DATA…

Ice Warrior Lord Izlyr

From ‘The Curse of Peladon’ 1972

“You say you see this monster when there is no monster. You are trying to trick us.”

The Doctor and Jo make a test flight in the TARDIS and arrive on the planet Peladon. Materialising on the edge of a cliff below a castle, they barely leave the ship before it tumbles over the edge. Seeking help, they enter the citadel of the soon-to-be-crowned King Peladon, where the Doctor is mistaken for a human dignitary summoned to act as Chairman of a committee assessing an application by the planet to join the Galactic Federation.

The other committee members made up of Alpha Centauri, Arcturus, the Martian Lord Izlyr and his Warrior subordinate Ssorg have already arrived, but are disconcerted by the death of one of the King’s advisors, Chancellor Torbis. High Priest Hepesh, who opposes the union with the Federation, attributes Torbis’s death to the Curse of Aggedor, the Royal Beast of Peladon. Other incidents occur and the Doctor concludes that a saboteur is at work.

Just noticed that Tractator is for sale again on Robert Harrops site. Sure it was sold out a few days ago.
    MUST HAVE BEEN DREAMIMG AGAIN.

it was, they tend to hold a few back incase of ordering issues or could just be some cancelled orders

    BICKY,
Wasn’t it you that mentioned, due to environmental issues Robert Harrop would only be using bubble wrap in future for packaging. My Aggedor certainly wasn’t in bubble wrap when it came a couple of days ago.

I would have brought this but; it’s smiling ? , no battle scars / chips on helmet ? , & is wrong shade of green imo . Just too “ clean “ looking for whom it depicts. Nice try Harrop but not for me even if it hadn’t sold out.

I think they’ll alter the shade of green before we get our copies. I noticed my Aggedor is a darker brown (thus more realistic) than the one used for promotion.

J,adore my Aggedor. A lot more subtle than the eaglemoss version which even now might have looked less inferior had they scaled down the size. This was one of a few cases where they didn,t quite get it right. Not that Harrops always work either and yes i think Izlyr could do with toning down a bit before release on reflection.

      Yes Ergon.
Unlike some company’s Robert Harrop do listen to comments and act appropriately.
Big Chief Studios also listen to their fans.

      Yes Ergon.
That was an easy fix for them that wouldn’t have cost anymore money for them, they wouldn’t have swapped the antennae, just straightened original ones with pliers. Pewter is very pliable.
Done it myself with there Daleks eye and Davros’s head wires which came to me bent in transit.

Don’t know if anyone can help me with this?
I’m begining to think I dreamt this.
Months ago I believe Harrop officially anounced they were making Terileptil about the same time as Tractator.
But strangely I’ve never heard anything since.

I’m a pretty new convert to these figures but reading historical posts from other long term collectors certain figures strike a chord with people and this seems to be one of those.
      All the best.

I really think this is where they are missing out on sales. I got all of them until my nearest stockist closed Xmas 2017. 250 copies is not enough. 750 was obviously too many, but there are quite a few sensible numbers in between so I have missed out on 2.5 years of product, as have many other collectors no doubt. Things like this should not be so limited.

Sometimes ive waited a week, maybe two weeks before ordering, when they haven’t been selling fast.

Just been complaining that my Aggedor stiil hadn’t arrived yet. Then postman delivers it about 10 minutes ago.
STRANGELY though I remember someone commenting a while ago that due to environmental issues Robert Harrop was no longer using polystyrene packaging, ONLY bubble wrap. But mine seems to be packed more conventionally, some kind of polystyrene again?

I wish someone from Robert Harrop would comment on this site as to the reason he’s wearing shoes. Like Neil Corry comments on the Eaglemoss threads. Instead of leaving us in the Dark

This is how the character looked in ‘Curse of Peladon’ – I initially thought Izlyr wore boots too but I checked and it’s only in ‘Monster of Peladon’ where the Ice Lord, Azaxyr in that case, wears boots.

I think we should give credit that the sculptors for these figurines do their research although occasionally they use artistic license, such as the claws on Aggedor’s feet.

Wow. Suddenly The Gravis has sold out, after what seemed like months of Disinterest. Is there a sudden resurgenge now in Harrop figurines? I,m betting Aggedor and Izlyr aren,t that far behind. Looking forward to seeing what s coming up next week. Please be The Terileptil Leader or Android because their Doctors just aren,t quite to my taste.

I love these Harrop figurines, but can’t help thinking this one is a bit too “green”. Also, didn’t he wear boots in this story?

I thought the same initially but no Izlyr didn’t have boots – that was Azaxyr.

Another really nice sculpt I think. The Aggedor figurine arrived earlier this week and it’s fantastic – although the feet are clawed in their version not that it detracts at all. Much truer to the TV character that the Eaglemoss one in my opinion.

      July 31st, 2020 - 10:49am

      Yes,
I can’t remember him wareing shoes with trousers that have lovely little frills on the bottom. Could do with lighter shade of green also.

    • Joe 90

      July 31st, 2020 - 10:59am

Commander Azaxyr wore boots in Monster of Peladon but Slaar didn’t in Seeds of Death.

Can’t find a decent shot from Curse to see if it was boots or “shoes”

Harrop normally take great care in their attention to detail so would be out of the norm for an error like this to be made..not sure if they also have to run their prototypes past the Beeb before making them.

Try looking up the Curse of Peladon on The Doctor Who Photo Research page of face book…alternatively check out Harrops pages there….as for the numbers of the figures Number 1 is always archived at Harrops HQ…. the lowest anyone can get is 2.
