Definitely worth it. So far (for me) the best issue in terms of content – read everything as it was so interesting which I don’t normally do. Plus the poster really is huge, it’s like having him in the room with you. Quite unnerving really 😆

Best dr who magazine ever, 4 previews of the first 4 episodes, exclusive interviews and unlike the previous issue, focuses a lot on Capaldi and series 8, recommend it to anyone contemplating!

I,ve just been reading about ‘the lush vegetation appearing all over the world for no apparent reason’ in the frank boyce cotteril episode ‘In the forest of the night’ and it has got me speculating about a possible krynoid invasion, remembering those words the 4th doctor warned of in the seeds of doom about the spread of plant life if the krynoids took over.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    August 20th, 2014 - 3:58pm

Just found out, this is not the actual cover, just the bag’s cover that contains the magazine and free poster.

The actual cover just shows the same image of Capaldi’s Doctor on the poster, but without the Doctor’s beside him on it, says DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE in gold lettering, and says beside Capaldi’s face – PETER CAPALDI THE INTERVIEW.

To see the actual cover, click the link above to DWM’s website, then scroll down to ‘Related Articles’.

Well thoes daleks have never really gone

I hope we see the return of the paradime daleks they had so much pontential

    • The Surgeon

      August 19th, 2014 - 11:59am

I really liked the Paradigm Daleks. I find it strange that the self-designated ‘Whovians’ are the people who are most against them. It’s like the new Star Wars movie. Star Wars fans are the people who are angry that Disney are doing more films!

    • The Real McCoy

      August 19th, 2014 - 2:21pm

I obviously name myself a long term whovian. However while I don’t hate the paradigm Daleks, I do think that they lack the fear factor a bit with their bright colour scheme. Where Aslylum of the Daleks brought the darker tinge to the paintwork I prefered it but my point stands that the bronze daleks looked much more terrifying in a dark room.

    • Slitheen97

      August 19th, 2014 - 3:36pm

tbh I’m getting bored of the bronze daleks, Plus i liked the size of the Paradigm dales, they reminded me of tanks.

    • The Surgeon

      August 19th, 2014 - 7:18pm

I think the size of the Paradigm Daleks was what made them scary. It made them more powerful somehow, and that means more evil.

    • A New Dalek Paradigm

      August 19th, 2014 - 9:03pm

Nobody liked the Paradigm so they brought the Bronze Daleks back and now we’re stuck with them. I’d be very surprised if we see the Paradigm again.

    • the astronaut of death

      August 19th, 2014 - 9:14pm

I think is silly just dropping them like that. if they had 100% commitment they would have been great.

    • DoctorWHooo18

      August 20th, 2014 - 4:45pm

I quite like the idea of a mixture of the bronze and paradigm Daleks, as seen in Asylum of The Daleks. I like thinking the Bronze are expendable foot soldiers while the paradigms are the mighty forces behind Dalek schemes.

    • doctorpond393

      August 23rd, 2014 - 9:18am

In Victory of the daleks the paradigm daleks exterminated the bronze daleks for being impure, so why go back to them if they arent the ‘pure’ daleks, which the paradigm a=obviously are. just bring the 5 paradigm daleks back with a more metalic paint job for the drone, strategist and scientist and then maybe change the banana eternal to a dark grey or black.

    • CG

      August 28th, 2014 - 1:49pm

I think because of the backlash over the coloured daleks, it was said that they would never be alone in an episode without other daleks again.

    • Professor When

      August 29th, 2014 - 10:04am

That’s just weak on Moffat’s part. That would be like bringing Matt Smith back because of a negative reaction to Capaldi. He needs to stick to his guns; Doctor Who is all about change, and if he stops using a new Dalek design because a few fans don’t like it, he might as well stop making the show because some Classic series fans don’t like it.

    • The five doctors

      January 29th, 2015 - 1:53pm

Personally I think the reason the paradigm isn’t back is because of the colour as if they were black or maybe even gold they would have worked

  • The Surgeon

    August 19th, 2014 - 10:59am

Why is the Dalek all bashed and wired up? I still don’t know what to think of Capaldi. For me, Christopher Eccleston will always be the best Doctor. I think Matt Smith is a great actor, but he wasn’t supposed to play the Doctor. I don’t think Matt actually could have done an episode like Father’s Day or Boom Town, and that’s not a criticism of his talents, it’s just showing what the Doctor should be. I’m not truly going to be happy with the choice of Doctor and for his sake I hope Capaldi does well, but he has a lot of pressure to live up to.

Boom Town and Fathers Day were written with Chris in mind not Matt everyone has their reservations about a new Doctor. In my opinion Matt would’ve pulled off Boom Towm better than Chris as his better with the comedic side of the Doctor

    • The Surgeon

      August 19th, 2014 - 7:21pm

I see your point, but I think that episode would have been ruined if Moffat had written it. He would have filled it with innuendos and completely taken away the drama. Matt would have been good in this episode, but Father’s Day is an episode that in my opinion only Eccleston could have done.

I think tennant could’ve pulled it off, thinking of some of the dialogue.

You don’t know what to think of Capaldi yet because you haven’t seen him yet.

    • danpaxto

      August 23rd, 2014 - 9:31am

Just wait, Surgeon. I was at the screening in Sydney for the World Tour. There is so much more drama, the scenes are less erratic and have a more serious tone.
I think you’ll be happy with Capaldi, I’m not saying he’s like Eccleston exactly, but his Doctor is much more like Eccleston than Matt’s (who I loved also) ever was.

People are saying that the logo has changed, but it looks exactly the same since 2010, only thing I can see is that, as shown on this cover, it’s completely white, and the Tardis shaped DW logo has been ditched for good.
