RSD 2026 The Rescue Vinyl LP
For more information visit www.recordstoreday.co.uk
Brand new for Record Store Day 2026, a narrated TV soundtrack of the 1965 serial starring William Hartnell as the Doctor. Comprising two episodes, The Powerful Enemy and Desperate Measures, the story features the debut of companion Vicki, played by Maureen O’Brien who now provides newly recorded linking narration and a bonus behind-the-scenes interview.
The Doctor, Ian (William Russell) and Barbara (Jacqueline Hill) discover a crashed spaceship on the planet Dido in the 25th Century. Survivors Vicki and Bennett are menaced by a terrifying native named Koquillion – or are they? The travellers risk their lives to discover the truth.
Sixty years after its original broadcast, The Rescue is presented for the first time on 140g ‘Rescue Red’ translucent vinyl in a beautifully illustrated outer sleeve depicting Koquillion, plus an illustrated inner sleeve which includes full cast and credits.

February 6th, 2026 - 4:42pmIs RSD always on a Saturday or does it Vary from Year to Year?
bryan
February 6th, 2026 - 8:35pmEvery year a Saturday in April. For RSD. It has become so popular and gives a huge cash boost to Independent record stores.
So popular that they have started a Black Friday RSD( BFRSD) for a 2nd boost much later in the year.

February 8th, 2026 - 1:33pmHello bryan, how does the Friday RSD work out as I should imagine alot of People that would like to Attend would be at Work. I should imagine Saturday would have been more Suitable for both RSD as alot more People could attend that dont have to Work weekends?

February 9th, 2026 - 1:34pmRSD organisers’s rules thumb is3rd Saturday of April each year – unless that clashes with Easter weekend in which case they either go a week before or the weekend after. Black Friday – yeah, the releases do come out on a Friday – I’ve never queued for one of those – but some of the releases end up for sale a couple of days later at places like Rough Trade etc online.

February 9th, 2026 - 4:11pmI did want to support RSD but where I live we had ONE store participating. Others were miles and miles away (nearest to me was 20miles away) I queued for three hours only to find the shop had only one of the disc I wanted and I had gone hours before I got in the shop. Kind of killed the experience for me.

February 5th, 2026 - 10:46amAs ever, these Demon/BBC releases have the most gorgeous covers .Never one to be let down. We have gone from beautiful art,to graphic design,a blip with photo covers and back to amazing Art. Oink,Dare, project 16,all delivering .
This is even a newly recorded narration with Maureen O’brien, so a CD is due to at some point (its been listed at A few other country websites)
I adore these releases and actually listen to them far more often then the CDs of old (or new in this case)
Now to get one, without the Daft Ebay prices 20 mins after RSD starts.

February 5th, 2026 - 6:28pmHear, hear (literally) … these *are* a bit of an indulgence, and a bit mad, and completely baffling to some … but equally, they are rather lovely, very listenable and highly addictive – the snap, crackle and pop of the grooves *adds* to the atmos of the Hartnell/Troughton ones. Used to dream – let’s not quite say ‘fantasise’ – about getting the tv soundtracks on vinyl when the tapes were first published, back in the day, the 24min runtime being such a neat fit per side. I was not alone! Any informed intel as to whether this might chart, if that’s even a thing, now. Ta!

February 14th, 2026 - 10:51pmOne let down for me personally: I don’t much like The Wheel in Space cover. I do wish they’d stuck with the Marco Polo–The Ice Warriors style (like with The Collection) for consistency’s sake, but aside from that one I mentioned they have all looked great in their own way.
