I think my link was removed but it seems this is on blu ray.com now which could mean it will be officially announced today by the looks of it 🙂

I totally get that boo-boo as I saw the listen was taken down and that’s odd then gordan as I do remember in past on announcement days this hit on blu ray.com round the same time but especially don’t understand why they added a trailer too it

    • Gordon

      December 19th, 2024 - 9:51am

The trailer is for the doctor who and the daleks movie. Pretty sure it’s inclusion is by default

At least we know it’s coming. Balmy to think what’s left! Only 4 colour sets. We know the earlier ones are being planned but it’s gone so quick how we’ve got this far since the first release in 2017, loved every release, not one dud! Lovely remastering, stunning artwork, great new features.

I know feeling @nb7 might maybe be next year now two more being added instead which would be so much better for a change season 21 would be more high likely and then maybe Tom bakers one or 60s set

I wonder out off curiosity if this now means we will get season 21 sooner next year ? And then maybe a Patrick season or Tom baker ? As I thought myself if this is announced today/tomorrow

Companies hardly ever used to announce new products in December, did they? I also remember the original Spearhead DVD being put back to January after it was tentatively scheduled for December release, due to fears it would be effectively lost over the Festive season and flop. What changed?

      December 18th, 2024 - 10:44am

I am not sure any of these stories really need updated effects . Let the budget go on best possible restoration.

    • Gordon

      December 18th, 2024 - 11:11am

In agreement there but if they were to do an alternative effects version I’d go for ambassadors with the cso clean up.

    • Nb7

      December 18th, 2024 - 12:02pm

Probably around 2pm. Makes no difference either way as it’ll still be pushed back after releasing the date haha.
Seriously though, really looking forward to this. I’m happy when anything gets announced, doesn’t matter what it is I’m easily pleased.

      December 18th, 2024 - 12:09pm

@Nb7 Not every Set got pushed back. Out of all the Sets since late 2021 only 17, 22 and 25 got a new Date, the first and last by only 1 Week which is barely any difference.

As always the cover artwork and inside of season 7 are gorgeous. The cover is gorgeously colourful. Are we getting two different versions of Inferno. The 2006 DVD version and 2013 special edition version, plus a third for Inferno extras.Do we think ?All in all an exciting release. I look forward to seeing what the new special features are going to be. Looking for Mac Hulke perhaps?

I love how the cover is just full of color, it really pops.

      December 18th, 2024 - 12:14am

They always include both types of restoration, although three discs seems odd when the RSC’d episodes are usually left in SD. So either they’ve upscaled them this time, or there’s an attempt to boost the disc count when there’s not enough content for a dedicated S7 extras disc. (Another “imagined” compilation re-edit perhaps?)

      December 18th, 2024 - 12:21am

Updated effects on Spearhead from Space would be a waste. I think The Ambassadors of Death is the obvious candidate but due to the extensive restoration work required for this season, I wouldn’t be surprised if none of the stories got new effects. I’m just wondering if it’ll be Spearhead from Space or Inferno that’ll get the surround sound mix.

    • Gordon

      December 18th, 2024 - 12:22am

Guessing it’s 3 discs for inferno as it might be 8 eps to a disc

Disc 1: 2025 restoration plus optional extended ep 5 (radio broadcast deleted scene)

Disc 2 alternative ntsc restoration also with optional extended ep 5

      Disc 3: extras

      Guessed for Other extras:

They all have making ofs so won’t be getting that plus the doctor who and the third man on season 10 covers the season so won’t be getting a season overview
5.1 mix for either spearhead or inferno

      Alternative ntsc restoration for silurians

      Behind the sofa:

Not sure we are going to get alternative effects (restoration ain’t going to be cheap)

Nicholas Courtney tribute (there was one being filmed earlier in the year)

Escape room and collectors (if not here it will be season 11)

In conversation: John Levine (confirmed by himself) and also Sean Pertwee (confirmed to have been recorded in the dwm yearbook but could also be kept for 11)

Maybe something on the locations and Bessie

      December 18th, 2024 - 8:45am

I’m also assuming we’ll get the clean 3rd Doctor opening/closing titles with the “stutter” variant of the theme.

    • Gordon

      December 18th, 2024 - 8:58am

I’m pretty sure we got that on the stand alone spearhead blu ray. That’s why I didn’t mention it

    • SVH

      December 18th, 2024 - 4:53pm

@Gordon Weren’t the pics of Sean Pertwee dressed in the S7 Doctor costume, though? Would imply a S7 release rather than S11.

    • Gordon

      December 18th, 2024 - 7:13pm

The pics of Sean in costume were unrelated to the in conversation. Looking at the clip released 5 years ago of it it could be on either set https://youtu.be/dqmp2u5UH9k?si=QDEH4YNxVO0SBMsG

Given the accidental leak today with the Season 7 Collection, the range now only has one more Pertwee set left (Season 11) wow!

T.Baker has Seasons 13 & 16, Davison/C.Baker just Season 21 – so all in all, 4 colour broadcast boxsets remaining without counting the Wilderness set, and 5 Black + White boxsets tba. So near 50/50 between the two mediums.

Having watched through the recent ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ Blu Ray – I’d be curious to know if there’s any official article on the restoration process – as there used to be the Restoration Team’s website that’s since vanished (least on my web browser search anyway) as I’ve noticed the shot where Ace looks outside the classroom window there appears to be random patches of sharp ai shapes on one or two of the rooftops and brick walls – unless that’s down to extreme artifacts popping up with the higher bitrate – either way I’d love to know the technical reasons of it as none of those sharp shapes are visible on any of the prior dvds. These also appear as smaller specks on the Earth photo in Part 1, and also on the military wall map just as Gilmore meets Radcliffe.

The animations are separate from the collections, so I think S7 will follow the trend of the last couple of years and be released in March.

Maybe an announcement on Thursday. I have been waiting for it since the range began. It’s the best Pertwee season for me and I like the unique style of the whole thing.
