Big Finish Lady Christina Adventures Series 2

First seen on screen in 2009’s Doctor Who story, Planet of the Dead, aristocratic adventurer Lady Christina de Souza is back in a brand new, full-cast audio drama series due for release in July 2021.

Starring Michelle Ryan (EastEnders, Doctor Who, Bionic Woman), Lady Christina series 2 comprises three new thrill-seeking stories, as the jetsetting action heroine travels to a land down under, discovers historical treasures and grapples with difficult family decisions.

Actor Michelle Ryan said: “Lady Christina is someone who’s very capable and independent. Like a cat, she does have nine lives, I really think. People seem to really respond to her.

“It’s so great to put her boots back on, and get back in the studio and have a little play. Everyone’s bringing their A-game. The writing’s really good. I’ve really had a brilliant time.”

Lady Christina 2 is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition box set or download, from just £16.99, exclusively at www.bigfinish.com.

Jetsetter, adventurer, and owner of a very unusual London bus, Lady Christina de Souza is travelling the globe and catching up with the rellies.

First, a treasure hunt with her reprobate father in the Indian Ocean. Then, a flying visit to the Australian outback in search of a lost Great Aunt…

But Sam Bishop and Jacqui McGee of UNIT are on her trail. As one reunion takes a dangerous turn, Christina has a hard decision to make – for the good of the family!

The three new fantastic tales in this series are:

The Wreck by James Goss

When Christina joins her father on a cruise off the coast of Zanzibar, she is surprised to meet his new fiancée Bunny. But Lord Alfred has his eyes on another trophy altogether. An underwater shipwreck, containing treasures as deadly as they are beautiful… Are the de Souzas ready to pay the price to bring them to the surface?

Walkabout by Sarah Grochala

In need of respite, Christina seeks out her Great Aunt Eugenia, and finds herself looking for answers in the Australian outback. Has her aunt really been abducted by aliens? What secrets lie within the Jajutuma crater? And why are Sam Bishop and Jacqui McGee of UNIT on Christina’s trail?

Long Shot by John Dorney

Royal Northcote: highlight of the racing calendar. Lady Christina hopes for a win, as do Sam Bishop and Jacqui McGee, looking into some mysterious deaths. With secret agents and rogue family members on the scene, an assassin closes in on their target. But Lady Christina is at her best when the odds are stacked against her

Director Helen Goldwyn said: “These scripts and these characters are fantastic; really capturing the spirit of the first series but also adding new twists and dimensions. These new stories also do real justice to the multi-layered character of Lady Christina. There’s so much comedy but then there’s also lots of dark, gruesome moments!”

The series also features guest appearances from Warren Brown (Luther, Good Cop), Tracy Wiles (Intrigo: Samaria) and William Gaminara (Silent Witness).

Lady Christina 2 is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition box set or download, exclusively from the Big Finish website, from just £16.99.

Warren Brown being on this in his Praxeus outfit is the first 13th Doctor era crossover, right?

His character is called Sam brown. He was in volume 1 of lady Christina and the unit box sets.
His character on praxeus was called jake Willis so it’s not the same character

Yes, he is playing Sam Bishop, not the same costume from praxeus either.

No news on the next New Earth boxset then? I’m guessing that one didn’t do so well.

Does everything have to be box sets? What happened to just 4 25 minute episodes? Everything has to be four one hour episodes. Or, to be precise, four sets of four hour-long episodes.

Big Finish like their box sets, it’s because it’s cheaper to make boxset rather than individual releases. I prefer the 2 hour 4 part stories more but 1 hour stories are good as well. For this boxset it should be 1 hour stories but for all the classic doctor who releases it should be 2 hour 4 part stories.

It may work out cheaper for them to make boxsets, but it’s more expensive for fans.
I wonder how many boxsets were originally just 4 regular episodes, which were then stretched/padded out to make a boxset (or to make four boxsets)?

      Regards

Well the four 25 to 30 minute episodes was the monthly range, the first doctor adventures etc. This is only 3 one hour adventures, and as it follows the modern big finish era format, of the story being one shot. Also it’s not more expensive for fans as the it’s being sold for 20 pound, while one monthly range would be 15.

Excellent news given up on another series as it will have been 3 years by time of next release come July 2021 but worth the wait just a shame it’s 3 stories this time instead of 4 but better than nothing.
Just waiting for the announcement now of Charlie Pollard vol 3 which is in the works and has been for some time.
Hopefully there do more Jenny,Rose & Donna at some point .
