November 24th, 2014 - 12:58pmI purchased the Touch control Sonic only yesterday and the LED will no longer light up when used, any suggestions?
Living Shadow
December 5th, 2014 - 5:53pmTake it back to the store, and if that doesn’t work, you could try and unscrew the triangle screws, and take off the silver sections, this will reveal the LED, then you can see if there’s a problem with the wires
Living Shadow
December 5th, 2014 - 5:55pmI tried doing a full disection of the toy, but I gave up as It’s hard to disect it beyond taking off the silver sections without breaking it, so be careful
What’s with the glasses ?

November 11th, 2014 - 11:38pmJust got this for my birthday, and I love it
I also got new headphones and a TARDIS Canvas bag
The Living Shadow
October 28th, 2014 - 8:09pmFinally got this from the BBC shop in Brighton… IT’S GREAT! I love the touch control gimmick, it’s not too sensitive, or not sensitive enough It’s a little tricky to get used to, especially when activating the hidden sounds, but I got used to it after a couple of goes! The paint apps are great! I love the dark bronze, and it really is very bronze, but I like it! The silver is also lighter, which is nice in contrast of the dark bronze. The lights and sounds are great, however the 3rd sound (Cybermat deactivation) is a little quiet..
The Living Shadow
October 28th, 2014 - 8:16pm(CONTINUED) …I really like the inclusion of the power core, it doesn’t have any features, e.g lights or sound, but has some nice paint apps, but it’s nice to have a simple little addition like the power core. Of course the spring-loaded extending feature is the same as usual, however in open mode, the claws do rattle a bit, but that doesn’t bother me too much! What does bother me is the battery compartment and copyright stuff. I thought the original 11th SSD was great at hiding these things, however sadly they’re both visible here….
The Living Shadow
October 28th, 2014 - 8:19pm(CONTINUED) …It doesn’t bother me too much though, as if I’m holding it, my hand will be covering it. Also it’s on the back of the SD, and I don’t plan on displaying it from the back, so, again, it won’t show.
Doctorwhofan22
November 4th, 2014 - 1:59amI have actually found one secret sound but can you tell me if there are more and how to activate them? I just got mine today and I thought it malfunctioned when i triggered the sound, so please respond.

October 23rd, 2014 - 8:31pmTo do anything with the triangular screws on this, I used a very small star screwdriver, it fits snulgly.
GallifreyanKnight
October 24th, 2014 - 12:31amI wish they hadn’t used triangular screws.
Having to buy a specialist screwdriver set for just one job is annoying.
JellyBaby100
January 4th, 2015 - 11:20pmRight? You’ve spent Β£10 quid on a specialist screwdriver already so it is a pain.
Dave
January 11th, 2015 - 1:07amMine doesn’t not make sounds anymore, it just broke after a day I extended it and It just stopped making noises did this happened to any of you? were you able to fix it?
Drew Spicer
March 25th, 2016 - 9:42amWell I did the same . But if you didn’t. Have a triangle screwdriver wat I did was I took a file and filed a star hed screwdriver oh and yes I had my sound gone plus it has a crack
How to take the 12th doctors touch controlled sonic screwdriver path to take the speaker YouTube?
Sam Richard Bentley
October 21st, 2014 - 2:02pmMine arrived today, like just five minutes ago. What do I think?
It’s amazing. The paint colours are just so superior to the original release, the sound is quieter, which is a good thing, and the touch control is amazing.
I only have two issues with it. The claws are… so loose. They rattle when extended, the whole silver component does, actually. I am tempted to try and even replace them with the claws on the original release, as surprisingly, though not perfect, they WERE better.
Sam Richard Bentley
October 21st, 2014 - 2:04pmCont.
Also – when holding down on the touch control, I am sometimes able to extend it and have the light and sound on as it extends, like in the show. I love this. BUT the reason this is an issue is because that’s not how it works every time. Usually the lights and sounds cut off for a few seconds before coming back again. Which is a shame. It looks amazing when it extends and the lights stay one.
Oh, and the power core is nice, well hidden and just a nice addition that isn’t obvious at all.
Sam Richard Bentley
October 21st, 2014 - 2:06pmOh also -the dreaded battery compartment? It’s tiny. Hardly a problem. I get that images and videos online back things look bigger, but honestly I was surprised with how small it really was.
Sam Richard Bentley
October 21st, 2014 - 2:08pmIf anyone is interested – to make the lights stay on when extending, you need to keep your thumb as still as you can whilst pressing the button with the tip of your thumb.
GallifreyanKnight
October 21st, 2014 - 6:01pmSo yours rattles too then?
If you do manage to fix it, can you tell me how?
Thanks. π
Sam Richard Bentley
October 21st, 2014 - 6:06pmI’ve been playing around for a while, trying to take it apart and replace it with the original claws, but I don’t think it’s actually possible. The only think I can think of now is trying to tighten the small metal bolts that hold the claws in place. But it seems unlikely that that will be easy to do.
The four Doctors
October 23rd, 2014 - 8:30pmIf you tighten the triangular screws the silver part stops ratling, this is what I did.
Sam Richard Bentley
October 23rd, 2014 - 8:59pmHow did you go about that? Do you have a screwdriver that fits? I have tonnes, but not one that fits.
The four Doctors
October 23rd, 2014 - 9:41pmI used a very small star screwdriver
Sam Richard Bentley
October 24th, 2014 - 12:50amHmm… will have to keep looking and see what else I have, as I tried six different screwdrivers earlier and none worked.
Chaos
September 1st, 2015 - 12:37amI find that when holding down the top of the screwdriver, the claws tighten up. So if there was a way to make it stay closer to the bottom where it connects, the claws would be way tighter. And for the rattling, I heard that it’s because the screwdriver is all one piece and not two like the younger versions. I can deal with the rattling because it honestly isn’t to big of a deal. BUT THE CLAWS, now that’s a different story. I need them to be tight and even together, because of my ocd, and because it looks better. I am going to try and find a way to upgrade it a little. If not I think I might try to make one myself. And yes that means what you think it means. I am going to try and make a sonic screwdriver… replica.
GallifreyanKnight
October 20th, 2014 - 7:35pmI got the “Touch Control” version from Winter London Film And Comic Con” yesterday, and I actually like it much more than I thought I would.
Even the obvious battery compartment doesn’t really bother me, and it’s a great upgrade from the 11th/12th “Basic” version. π
The only issue with mine, is that the green core and the claws are very loose, and rattle when in extended mode. Has anyone else had those issues?
davidLaverty
October 20th, 2014 - 8:19pmMine rattles too in extended mode but the cores alright

