I pre-ordered the Collector’s edition from the BBC Shop. It arrived early, which pleased me. The advert suggested there would be six art cards; there was a note that said there was a “special gift,” which I assume was an extra art card, since I actually got seven cards. The cover is a slipcase with an extra cardboard band to hold the cards. The discs come in a standard multi-disc plastic cover. I have checked on-line and BBC Shop is no longer posting the collector’s edition, though it still is available in Australia.

Received mine today – it is in an amaray case as opposed to digipak (kind of irritating to an OCD fan – does the standard release have amaray case format too? I’d be happier if so) but the slipcase looks much nicer in real life. The s8 art cards are nothing special, but nice enough to have.
While I confess to being disappointed in the amaray case (I would much have preferred digipak) the artwork is lovely and the discs look astonishing.

when you say slimmer is it a standard 15mm spine, like a feature film would be released in? if so it will fit my custom covers perfectly!

As it is a slipcase, will it contain the normal artwork inside? Thanks

Okay, thanks! I’m a bit OCD, and to have seven series worth of Who in digipak format with the standard covers on before suddenly having a different format would drive me insane! I saw an unboxing of the limited edition Silent set for series six and was worried it would be like that.

Love the look of the set! If it’s the same size as the previous sets then I’ll punt for it. I was disappointed at how tall the BBC Shop’s exclusive S7 set was last year.

How dare they make me look at maths in the holidays 🙄 😈 .
Apart from the maths this looks really fun, love the whole interactive ‘Press Here’ thing to hear the TARDIS noise. This is definitely a must buy for me, a big improvement on the series 7 one.
To improve they could make the TARDIS a little fatter which they may do since it’s a TBC, they could even have included a poster of the cover as it is brilliant!

Also they should have put the ‘Press Here’ button on the other side since that’s the one with the writing which again they may still do.

booboo will you be updating the DWM issue 477 thread with the inside cover that they have just released? The cover that was shown the other day was the outside packet one 😛 I may be wrong but from their website that seems to be the case! Also they have bigger images of the posters now 😀

Seeing as this was Capaldi’s first series it would have been nice to have a bit more Capaldi (still a chance i guess). But hay it still looks really nice!
