The Doctor Who Site Interactive “Classic” DVD / Blu-ray List
If you have not seen this before its been updated with the latest Blu-ray release.
This list features every UK DVD / Bluray and box set release form the “Classic” series
To go to the list click Here
Please read instructions carefully
The interactive DVD list allows you to see at a glance which Dvd’s you own and how many you still have to collect.
The main list includes all Classic stories, whether they have been released or not, we have done this in case any are recovered (and some were!) or reconstructed or animated. You can choose to see only those that have been released by clicking “Released DVD’s” on the tag line.
For the completest we have added all releases including special editions and re-visitations. Also included are all the box sets (including exclusives) although the individual DVD’s themselves are in the main list.
You can click each DVD you own which will then give you a running total at the top. Filters allow you to see which titles you still have to get.
We will be updating all lists and adding new ones as time allows.
For any questions, omissions, errors or suggestions please use the comments box. (please bear in mind some comments are months/years old here.

November 13th, 2024 - 2:18pmHeya ! I was wondering if there was an update planned to add the cover of The Celestial Toymaker and also Season 25 blu-ray 🙂
Austin Prior
January 24th, 2024 - 10:44pmIs this feature still being updated. I find it very useful but it doesn’t seem to have been updated in a while. It’s missing The Collection Season 15 and Celestial Toymaker which are currently pr-orders but it’s also missing the new version of the underwater menace.
It’d be great to see these added.
Thanks
booboo
January 25th, 2024 - 8:51amI sent the stuff across a while ago so will chase again

November 5th, 2023 - 9:49pmnot quite true, but you do need to be familiar with how your browser stores items in local storage and using the “web developer” mode to access and manipulate these. If you’re keen, look for the site among the list of those with local storage elements and find the key “DvdStorage” which should have a value akin to “<li class=”dvd1-29″>…” … this key/value pair can be copied and pasted to the same location on your new computer … ymmv, sorry

May 11th, 2018 - 2:41pmThis is a lovely site, Thank you for painstakingly putting all of the DVDs into this list. I do have a few questions as I am just starting my own collection, are all of these available to be played with Region 1 DVD players? Also I have heard that Region 2 DVD’s are much clearer than the ones for the US. I was also wondering if anyone has seen any of these “Full Collection” DVD’s that have just hit the market. I also wanted to know what I need to do to collect the Bonus Material that is available out there. Is all of this on the DVD’s listed above. I love Classic Doctor Who.

March 26th, 2018 - 12:16pmWhen I tick off all the ones I own plus the missing episodes so I get a clear idea of how many I still need. It says I need 29. Yet when I count the ones I don’t have. It says I need 45?
Then when I unselect the missing ones. It says I need 48 which is still wrong? Why is this?
booboo
March 26th, 2018 - 12:24pmare you including the box sets as they are not in the total?
just tried and all seems to working fine

March 27th, 2018 - 8:07amNo only individual stories. It’s very odd as it’s only recently been doing it the more I seem to have
booboo
March 27th, 2018 - 8:11amwill ask Luke to look at it
Jack
March 27th, 2018 - 8:20amAlso if I tick all of them including the missing episodes it says I have minus 14 to collect. So I untick the missing ones thinking it doesn’t count for them. But then it says I have 4 to collect? Even though there is much more than four missing stories

November 25th, 2023 - 10:29pmGreat list, has been really helpful- just a few short of a full collection now. Can you please add the new versions of The Underwater Menace (and the Colourised The Daleks, when they come out)?

October 9th, 2016 - 3:21pmCould you add The Daemons with the exclusive slipcover?

August 13th, 2016 - 1:36amDoctor who site should reorganize this checklist again in the form of a one time purchase Phone app for doctor who collectors. Just a close up front cover tap and see back cover. List the Main actors, guest cast, and monster with short synopsis for each episode. A disc count, listing of special features and sub headings for each Doctor. Like you would open the app and see 12 Doctor who images, one for each Doctor then you would click and see each of those doctors dvd/blurays within a collection. I would pay up to seven dollars for that.

May 25th, 2016 - 9:50pmSorry if this is a basic question but I don’t see it answered anywhere. Now I’ve got my list, can I access it again in future? Eg if I close the browser and open the page again another day? Or if I visit from a different browser or device?

April 4th, 2016 - 6:16pmHow about updating The list to include the newly released “The Underwater Menace”?
booboo
April 4th, 2016 - 6:18pmwe will asap but have a lot of things to work through at the moment
G Cooper
April 3rd, 2015 - 1:02pmOooh, I’ve got a LOT of DVDs left to get! That said, I have almost every classic era story…just that a lot of them were bought on VHS, and some (in particular McCoy’s era, plus a few others) were recorded by me straight off the telly. Still, I’d love to replace them all with official DVDs eventually. 🙂
One thing I would say though, is that this list could be a little misleading…by putting in, say, Spearhead from Space and then the Special Edition and Bluray releases of it as well. Most people are going to buy one or another to be part of their collection, NOT ALL THREE. So even though they have the story in their collection, the list would still show they’re missing 2 DVDs which are the other editions of it.
Just a thought if you’re working on any further updates to the list. 🙂
booboo
April 3rd, 2015 - 1:11pmyou just tick the other 2 that your may not be buying
the lists are aimed at completest to be honest and was started to before the special editions and bluray were even out and were added as new additions to the range
G Cooper
April 3rd, 2015 - 2:21pmFair enough, I’ll just do that then. 🙂
But yeah, there’s being a completist (having every story) and then there’s being a *Completist* (having every story in every possible edition and format). Out of the two, I’m the first type, and tend to view the second as being a bit over-the-top/redundant. 😉
booboo
April 3rd, 2015 - 2:28pmthe problem is it depends on when you started collecting, many people would have bought the 1st issue, then the special edition, then the bluray but kept all as part of their collection
Others would have come straight in with the special edition or bluray so would have no need to buy the others
we just have to cater fall all eventualities
G Cooper
April 3rd, 2015 - 3:18pmThat’s true. And others (like myself) would buy the first vanilla issue DVD, then not bother getting the special edition at all when it came out. Everyone can have different ways of collecting the same thing. 🙂
So currently, 43 DVDs down and 120 to go. But factoring in my VHS purchases and home recordings, that’s actually 159 down and 4 to go. xD

