really do agree. A good example was Ten in the book “The Feast of the Drowned”. WAAAAAY too comedic.

And Rory in nuclear time. He slaps Amy’s behind and is painted out as some sort of stud. I found myself changing some of the dialogue in my head so it was more believable

I am in my early 50s. Like the Target novels, we has Stunningly vibrant cover images.

Wow, they are back. This look brilliant (npi) . Strikingly colourful, and possibly the first new series Novel with an Artwork cover (not photomontage/linoblock printing)

This new era for Doctor who, is looking set to over excite an old fan

Agree, love the art cover. As a huge target fan this looks great

Each to their own! I feel that this is a particularly poor cover (But presumably aimed at children?) but then the last few Doctor Who covers for the books I have found pretty disappointing anyway. Just really haven’t been that impressed with the artwork or artists.

not sure thats the final cover, they seem to be using that format for holding images (13 doctor 13 stories had a similar one which they have since changed)

I don’t think it’s the final cover either looking at it, it looks to bland and has the 12th Doctor-esk cogs.

i’m sure it will change but its unusual to have such a hi-res pic for a holding image and not to say its not final or something

It says it is 250 pages so it’s probably a proper book!
Hope we do get some quick reads as there weren’t any for 12

Yes I’m pleased it’s 250 pages, as you say a proper book. I have missed the quick reads over the last few years as well. To those unaware of Solomons’ writing, he writes mainly children’s numerous books, but a few years ago he novelised ‘not another happy ending’ from his own screenplay. The film starred our own Karen Gillian and I enjoyed both the movie and his book. So looking forward to this.

When is says that a second book is coming late 2019 does that mean we will only be getting one book every year. Whilst I doubt it, I hope I’ve just misunderstood the text.

Regardless of what age audience it’s aimed at, that is a wonderful plot tease. The concept of a seed vault is brilliant.

So brilliant it already exists in Norway.

Sounds as dull as ditchwater to me!

It seems that a lot of people seem to like just about anything to do with the upcoming new era, regardless of how chap it really sounds/looks. Maybe we should have another novel called “The Emperor’s New Clothes”? It’d be quite apt!

And some people will criticise regardless of how it turns out. After all, one person’s ‘chap’ is another person’s solid gold…

The fact that it already exists in norway is kind of the point really. They are just taking something that already exists and giving it a sci-fi twist, they are not claiming they invented it! Chill out it’s just a kids book.

They are not claiming to have come with concept! It was in the news, now it’s a plot point in a fiction story. That happens all the time

So, is this a novel or one of those ‘quick reads’.
