Its that time of year again with SDCC 2016 about to start
Wednesday saw previews night between 6-9 pm, that’s 2-5am in the morning for people in the UK.
From what we can see nothing new was on show.
It starts on Thursday at 9.30am which is 5.30pm in the UK so no late night waiting for any information.
If anything is on show it should soon become clear.
The only Doctor Who items we know of so far are the 2 Titans, Ghost 12th Doctor and Glitter Tardis, Titan Comics, an electronic 20 questions Tardis, 5.5 “x 7” giant mug and Rory’s Story Cubes.
This year we have noticed the “exclusive” title has been dropped in many cases and replaced with “first to market” which means it is only sold there first.
I suspect all eyes (where Doctor Who is concerned) will be on the Underground Toys Stand where, assuming its on show, something “big” is coming (and no its not the mug)…

If I’d have known of the Twitter page I may have seen the distinct colours of the Collector Series packaging…

Game Over Man
July 21st, 2016 - 11:21pmBooboo, any word on those Collector’s Series boxes you can see in the background of one of those pictures? Or am I just losing my mind?
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 11:24pmwhich picture can you link
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 11:26pmWhich picture? The only collectors series box I’m seeing is the one with the 13 doctors figures in it.
Exterminator
July 21st, 2016 - 9:31pmThey should call this the (Tom) Bakers dozen doctors collectors set (13) and popped a curator figure in too as a bonus.
The Living Shadow
July 21st, 2016 - 9:29pmThis 9th Doctor may be in his blue jumper under the leather jacket… Or am I hoping for too much?
100000BC
July 21st, 2016 - 9:22pmThis is basically following the same rules as the B&M sets but with 13 figures instead of 3: No new moulds, some complete repaints, the rest with just one or two minor paint revisions. This makes me think that the pricing difference will be similar between America and the UK – a little more than $10 per figure in the states but (possibly) as little as £5 per figure in the UK – making it £65. The previous one had new 4th and 8th Doctor sculpts and a re-working of the 10th Doctor’s head as well.
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 9:26pmthis set wont stand £100+ in the UK
gut feeling £69.99
you have to remember the 1st set was mass market and made in huge quantities so a couple of new sculpts were feasible
100000BC
July 21st, 2016 - 10:11pmMy feeling exactly. My point with the reference to the previous set is that it may have needed to be sold for a higher price.
I agree that in the UK currently, neither the kids’ nor the collectors’ markets would be willing to pay £100+ (most parents of casual viewers wouldn’t spend that much and many of the more ‘serious’ collectors already have at least 3-4 of these figures)
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 10:13pmA parent would be reluctant enough with the Curator set’s price, there’s no way that they are going to pay 100 quid for that, they would just find them all cheap on eBay instead.
The Moment
July 21st, 2016 - 9:21pmApparently these images are the products on sale now. There is a chance there is a coming soon shelf with other figures!
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:22pmLast year, the coming soon box was the glass box right behind the product stand, which appears to be lacking Doctor Who
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:18pmSo apparently every figure is a variant in some way except 12
The Moment
July 21st, 2016 - 9:16pmIs this real?

July 21st, 2016 - 9:34pmI swear it might be cus i swear i saw something when i refreshed the page?!
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:36pmIt’s clearly photoshopped, i know because I’ve done one very similar. It’s a standard white shirt with the 3.75″ waistcoat added, recoloured and with hair and a pic of the new sonic added
The Legend Doctor
July 21st, 2016 - 9:37pmOh yeah now i see it.. Must of been something else i saw then.. I can also see fade on the top of the waistcoat part :/
Tom Baker Plush
July 22nd, 2016 - 6:24pmYeah it’s fake, and the person who made it never claimed it was real
Thomas Walker
July 22nd, 2016 - 6:24pmLOL! I did this just to show what I would like released 😛 Sorry to cause confusion!
The Silent Silent
July 21st, 2016 - 9:16pmCan you buy this at the SDCC Now ???

July 21st, 2016 - 9:21pmIsn’t it odd that we haven’t heard anything from funko or Titan? Usually everything comes at you at once but it took us this long to see this and nothing else is showing up
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 9:23pmwe have had the titan info and i think funko said they wouldn’t be showing anything new (might be wrong)
we know more Funkos are coming soon though
The Silent Silent
July 21st, 2016 - 9:23pmHave any popped up on eBay ???
AngryDrashig
July 21st, 2016 - 9:02pmIs this the ‘big thing’ a batch of figures one of which appears to be repainted ..the others all having been released before they haven’t even put pat in the fur coat that was touted for release years ago. Hopeless.
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:04pmQuite a few are repainted and some have minor paint differences but none of it is anything new sculpt wise, though most are slightly different from their previous release, not that it exactly warrants an actual variant.
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 9:11pmyour not going to get major tooling variants or brand new sculpts in what will I’m sure turn out to be a set costing a few pounds a figure in the Uk
that option came and went a few years ago when retailers didn’t what it.
I’m sure they wont be producing anywhere near the same numbers of this set as the original either
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:15pmI think the fact that they didn’t include a red velvet 12 leaves a bad taste in my mouth, we’ve gotten to the point that we would welcome a simple repaint of the White shirt 12 with open arms, nevertheless it’s decent enough.
Game Over Man
July 21st, 2016 - 9:52pmSadly, yes. This set, though it may be exciting for some others, is sorta sad from my point of view.
Part Gollum Part Time Lord
July 21st, 2016 - 9:02pmDamn it! Having bought the last one, i’m not eager to buy this, despite the really good variants.

