@Tom Williams… If This Helps, As there were no Christmas Specials from Series 11-13 (The Specials were moved to New Years for the Chibnall/Whitaker Era) But “Resolution” (2019) was included on the Series 12 Steelbook (alongside the standard DVD and Blu-Ray Release) and Eve of the Daleks from 2022 (in the The 2022 Specials Steelbook released which included ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ and ‘The Power of the Doctor’ also)

The Only One Not Included in any Steelbooks was ‘Revolution of the Daleks’ from 2021 as it wasn’t include in the Flux Season Boxset…

So far, just Revolution of the Daleks.
There is actually enough room in the Series 12 steelbook if you want to have uninterrupted steelbook consistency. Potentially The Church on Ruby Road as well but we’ll have to wait until more information about the Season “One” boxset surfaces.

Thank you both for the best advice i brought season 12 recent from cex but it says on it at the bottom plus resolution special which I didn’t understand if it was that one and the revolution off the daleks one aswell but I know atleast now the only blu ray I’m missing 🙂

Hi. If anyone has bought this can you confirm if the errors in Revelation of the Daleks have been corrected.

“Revelation – Part 2’ certainly needs fixing. Not only was there a problem with the opening shots, but one of the CGI effects from the end was missing on the blu ray”

That’s really bad. They could have least fixed that error for this set.

So our assumption that major Limited problems would be corrected for Standard releases appears to be incorrect. Disappointing, and something we should be mindful of in future.

Perhaps if they issue new discs for the standard range they would have to oblige limited purchases with a disc replacement too

      July 1st, 2024 - 8:31pm

If that’s true, does that mean they won’t bother dealing with the judder problem on Season 20?
I’ve never had 20 on disc before and was waiting for the blu-ray set, but if they can’t be bothered to fix that then I’ll just have to purchase the dvds instead.

I’ve got the DVDs from 20 and in fact all of classic who and there are very few issues with them across the full 26 years. The blurays across the range seem to littered with errors though

Whilst People Keep Mentioning Season 6 as a Possible 2nd Doctor Boxset Debut, but people overlook that as well as that season, Season 5 is pretty much complete bar one adventure – The Wheel in Space, which does have a Telesnap Reconstruction on BBC iPlayer at the moment (I have a theory that they maybe taking a little more time with the 2nd Doctor Era to cone to this set as a Majority of the Animated Recon Releases, bar 2, have been Troughton Adventures)

    Regarding the restoration sources for this Season and Season 23;

Is there any particular reason why Colin Baker’s Opening and Closing titles look like they’re from SD tapes (like Sylvester McCoy’s) rather than being near crystal clear like the film trim version used for Peter Davison’s and Tom Baker’s starfield intros?

As far as I know, the BBC had a third party company make the McCoy cgi intro, hence there is only one SD resolution source for it – but for Colin Baker’s intro, surely if it was made in the same circumstances as the other early 80’s intros, then it must exist on film somewhere? Or is that being kept back for Season 21?

I also notice that Season 2’s boxset also uses what I guess are the original transmission intros (instead of the original film trim as presented as an extra on The Power of the Daleks Blu Ray) however that said, Season 2’s broadcast intros are still as good as crystal clear looking to me.

If anyone has an answer I’d be absolutely fascinated to know, I love reading up on these restoration processes when I can.

still no date for season 22 standard yet?

      April 22nd, 2024 - 6:33pm

The Colin Baker titles were never properly archived, so they used a clean SD tape transfer found on the surviving Revelation studio footage tape. A copy of part of the opening (basically the middle) was later found in a private collection, and transferred and dropped in. Most of this is covered in the Colin Baker DVD articles on the old Restoration Team website, and as the full film has never turned up it still applies.

I’ve not looked at all of Season 2, but from what I’ve seen I thought they were using the new film transfer – just blasted with OTT noise reduction to make a smeary, posterised disappointment.

The only thing with Amazon Pre-Orders is that lately they have not been arriving on day of release, which I have experienced I pre-ordered Season 15 Limited Edition months before the due date it came out on Monday it’s not arriving until Saturday. It happened just recently with The Daleks In Colour again not arrived on the day of release.

Heard about someone complaining to amazon about the continued delayed delivery’s of doctor who items they got a refund and credit olusbthe order arriving. Its a shame home media has gone online only to preorder/purchase.
Only hmv left on thr high street. Remember the days of when there were loads of stores ypu could walk in and buy or place a preorder. It all went down hill when Woolworths went as they owned the main supplier of home media.

From memory: Revelation pt 2 reprise editing, scaling/DNR/interlacing/branching errors on video effects in Timelash/Revelation, text note errors that contradict what’s on screen in Attack.

Yes. I prefer to wait for those. I bought a few of the limited edition versions but with every one the plastic trays fell out after a time. Much prefer the standard packaging.
The booklets are nicer in the ltd versions but as Ive never read any of them I can live with the standard versions.

A question for the people who scour the internet: any news on whether any of the errors/glitches will be fixed? (My feeling is probably not – I’m guessing Meglos was quietly fixed on S18 purely because it was a contractual credit.)

From what I heard there isn’t the budget and time to fix it. However the error at the start of revelation part 2 was fixed for the American release so it might be fixed for this. Guess we will have to wait
