June 12th, 2013 - 12:38amIs that picture (The one right at the top, the one with the Doctor holding the black haired woman’s hand) is he the rare variant? He has a dark purple waistcoat compared to others.
The Silent Silent
June 12th, 2013 - 6:37amI thought it was just the lighting

June 12th, 2013 - 12:41pmCould be, I was also thinking that.

Doctor Stu
June 11th, 2013 - 6:27pmWhat’s the angel like because that’s the only one I haven’t got apart from the rares
HalfPintOfInnes
June 11th, 2013 - 6:42pmIt’s pretty basic, not that great a figure, seems to be the weakest of the wave. Very little articulation, only in the shoulders and the neck, but apart from that, the figure is nice, but just lacks a decent paint application and articulation, otherwise it would be a really great figure, but I understand it’s difficult with the scale
Doctor Stu
June 11th, 2013 - 9:04pmDoes that mean it can’t really ‘weep’
HalfPintOfInnes
June 11th, 2013 - 11:34pmNo, the arms just go right over the head, it looks pretty pathetic like, but still a really nice figure
Pug in a kilt
June 11th, 2013 - 8:31amI realy need the figures as useing the ice warrior creature as Clara is not cool 🙁

HalfPintOfInnes
June 10th, 2013 - 6:20pmNo, RRP is £9.99 but BBC Shop has the Cold War Playset for an extra £1 for some reason, not sure why, but they should be £9.99 in all shops, if you’re expected to pay much more than that I would wait and buy it from somewhere else.
booboo
June 10th, 2013 - 6:29pmnot sure why one is more than the other but don’t forget BBC shop prices include post, bear that in mind

June 10th, 2013 - 8:39ami seen the new figures in toysrus yesterday me and my dad thought they looked terrible even for the scale star wars figures are much better detailed and their the same scale as these so ive decided not to but them and just stick to classic and any 5 inch ones i dont have although the sets are a very good idea and the cyberman did look pretty good
The Monitor
June 10th, 2013 - 8:16pmI neither like or dislike them. I do think that Matt Smith is incorrectly proportioned and that his face is a little like the Tarco vending machine figure. Clara, I am not convinced on either. The monster figures are great.
I am not sure about the chase element. I have every 5in single figure except one autograph card variant and one Top Trump variant. But I cannot see myself getting a full chase set. It really depressed me yesterday reading about all the variants when I have already travelled several hundred miles 1st weekend they were out.
KORSAIR
June 9th, 2013 - 7:59pmKids I have to praise you lot on your pics they are really very good.

June 10th, 2013 - 12:18pmAAAAAAAAAAAAAwwwwwwwwwwww you.
Dalek Caan
June 9th, 2013 - 6:35pmThe scale change has failed. It was supposed to get retailers back into selling Dr who, it hasn’t worked, they still don’t want to get Dr who stuff.
My evidence: Smiths, Tesco, Fenwicks and John lewis all used to sell DW stuff back in ’09 and sice then they’ve got less and less until now there is none…
whovastatron
June 9th, 2013 - 6:54pmthey’ve been out for one week. Tesco took ages to get them in the ol’ days. Entertainer has them in stock now though, they stopped DW stuff after Series 2 (I’ve been informed its because they didn’t agree with the Satan Pit). They started to get some series 6 figures last year. But now it seems they’re back in action!
TW.
Dalek Caan
June 9th, 2013 - 6:56pmYeah maybe I shouldn’t judge this early on as your right: it has only been a week
P.S what’s “TW”
Androzani12
June 9th, 2013 - 7:07pmThat’s Not evidence! maybe your store had not had the delivery yet! Character cannot deleiver a box o figures to every store in brtiain in the first weeks of release! and BOOBOO has said already their has been no reports about supermarkets getting them in… and some stores might not have put their order in yet as they might have old stock they still have not sold! so it does not mean it has not worked..
The Monitor
June 9th, 2013 - 7:28pmIt is very difficult to judge what shops other than FP and TRU will do.
Last year I explored a newly opened Smythe’s and only one DW item was there and stored sideways as there was no designated space.
John Lewis as cut its range back to plush’s. Not surprising as they sold of cheap so much Who stuff earlier in the year. I would imagine that it is not viable for them. Shame as it is such a good shop.
Debenhams had a special display stand 2-3 years ago and nothing since.
Wilco has discontinued.
Asda reduced to 2-3 items in larger stores.
The Monitor
June 9th, 2013 - 7:32pmShops like Argos only do new merchandise round about new-catalogue launches.
It is very difficult getting merchandise now. I have not seen a single shop selling the two new CB sets. One Entertainer I know only does the science sets. Another new branch has a very small range.
A large old-fashioned toy shop I visited recently is lumbered with 3-4 year old items.
The Monitor
June 9th, 2013 - 7:37pmYou can see why shops are nervous about Doctor Who.
Furthermore, many shops experienced a box of figures with one of some and four of others and were lumbered with the common ones. This frustrated the sellers as much as us buying it.
This no doubt is part of the reason for a complete new range, to divorce themselves from past niggles.
Ironically, there is so much merchandise coming out these days. No one shop even gets 10% of it in, and a whole city would not even scrape 20%. In 2007 you could buy stuff from 10 different high street shops.
KORSAIR
June 9th, 2013 - 8:44pmArgos is probably (hopefully) the best chance for new Dr Who merchandise when the new catalogue comes out, which is soon.
Booboo Jr
June 9th, 2013 - 8:46pmDo we know an exact date for the next Argos catalogue yet?
KORSAIR
June 9th, 2013 - 8:49pmI’ve been told by staff at my local Argos it’s out the end of the month.

June 9th, 2013 - 8:51pmAlright, hopefully they’ll have a lot of the new stuff.

June 14th, 2013 - 12:36pmMy local Toys R Us have said the new scale has proved so popular they’ve had to order even more stock to meet demand.

June 9th, 2013 - 6:30pmJust sent a picture for this page Booboo 😀
Booboo Jr
June 9th, 2013 - 8:40pmActually, could you not put it up. I’m going to wait until I get some more.

June 9th, 2013 - 6:20pmaccording to http://www.doctorwhotoys.net/series7.htm there are only 100 variants per wave. they also claim there are 7 variants, doctor dark purple coat, cyberman with arm gun, cyberman with arm gun and blue chest, clara pink dress, screaming angel, hologram angel and dalek sec.

June 9th, 2013 - 4:13pmQuestion! are the cardboard diorama things any good?
Mumble5557 2013
June 9th, 2013 - 5:42pmYes they are great for young children but also great for stop motions for YouTube but they are a pain to construct, well the Cold War one anyway I haven’t got the other one yet 🙂
whovastatron
June 9th, 2013 - 6:57pmThe Dalek ones awful to construct, I found the Cold War one fairly easy though..

Booboo Jr
June 9th, 2013 - 2:08pmIt’s the Mezco Nemo Cabin Control set. It’s actually a playset that has nothing to do with Doctor Who, but still looks great with the figures.