October 19th, 2014 - 3:45pmjust received mine (yes very odd I got a delivery on a Sunday from Amazon). Extremely impressed with the new paint applications on this. The power core is class. The new packaging impresses me more than other versions.
The battery compartment doesn’t really bother me to be honest. The overall look and feel of the Sonic is far better than any of the others. Totally impressed with this

October 18th, 2014 - 5:40pmMine was dispatched yesterday morning and was hoping that it would arrive today, sadly not so far. I suppose it will come Monday instead. Annoyingly I’ll be at college all day meaning I won’t be able to collect it when it comes.

Doctor number 10
October 17th, 2014 - 4:55amI have both single button version and touch control. Single button is nothing but the fixed version of the 11th Doctor’s Sonic (which i also have). The Touch Control is a improved version of single button. Touch Control is a whole new design. You don’t twist the top off to get to batteries like 11s Sonic and single button. Another thing i should say is that i was worried about the sonic crystal falling out kinda like the cap on the bottom of 11s Sonic. Not a problem at all. The sonic crystal on the touch control fits in nice and snug.
GallifreyanKnight
October 17th, 2014 - 11:24pmPersonally, I think the “Single Button” version is better, as it doesn’t have an ugly exposed battery compartment, or a cheap bit of molded plastic that doesn’t do anything and is just shoved into the bottom end of it.
I’ll quite happily buy the “Single Button” version off you if you don’t want it though, as it never got released in England, meaning that it’ll cost alot to import it. π
Doctor number 10
October 20th, 2014 - 10:41pmI like both but I agree, I don’t really like the exposed battery compartment on the touch control. I can easily get the single button. I also sell stuff on ebay. If you want I can do my best to help you get one. π

October 14th, 2014 - 10:46pmGot it today and it is awesome the touch activation is an inspired choice and you can extend it and close it while you activate it the hidden sounds don’t always respond but that’s ok as I don’t tend to use the often . The power core is a welcome addition as a new feature. So in a sentence BUY IT IF YOU SEE IT.

October 1st, 2014 - 12:17pmAccording to the FP website, it isn’t (the lack of UK ebay listings for this product only proves it I think).
The FP International site says that it will be in stock everywhere on the 7th of October.
If you can’t wait, you can order it from popcultcha, for around 21-22 pounds, which is around the same price as FP’s (including shipping).

September 13th, 2014 - 7:30amI just picked up the touch control sonic screwdriver, ITS A MUST BUY!!!!
The sound is quieter, its about 1-2cm shorter, the power core is awesome and clicks on really securely, it will work anywhere along the spring (eg if you pull it down slightly it will still light up), the touch control is superb working at the most minor of movements and the light is brighter. the whole design is less likely to spring out because the battery compartment is no longer in the take out bit but on the handle.
I canβt say how awesome this is!!! π