July 21st, 2016 - 9:00pmHo Hum…….wheres the Valeyard that might have been interesting…..

July 21st, 2016 - 8:55pmI think I prefer the mug…..
When The Doctor Was Me
July 21st, 2016 - 8:54pmMy only gripe with the set is theres not many variants. And it could have been easy to do.
I don’t own the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th 8th and 12th doctors from this set but others i do so i would have liked:-
11 – to be the blue TRU varient
10 – maybe aged or or time crash set variant
9 – hologram would have been good
War – jacketless
5 – burned costume
BlueBoxJackie
July 21st, 2016 - 8:50pmIt says numbered edition in the bottom corner? Does that mean they will be hard to get?
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 8:54pmnot initially i would think
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:49pmSo….can anyone tell me of there are any new variants…I cant see any.
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:51pmLooks like the 9th doctor has a blue shirt
Gareth
July 21st, 2016 - 9:08pmPlanet 1st
Two Doctors 2nd
Time Monster 3rd
Logopolis 4th
Five Doctors 5th
Real Time 6th (illustration variant)
Ghost Light 7th
Night of the Doctor 8th
Day of the Doctor War Doctor
Parting of the ways 9th
Shakespeare code 10th
Beast below 11th
Deep breath 12th (although the one in the display set is not from deep breath)
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:10pmThe sixth Doctor variant is more accurate to an audio costume than to Real Time.
Aidan Gula
July 21st, 2016 - 9:28pmThe 9th Doctor does have a blue jumper, and what do you mean by Deep Breath Twelfth? Do you mean it should be a white shirt?
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:30pmIt’s listed as being from deep breath on the box, but for some reason it’s a black shirt, I checked all the possible deep breath costumes and they are
Night gown
Hobo
Clockwork man suit
White shirt
I’m not sure where they went wrong with this…
Judooning
July 21st, 2016 - 8:49pmAbsolutely over the moon with this! It looks fantastic!
1st Dr – Amazing re-paint. Much different to the others we have
2nd Dr – Great to have an older version of him with the grey hair
3rd Dr- Brilliant! another new jacket!
4th Dr – A well needed re-release of this figure!
5th Dr- I think he has mud down his side. Great unique variant!
6th Dr – Looks lovely! Really like that colour
7th Dr – Looks like a strait forward re-release. Nothing too special
War Dr – He really needed a re-release in some form.
8th Dr – If those are cuts on his face then great! If not, a Hard to find figure had just gotten a re-release
9th Dr – Blue Jumper? Excellent.
10th Dr – Oooo, A white shirt! Haven’t had a shirt variant since the time crash set
11th Dr – Can’t make out if there are any variants with him. Will be interesting to find out
12th Dr – Again, too dark to make out if there are any variants on him.
patchy
July 21st, 2016 - 9:10pm12th Dr is black shirt
Scott Short
July 21st, 2016 - 8:46pmThis is actually a very good set, bit disappointing that the 8th doctor is the night of the doctor variant (I would have preferred a variant of him in his TV movie costume but with the gold cravat like in the comics before he swapped his green coat for a blue coat). The variants of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th doctors look great, (been waiting for the three doctors 3rd doctor variant a long time) and the new version of the 6th doctor’s blue costume is a much welcome addition, and I’m greatful that they’ve rerelease the 7th doctor in his brown coat as I missed it the first time around.
All in all this is a good set and hopefully this is just the start of new figures to come and breath new life back into this line
mark Belsom
July 21st, 2016 - 9:01pmI think its a good idea to put this particular 8th doctor in the set seeing as it’s quite a hard figure to find now.
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 9:05pmYeah, I don’t have that 8 yet.
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:38pmOk so I either spend about £70 or £80 on this. A set with about 3 or 4 figures I actually want – or I save my money and wait for Underground toys to release a new wave of figures which will hopefully include a new 12th doctor variant (red jacket or tshirt and guitar) and a 2013 cyberman.
So…I think I’m gonna go for the latter.
The astronaut of death
July 21st, 2016 - 8:42pmYeah think I will do that too.
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:44pmI agree with you Doctor Song. It should be between £50- £70. I think that is how much the Eleven Doctors one was. I can’t remember for sure though.
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 8:46pmI think you replied to the wrong bit
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:52pmYeah. Sorry about that. My laptop is playing up at the minute.
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 9:23pmIts a doubled edged sword, if you don’t buy this CO/UT will not profit and will believe no one is interested at all, therefore, that, along with a lack of funds, will bring a permanant end to the line.
