About Time 4 2nd Edition Volume 2 Seasons 15 to 17

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk or in the USA direct from www.madnorwegian.com

In About Time, the whole of Doctor Who is examined through the lens of the real-world social and political changes as well as ongoing developments in television production that influenced the series in ways big and small over the course of a generation. Armed with these guidebooks, readers will be able to cast their minds back to 1975, 1982, 2005, and other years to best appreciate the series’ content and character.

The Second Edition of About Time 4 is such an upgrade, it’s split into two volumes! Volume 2 greatly expands upon the commentary and essays offered on Doctor Who Seasons 15 to 17: the Graham Williams Era of Doctor Who, including the “Key to Time” season, all starring the iconic Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor. Essays in this volume include: “Is Doctor Who Unsuitable for Adults?”, “Why Does the Doctor’s Age Keep Changing?” and “It’s the Panto Essay, Isn’t It Boys and Girls?”

They normally reduce a bit in places like Forbidden Planet, when they actually come out. Isn’t the increase in price exchange rate driven too – aren’t these books American sourced? I agree that I would much rather have books on series yet to be covered – there hasn’t been a new one for a while, rather than updates to existing releases.

Yes they are USA based, which with exchange rates and considerably higher production costs explains some of the pricing.

I got very excited for a moment until I saw the price. £20 or £25 at a push, but £40? Somebody has a sense of humour. I’m certainly not laughing or buying. A real shame as I have them all so far and consider them definitive.

I know these books are not everyone’s cup of tea.
I’m a fan of the classic series ones at least.

    But HOW MUCH?!?!

    £40 each?!

Wow – £80 for an update to an existing book when there is still a load of series they’ve not touched. Wish the time had gone on something completely new (not that £40 a book would have seen me rushing to buy them even then)
