Big Finish Torchwood Aliens Among Us 2

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Big Finish picks up the events after Miracle Day with Torchwood: Aliens Among Us…

Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper have restarted Torchwood. But it’s in a very different Cardiff. Something terrible’s happened to the city. With every day getting darker, will Torchwood need to adopt a whole new approach?

5.5 Love Rat by Christopher Cooper

Captain Jack Harkness is dead, and that’s the simplest thing that’s happened to him in the last few days. Even the manner of his death is surprisingly complex, especially when it turns out that he hasn’t come back alone.

While Torchwood try and cope with a new mayor and a terrorist cell, they also have to deal with what, at first, looks to be a plague, and then turns out to be something far, far worse.

5.6 A Kill to a View by Mac Rogers

Ritz Towers is a luxury tower block so exclusive not even aliens can get a place there. Mr Colchester has somehow secured a flat at the Ritz. With the streets increasingly troubled, his husband feels safe there. The problem is that Ritz Towers is anything but safe.

For a start, the building has more tenants than it has flats. Then there are the endless dinner parties. The whole new definition of upwardly mobile. And finally, there is the very mysterious caretaker.

5.7 Zero Hour by Janine H Jones

Welcome to Deliverables. Thanks to us, Cardiff is enjoying an economic miracle. We have created thousands of jobs. We have wiped out homelessness.

More importantly, there are so many benefits to you. Deliverables will deliver your post, your packages, your meals. We are Deliverables, and we never stop.

Deliverables – we always know where to find you. Deliverables – put your life in our hands.

5.8 The Empty Hand by Tim Foley

An innocent refugee has been shot point-blank on the streets of Cardiff. It causes an upsurge in terrorist attacks.

An innocent refugee has been shot point-blank on the streets of Cardiff by a policeman. It’s a catalyst for protests in the streets.

An innocent refugee has been shot point-blank on the streets of Cardiff by Sergeant Andy Davidson. It’s the end of Torchwood as we know it.

The Torchwood logo isn’t in line. Is it? Am I going crazy because after a whole box set of someone else playing Gwen (even if it was part of the story) it meant I couldn’t enjoy it until it was revealed. It really mucked up my brain!!!!!

Although I must say that I love the box set and to me it really feels like Torchwood! (Spoilers) My favourite character is Tosh but I must admit that I love all the new characters. Tyler is awesome and I was worried that he would be a replacement for Ianto but he wasn’t! Mr Colchester is amazing!!! I was a bit worried about having an older character but he is probably my favourite character from the box set. Orr is a breath of fresh air! She/he is defenatly a character that I look forward to see progress. I must admit that I am a bit confused and annoyed that Alexandria Riley’s character (Ng) is not featured in the first box set but she is on the main credits and is in the behind the scenes booklets unless she is the fake Gwen! Things like this get on my nerves! Nether the less this is an amazing series and the new trailer sounds brilliant!!!

I noticed that about the cover art too! Guessing this isn’t the final design, You can tell from previous releases that Big Finish like to keep the artwork of those audio collections uniformed and coherent.

And btw is it confirmed that Gwen has a new voice actor? It would explain why Eve Myles is the last of the main cast to be credited rather than second after John Barrowman – too busy to record ALL her lines perhaps?

I assumed that the strange sounding voice was due to the fact that she’s possessed by someone else, I still think it’s Eve Myles though. From the descriptions I’ve read of Ng’s character I don’t believe that she is the person possessing Gwen however I do find it odd that Ng has yet to make an appearance. My personal theory is that Suzie is the one possessing Gwen.

When I first heard Gwen I didn’t think it was her. I thought it one of the new characters. I only realised that it was Gwen when she said so at the end. In the bits when it is actually Gwen talking to herself it is defenatly Eve Myles. I am not sure why they have done this. Maybe it’s so the listeners can tell the two Gwens apart.

I think the reason Alexandra Riley is getting promoted so much is because she is playing Gwen.

      SPOILERS:

      Ng stands for Not Gwen.
Gwen is played by Alexandra Riley in this series, apart from a few scenes where she is played by Eve Myles. This is because she is an alien imposter for most of it.

it is still Eve Myles playing Gwen even if she sounds different

Anyone checked out the trailer for Volume 2? It features two dialogues of “Gwen” from two different scenes one after the other, and the second one where she’s telling Anwen not to cry sounds more like Gwen than the first…

      Yes that is Eve.

My only nitpick with the first Boxset, which is really obscure, is that the sound effect for the torchwood revolving door is wrong and not like the sound effects used in outbreak where you can hear the door rolling back and locking. I have ordered about it cause I love the torchwood hub.

I have a similar problem with most their Doctor Who stuff, the TARDIS sound effect is weirdly distorted, and yet they’ll randomly use the correct sound on occasion and I have no idea why.

Lol I thought I’d be hated for my nitpicking

I think I can explain both problems here. the Torchwood revolving door probably sounds different as now we are hearing it after a bomb went off inside the hub that probably would have damaged it. as for the tardis some of you speak of if you are listening to 8th doctor audios or some of the 7th doctor audios the reason the tardis sounds different is that there is a bit of a difference between the sound of the classic series tardis and the tardis used in the tv movie so that would be why it changes.
