Doctor Who The Early Adventures: After the Daleks

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

In After the Daleks, we discover what happens in the aftermath of The Dalek Invasion of Earth, first broadcast in 1964. Carole Ann Ford reprises her original role as classic companion Susan Foreman, and Lucy Briers (Pride and Prejudice, Emma) steps into her mother Ann Davies’ shoes as Jenny Chaplin, one of the London residents caught up in the chaos.

Producer Alfie Shaw said: “The Dalek Invasion of Earth is a classic Doctor Who story – in both senses of the term – and it is so easy to see why. Nearly fifty years later, the shots of Daleks patrolling around familiar landmarks in London are still such powerful images and continue to be relevant after all this time.

“What’s brilliant about After the Daleks is that we get to learn the consequences of the occupation, the effects it has on those who survive, both as individuals and as a society. The Doctor told Susan to have no regrets or anxieties and to go forward in all her beliefs, but that’s a big thing to ask when she undergoes such a change in her life. She’s no longer a traveller, having to help rebuild what, to her, is an alien society. Roland’s script does a great job of taking the ideas of that speech and testing them against the realities of a post-occupation society that’s full of anxieties and regrets.”

Both of these new Doctor Who – The Early Adventures stories are now available to pre-order as collector’s edition box sets (on CD at £14.99 each) or digital downloads (at £12.99 each), exclusively at the Big Finish website.

Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering both stories together in a bundle for £28 on CD or £25 on download.

Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

Could Jackie Lane consider entering the Big Finish world one day? Understanding she may not want to be heavily involved after her experience in the show but it will be a missed opportunity if she didn’t.

due to the fact that the fandom treats her character poorly and how dr who kind of killed her acting job she might not

To be fair, her character in the books haven’t been the nicest to her especially the Virgin Books she appeared in Who Killed Kennedy (1996); The Man in the Velvet Mask (1996).

I expect immediate regret once she sees the Tardis leave and realises she is stuck on Earth with stupid Humans and the place is a total dump after the Daleks have trashed the place!

These 2 Early Adventures sound amazing. It’s great to finally have a Dodo full cast story. It’s sad it’s not Jackie Lane but I sure the story will still be amazing. It’s also great to finally have a story telling the Doctors first visit to Tibet that it’s mentioned in the abominable snowmen and a story about the aftermath of Susan leaving
