They look a whole lot nicer than the Kurt Adler ones. But they’re also more than twice as expensive….

I wonder if that TARDIS is in scale with the 3.75″ figures…?

If the Star Trek ornaments are anything to go by then these should be great.

And what is Newberry? The UK version of Hallmark? Just curious.

Barry Newberry designed the TARDIS prop that replaced the original, used regularly from The Masque of Mandragora to Shada, and as a stunt prop from Logopolis to Castrovalva and Black Orchid

This TARDIS ornament is based on the Newberry design, and is a rare example of Classic TARDIS merch being accurate to the real thing

Newberry is the name of the design head who created that version of the TARDIS set in the 1970s

The other designs were the original, by Peter Brachacki, then the refurbished version of the original that was seen from War Machines to Seeds of Doom, this one, the Tom Yardley-Jones version that was used from Leisure Hive to Survival and the one Richard Hudolin designed for the TV Movie.

In New Who, Edward Thomas designed the one used from 2005, then modified in 2010 and last seen in Twice Upon a Time, and Arwel Jones designed the current one, that’s being used by Jodie Whittaker since The Ghost Monument

The 2005 and 2010 versions of the TARDIS exterior are the ones that have the most accurate merchandise made of them, and considering I’m more of a fan of the Classic shapes, it’s a shame that most TARDIS merch is based on the “chunky” New Who ones.

In terms of what accurate Classic TARDIS merch that we have, there’s this Christmas ornament of the Newberry prop. The Character Options toys of the Classic TARDISes use what appears to be a Yardley-Jones sculpt, meaning that the recent B/M Fifth Doctor ones have been the most accurate Classic TARDISes in the action figure range. I wish in hindsight that in 2010, they used the Yardley-Jones sculpt and only produced Yardley-Jones TARDISes with it at the time, then when they had the money afterwards, produce new sculpts for the Brachacki (both versions), the Newberry and the Hudolin props. They just sort of use the Yardley-Jones sculpt and give it alterations to try and pass it off as what’s supposed to be, for instance, a Brachacki one. Not to say the Classic toys don’t look nice, but they’re mostly inaccurate.

Is this 4th Doctor a preexisting ornament? I got a 4th Doctor Christmas ornament in the US from WhoNA a few years ago and it appears to be the same one. I can’t check at the moment because the tree is tucked away, of course, until December. 🙂

The one you have is most likely the Kurt Adler one. They’ve been making DW ornys, stockings, and string lights for a few years now, some great, some not so great. I have a box full but avoid the human ones, since they tend to look like cheap McD’s toys, lol! You get more quality with Hallmark, and I have boxes and boxes full as they tend to make a lot of cool ones I like. Spidey,Star Trek,Peanuts,Simpsons,Rocketeer,6MDM,BttF,Goonies,Gremlins,SW….it’s a pretty long list, lol! I buy them every summer and Christmas while in the US. Usually a day or two after Christmas when they go on sale at 50% off. Love a good sale! lol

      Booboo

I do believe that is the one I was talking about. As I said, it’s been 4 months. 🙂 So, I’d forgotten. They look similar, but the Hallmark one, as was said, is better quality.

Any chance of these making their way to the UK? It’s hard enough trying to get the Hallmark Transformers decorations here.

I bet they don’t make it over here because of licensing issues. The US tends to do what it wants regarding other countries and their copyright or trademark laws.
