SDCC 2016 New 13 Doctors Figure Set on Show

Its that time of year again with SDCC 2016 about to start
Wednesday saw previews night between 6-9 pm, that’s 2-5am in the morning for people in the UK.
From what we can see nothing new was on show.
It starts on Thursday at 9.30am which is 5.30pm in the UK so no late night waiting for any information.
If anything is on show it should soon become clear.
The only Doctor Who items we know of so far are the 2 Titans, Ghost 12th Doctor and Glitter Tardis, Titan Comics, an electronic 20 questions Tardis, 5.5 “x 7” giant mug and Rory’s Story Cubes.
This year we have noticed the “exclusive” title has been dropped in many cases and replaced with “first to market” which means it is only sold there first.
I suspect all eyes (where Doctor Who is concerned) will be on the Underground Toys Stand where, assuming its on show, something “big” is coming (and no its not the mug)…

July 21st, 2016 - 8:15pm12th doctor figure = Very disappointed – would it have killed them to paint the jacket red.
11th Doctor = Again pretty dissapointed. Its just a regular 11th Doctor figure.
10th = same as the above.
9th = same as the above
War = already got it. But is it just me or is scarf a different colour.
8th = Again I already have it.
7th = Can’t see anything new – just a regular 7th doctor figure (which I’ve got)
6th = Like the figure but it’s already out.
5th = Again can’t see anything new – just regular 5th doctor figure
4th = great figure and variant but its only a slightly different colour scheme
3rd = Like this varant
2nd = Like it – from two doctors
1st = lovely variant
So overall when you rely look at it , its not actually worth it.

it will be well worth it for new / casual collectors who dont have many/any of the above

I’m fairly sure War has a black jacket and grey scarf…
But it’s quite disappointing…

remember the B&M sets are £15 in the UK and $40 in the USA, every Character item exclusive to toys r us is much ore expensive in the USA

July 21st, 2016 - 8:12pmI’m annoyed that they’ve used the old Matt Smith head sculpt when theres no reason they couldn’t have used the new one, and that they havent made a new capaldi as that one is far too tall and looks out of place! Apart from those two – absolutely love it!

The real time Doctor has a lot more detail on the waistcoat (the original was plain blue) but ‘Real Time’ is the only episode that could possibly be written for him (there seems to be a note at the bottom explaining what Real Time is – handy publicity for BF there!)

July 21st, 2016 - 8:04pmNo, 4’s the Season 18 one. 5’s the one from the Resurrection set. 6 is the Real Time one. McCoy’s the one from the first 11 Doctors set. 8’s Night Of The Doctor. And all the NuWho ones have been released before.

July 21st, 2016 - 8:13pmYeah, but changing the trousers a bit, adding baby blue to a waistcoat and extending the purple on the scarf isn’t reallt much of a variant. I wouldn’t buy that as it’s’ own figure. On the whole it’s a bit of a poor set.

July 21st, 2016 - 8:17pmSix is completely different from the other real time figure. That one is just one shade of blue throughout whereas this one is darker blue and light blue. I think it’s poor too, the only figures that really call out to me are 1, 6 and 8 (I don’t have an 8 figure yet)

I, personally, think the worst part is that some of these figures are ones that everyone already has. They even reuse McCoy from the original set (yes, the trousers are different, but that doesn’t really make much of a difference).

July 21st, 2016 - 7:52pmDefinitely a Doctors set. I’m excited! Very excited to have a huge set like this finally once more. Will probably be the £100 mark with Collector Series prices but we can hope it’s less.
But, with the fact I have so many Doctors already, I really hope pretty much every Doctor is a variant, or a Doctor I haven’t got, otherwise sacrificing a new line of figures just so one large set can return would be, well in my opinion not worth it.
Don’t get me wrong it’s great news, but as absolutely amazing it is to see that UT (and CO) are willing to invest in something we thought we’d never see (as lets be honest you’d only expect this in glory days of CO) I feel as though it may be a waste of an opportunity to do something different. Eg: Investment in Series 9 figures, investment in Classics.
I am really excited nonetheless as the last time a large scale set like this was released feels like an eternity away. This gives me a sense of nostalgia that makes me feel sad that this will almost certainly be the last of its kind…