I know it sucks, but the survival of the line means relying on the selling of rereleases to build up funds
Mike
July 21st, 2016 - 8:34pmI know it says three doctors but that jacket was orange and the picture and the jacket are day of the daleks red isn’t it? And is the 5th, the Colin baker regeneration figure with davisons head? Looks like mud down his jacket.
The Moment
July 21st, 2016 - 8:34pmPeople say they are all new sculpts. 8 has cuts on his face. 9 has a blue tshirt. 10 is new. 11 painted differently. And does it look like Capaldi is wearing a black jumper?
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:42pmIf you zoom in on twelve the black ends with a v shape (not like a shirt) and then there’s a bit of white (like how he sometimes wears a shirt under is jumper, although he’s never worn that combination on screen before?) it might just be a black shirted twelve though because the quality isn’t very good
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:43pmI think all of them have had some sort of repaint except on some it is more subtle like a brightening or darkening of colours
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:30pmDoes anyone have any idea of when this will be available (even if it’s just what year)? Also someone said it was $150? Is that the actual price or just a guess.
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 8:32pmIt says in one of the photos
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 8:33pmyou can see the small $ sign like the other tickets and a definite 150
gut feeling is that if FP are getting this it will go up for order very soon
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:34pmBecause on undergrounds Instagram someone said is this gonna be sold after comic con and they replied if we don’t sell out?
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 8:36pmit maybe they only have a few in the states but they would have had to make 1000’s of these to make it worthwhile
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:34pmThat’s quite cheep for 13 “collectors” figures
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:35pmIf this is £100? I’m definitely not buying!!!
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:36pmI’m super excited because I never got the 11 doctors figure set because I wasn’t into classic who then but am really into it now. I would be willing to spend more than $150 on this!
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:38pmWhen you think about it if one figure is now £15, 13 should be £195 and I’ve spent loads of money on single figures. I am definitely gonna get this!
Anonymous
July 21st, 2016 - 8:39pm$150 equals £113.58 apparently. If that is the final price, then that is just silly. This set isn’t worth that much at all. I’m quite disappointed. It just reaks of laziness and cheapness. If this, and the Missy repaint, is all that we’re getting this year, then it is one very sad year to be a Whovian indeed.
booboo
July 21st, 2016 - 8:47pmyour mathematics dont add up when the B&M sets were on sale last year for $40 (£30.29) yet they were £12.99 in the UK
not difficult to see what’s going on here
DoctorSong2016
July 21st, 2016 - 8:41pmIt’s £15 for new or recent sculpts. They make three B&M for 14.99 and that will obviously be with profit for them as well. So it should really be anywhere between 50 and 70 quid
Chris Hadden
July 21st, 2016 - 8:42pmWell on the bigger picture, you can see that it says “Numbered Edition 02323” So judging by that zero they may have made at least 10000 of them, otherwise why put the zero at the beginning? Wish someone would ask them how many have been made and if they’ll come out elsewhere later on after SDCC!
DannyTheNerd
July 21st, 2016 - 8:28pmHang on. They said thus was a long time coming. Let’s see. 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th war 9th 10th 11th 12th are all re releases and 1st 2nd and 3rd are repaints. So it took them this long to repaint 3 figures. Honestly CO get lazier and lazier by the day. However this is great for new collectors, as it’s all 13 in one set.
the doctor 19
July 21st, 2016 - 8:52pm5th has new legs , lighter trousers

war doctor is darker
9th might have a blue jumper

July 21st, 2016 - 8:24pmI’m a bit disappointed it is not worth it for the extra figures from the 11 doctors set that i have already picked up years ago but its still great for those that missed out before but i was hoping for something new

July 21st, 2016 - 8:20pmThe wait was definitely worth it! This set is great, I’ve always wanted to see a 3 doctors 3rd Doctor and I’ve needed a season 18 4th Doctor for my collection. The only figure I am disappointed with is the 12th Doctor because it is the only rerelease in the set and because the black shirt is the wrong colour from time heist, it should be a cyan blue colour. But overall love this set and couldn’t be happier!
Ian
July 21st, 2016 - 8:36pmMore than one re-release. 4, 8, War 9, 10 & 11.
I am sooo looking forward to it. As the Master said in The Ultimate Foe, “A moment like this should bs savored”.
