Doctor Who Art of Death 11th Doctor Audio CD

Doctor Who Art of Death 11th Doctor CD

An exciting original audio story, written by James Goss and featuring the 11th Doctor, Amy and Rory, as played by Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill in the hit BBC One TV series.

The Horizon Gallery was built as a viewing point for the Paradox, a ‘transdimensional wrinkle’ in space. On their visit, the Doctor, Amy and Rory fall through cracks in Time and become dangerously involved in the fate of the Gallery and its employee Miranda…

A spoiler free review (sort of) of The Art Of Death audio CD (Part 1):

The Art Of Death begins the third year of Eleventh Doctor audio CDs. The story is written by James Goss, who also wrote books such as Doctor Who: Dead Of Winter and Torchwood: First Born, and read by Raquel Cassidy, who played Foreman Miranda Cleaves and her Ganger in The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People, who does a fairly decent job at voicing the characters. She mainly voices Penelope who is telling the listener the story of meeting The Doctor.

      Part 2:

James Goss does a good job at capturing the personalities of the characters. But Raquel Cassidy doesn’t do a good job at the characters. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not. The story is brilliant. It’s split into 20 different chapters and is very timey wimey but it’s a good concept and really helps the story.

      Part 3:

Those were the good (and bad) points but now for the things I really didn’t like:
Rory is VERY underused. He appears in chapter 15 and onwards and from then really doesn’t do anything. That’s it really. A good story which is let down
by the poor voice acting. I suggest if you want to start listening to Eleventh Doctors audio stories you listen to The Eye Of The Jungle first which has a much more relaxing atmosphere. 8/10

Can you do a quick spoiler-free review on “The Jade Pyramid” ? I will be watching that story between “Vincent and the Doctor” and “The Lodger”. Thanks

What character from the Series ? Jennifer perhaps ?

Raquel Cassidy played foreman Cleaves in series 6 episodes 5 and 6 The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People. Worst story of the series in my opinion

Oh, I thought Curse of the Blackspot or Night Terrors was the worst of the season.

I loved the ganger two parter because it was all about human nature and it had a very serious tone, the story felt serious. Do you hate it because of the jennifer monster, or because the setting is so gritty and dull ?

Raquel Cassidy? A fairly decent choice there just a shame she was in that awful story the rebel flesh/the almost people. It was boring apart from the end of the almost people (of course!) and yes that does mean I like the curse of the black spot. I actually like it a lot!
Looking forward to listening to this one. It sounds interesting. Also looking forward to darkstar academy which will hopefully be read by Karen Gillan.

Any of the story’s going to be narrated by the man himself, Matt Smith ?

I hope so, I’m getting the Hounds of Artemis, the Jade Pyramid and the Gemminni Contagion, two of which are narrated by him 🙂

I am currently writing a doctor who story. It’s called bonfire night and I’ve only written ten pages of it so far. It features the return of an old enemy or two and features the doctor on citv saying I think it has a chameleon circuit. It’s gonna be bonkers. Probably.
So what was your story about? I’d be interested to head what it was about. 🙂

I am going to start writing a story called the Unknown Artefact ,the plot goes like this:

The Doctor is now a legend, he battled numerous aliens, he saved planets, and defied death. Now a man called Captain Jack Harkness has opened ‘The Doctor’s Experience Through Time and Space’, which is a place that you can experience how hard The Doctor’s life was.But there was 1 artefact that wasn’t an artefact at all, it was real, and waiting for The Doctor to arrive.