May 4th, 2014 - 11:31pmI read very briefly that there is a book about every DVD release of Doctor Who episodes.
Apparently it contains all information needed for every DVD.

May 8th, 2014 - 11:54amNot approved by the BBC and the restoration team weren’t consolted or interrviewed for it. I’m going to wait and see if restoration team do their own book officially released by BBC. As soon as its looking like its going to be out before underwater menace it will quickly out of date quickly.

May 3rd, 2014 - 10:36amI guess you like Colin as much as McCoy?
Sam Richard Bentley
May 3rd, 2014 - 10:47amHe’s up there at the top of my preference list… if McCoy is number one, Colin would have to be at number six? Eccleston, Hurt, Smith and Troughton are all in front of him.In that order. So, Eccleston would be number five, Hurt would be number four etc. etc.
Dalek1234
May 3rd, 2014 - 10:50amdo you like tom?
Sam Richard Bentley
May 3rd, 2014 - 11:16amYes. But I think he is overrated. The same with David.
Dalek1234
May 3rd, 2014 - 11:22amI agree david is definatly overrated!
my top dr is matt then Sylvester then tom then William hartnell
the astronaut of death
May 3rd, 2014 - 11:30amMy fav doctors are tom David John and matt
starshipalaska
May 4th, 2014 - 5:05pmSoon, fans won’t be able to talk about their favourite doctors on a first name basis, because of Peter Capaldi and Peter Davison. Last names won’t work either cos of Tom and Colin Baker. So looks like its full names from now on! P.S. my favourite is Troughton.
G Cooper
April 3rd, 2015 - 2:17pmThat doesn’t quite preclude the usage of names. For instance, I could just say that my favourite Doctor is Davison, and my next favourite is Colin. ;P
Although to be honest, I prefer to stick to numbers, they’re less ambiguous. So I just say that my fave Doctors are Five and Six.
Lego Whovian
March 27th, 2014 - 1:13pmI can provide better images for some of the DVD covers. Would you be willing to accept such images, which are the right dimensions (120 x 170px), and replace the existing images with these better ones?
booboo
March 27th, 2014 - 1:16pmhow do you mean better? they are all the official image covers
Lego Whovian
March 27th, 2014 - 4:09pmWell, what I mean is that some of the pictures have “TBC” written over the rating, when the actual DVDs do not. I can provide better quality pictures of those exact official covers. Would you be willing to replace the bookmarked images with ones that are closer to the front cover of actual physical copies?
booboo
March 27th, 2014 - 4:12pmi will ask Luke he does these, they have all been added when the officially images become available but that usually before its properly rated

March 31st, 2014 - 8:05pmThat’s fine, I don’t mind waiting till this weekend. So far I’ve sent you images of the front covers of “Remembrance of the Daleks: Special Edition” and “The Five Doctors: 25th Anniversary Edition” to replace the existing images of the front of the slipcovers. I can send you more now or would you prefer it if I waited to the weekend?

January 31st, 2014 - 4:16pmError? When I select the Special Edition of “Spearhead From Space” I also select the Blue-Ray (I must click again to UN-select it)! And when I close the window and open it again, the Special Edition isn’t selected anymore! 🙁

January 10th, 2014 - 12:12pmWhile I think it is a great list, I’m concerned about the inclusion of the Regeneration box set because it doesn’t count as a “Classic” DVD and is intended to be not in the same style. If the list is including that, then shouldn’t also include “The Monster Collection”, “The Doctors Revisited”, and the Blu-Ray “Series 1-4” (since I’m sure the new covers are intended to match with the logos) as well. I’m not a collector and Regeneration are my only DVDs, but I don’t want to say that I have some “Classic” DVDs.
booboo
January 10th, 2014 - 12:28pmRegenerations was included because it contained the the 10th planet which had not been release on DVD at the time, people may therefore use this release to complete their classic collection and not buy the 10th planet on its own separately , same goes for the time capsule which contained terror of the zygons before the main release.
The Monster collection are straight vanilla re-releases, not new and will be covered in a future 2005 onwards list.
The Doctors Revisited are USA releases which are not covered here neither are 2005+ episodes.
Jdogman
January 11th, 2014 - 11:16amThanks for the explanation. I’m surprised people bought this cause they were desperate to own 10th Planet. I thought though that if people did buy this to have alongside other DVDs then there would be problems filling in the gaps with the nearest 4, 9, and 10th Dr episodes, unless they had an iTunes download collection instead. I understand the Time Capsule as an exception since I consider that a substitute for Zygons and it acts more as a reward for long time collectors who can’t wait to have it. The Doctors Revisited is also an AUS release.
