Character Options has unveiled details of a brand new Limited Edition Doctor Who 5.5” scale action figure. Images of the Missy figure, first in a new range of scale Doctor Who Collector Series toys were revealed by Alasdair Dewar, Product Development Director, today via video on the Character Options’ website.

Missy, played by Michelle Gomez, is a villainous Time Lady who recently revealed herself as the Doctor’s arch enemy, the Master! Missy has been firmly established as a new fan favourite character, and as a collector’s figure, she is truly a must have.

The Missy Figure will be available in two variants; a purple outfitted version with hat from the series finale episodes; and alternatively in her ‘Heaven’ outfit, hatless with black jacket and manic grin.

The Missy figures each have 18 points of articulation and are highly detailed and decorated. Each figure head can also be swapped so that both heads can be incorporated with either outfit, and they both come with accessories.

The bespoke UK Collector Series packs are perfect for display and for the first time are re-sealable, so that the figures can be enjoyed in or out of packaging without losing their collectability.

Only 4,000 units of each of the two figures are available in exclusive UK packaging at www.character-online.co.uk for a price of £19.99 each (excluding P&P). Delivery will be made to customers by early November.

Al Dewar states: “Character Options has been designing, manufacturing and marketing Doctor Who toys since 2005, so as true fans of the brand we wanted to tell collectors the latest news in the most direct, if informal way, which is why I made the announcement in person on the website.

Missy is the first of a potential new line of highly sought after 5.5-inch action figures so we expect interest to be high and we are all very excited to share this with fans and collectors alike.

“Working with Michelle Gomez was great fun and she was the best subject we ever 3D scanned, patiently holding her facial expressions including her trademark Missy “sneer” for long periods of time. We know that many collectors have been eagerly waiting to see if Missy would at some point be included within our figure range, and at last, here she is.”

Does this mean that only 4,000 are in the special UK packaging or is there only 4,000 made? I live in the US so I would really like to know because it’s crazy expensive to get in the US right now..

Its either “in stock” or “email me when in stock”

they have told me for future pre- order figures that they may do they are trying to put something in place so it doesn’t charge you straight away.

Is this gonna suffer the height issues of the 12 figure did? I.e. Way out of scale?

if you stand all the doctors together it is not to tall at all same height as 3rd and 4th doctor

    • DS

      September 25th, 2015 - 3:27pm

Yes, he is taller than he could have been.
We know from his previous doctor who appearance how he stands shorter than David Tennant and that height has been previously adjusted for other doctors such as the 7th and War Doctor but I don’t really mind.

It could be a problem if he was taller than all the doctors in any future productions though.

So do I, Australia seems to get shafted quite a lot these days. It’s all the UK (fair enough) and the US (not so fair, considering Australia has a quite a large fanbase too).

So strange/disappointing that we got the Time of the Doctor and War Doctor sets but not the Impossible Set. I was looking forward to getting the B&M 4th Doctor pack and the new 12th Doctors but no, I’ll have to pay a fortune for them on ebay.

    • booboo

      September 25th, 2015 - 7:17am

something has clearly changed with the distribution as Australia used to get a lot of things and first

I always thought demand was good there so I’m not sure why its being by past now

taking that aside its the global shipping costs that’s the killer

    • Jdog

      September 25th, 2015 - 7:29am

Character’s Twitter replied to someone with the same question saying that it would only be sold off their website and nowhere else like PopCultcha.

Strangely, there was only one place I knew that actually did stock a few of The Impossible Set which is where I bought it from, but nowhere else in AUS did. No point telling where as they would be all gone now.

I have ordered the purple varient this morning. I much prefer the colour amd costume. I also prefer the hatted head so works good for me. I must say it would have been nice for 2 heads in each set, but i’m not to fussed. In the top pic the side view of the hatted head looks great. The grin not so much. But the grin face looks very good in the faded packaging picture. Roll on the delivery! Just need a 12th doctor to go with her.

Due to so many people being greedy and ordering more than 2 (purple and black), im probably going to lose out on this, and i am not goin to look on ebay, as a new car would probably cost less.

I am only after the purple version but i really am not going to hold my breath 🙁

I agree that’s quite greedy, it’s fine if people get one of each but more than or of each is greedy and unnecessary, I want both but I can’t order until Tuesday I hope they are still there

    • Ollie

      September 25th, 2015 - 6:07am

It’s not greedy at all – it’s an investment for my collection personally. Once I’d collected all the 5in figures boxed, I started buying them loose to display in big glass cabinets. They look fantastic on display and hold their value really well. If you’re going to buy an extra two to put on eBay and make a quick buck, then yeah I’d complain but not if you’re a genuine collector. I bought three (and three Capaldis the other day) and I’m already wishing I bought four now…

    • booboo

      September 25th, 2015 - 7:09am

4000 of each is a lot to sell as a on-line exclusive to one retailer

To a certain extent the success of these may rely on core collectors buying multiples with some buying 4 to have all possible variants on display

its not greedy its what collectors do

    • Antonio Zambonini

      September 25th, 2015 - 12:36pm

I think tbh it should be like the war dr only 1 limited per customer as that was really unfair even more when it was sold out in seconds

    • the ergon

      September 25th, 2015 - 12:44pm

If there are only so many units available, is it taken into account from previous sales how many are made? Is this the trend for future 5 inch products?

    • whovian

      September 25th, 2015 - 3:06pm

I dont care what anyone says, to order more than the released variants is plain unfair to other fans who want just one.

      There should be a limit!

    • booboo

      September 25th, 2015 - 3:09pm

if they did you can probably kick goodbye to the range right now

Nothing unfair about it and collectors generally order very quickly when the item is put up

    • Ollie

      September 25th, 2015 - 6:33pm

Whovian, if you want one, order one. That’s what collectors do. Do your research online…You’ll only be annoyed when they’re sold out and going for silly money on eBay. Whether I buy one or four, I’m still a collector with an enthusiasm for the figures. Greed and fairness for other fans shouldn’t come into it. The more people who buy them, more likely Character are to make more.

      September 25th, 2015 - 12:55pm

This is 5:5, not 5 inch. Its a whole new range and it doesn,t matter if these are sporadically released or exclusive, because lets face it some of the 5 inch stuff they couldn,t clear from the retail shelves. As long as their listening to the fans and being selective what gets released, all the better. A lot of people aren,t happy with the new star wars range citing them being inarticulate, but with more accessories. It seems you can,t please everyone all the time.

    • The Rise Of Skaro

    • Cyberman Bill

      September 24th, 2015 - 11:51pm

No…. These are special… The main line is still the 3.75″. Money wise it doesn’t make sense to go back. As its been said already…. People were saying they would pay extra money to have the 5″ figures back….. Well, here is a 5″ figure, put your money where your mouth is people

I personally think £10 is a decent price, its not too pricey & not too low. I’m not a kid, but if younger kids wanted to start collecting 5inch doctor who figures, they probably wont have the money, if it £20 + P&P a figure

I just think it would be appropriate to point out that this morning in English i gave a persuasive speech on why character should change the scale of figures back to five inch. My teacher had no idea what the speech was about but gave me an A just for how persuasive my enthusiasm was.

All the five inch ones, so all the classic and 10th doctor ones and almost all the eleventh and a few 12th doctor figures. Quite a good selection, my personal favourite figures being the revenge of the cybermen three pack which is on sale in forbidden planet i think. Great set. Also b&m sell a couple of really cheap three packs if you live in the uk.
