Doctor Who 5.5″ 8th Doctor Action Figure

“I love humans. Always seeing patterns in things that aren’t there.”

The Eighth Doctor was an effortlessly charming, romantic figure. He was unguarded about his background and equally candid about what the future held for people he came into contact with.

8th-doctor-3750

Includes..

  • Sonic Screwdriver Accessory
  • Karn Chalice Accessory (Cup O’ Karn)
  • Cass’s Bandolier Accessory (removable)

It seems ironic that so much about this open Doctor remains a closed book…His first adventure took place in San Francisco at the turn of the Millennium with Dr Grace Holloway and Chang Lee in an epic battle with the Master.

8th-doctor-box7501

Much later, after many adventures with many companions, the 8th Doctors fate is finally sealed during the Time War, as he attempts to rescue a pilot, Cass, whose ship was crashing into the planet Karn.

When Cass realized that the Doctor was a Time Lord and her enemy, she refused his help and allowed the ship crash.

      October 16th, 2015 - 10:42pm

It’s probably not plausible, but I’d like to see a Closing Time 2-pack with:
Eleventh Doctor in green coat and Stetson (head swappable w/ TOTD & Impossible Set heads)
      Craig Owens (possibly with Alfie/Stormageddon)

So with Stormageddon, it would technically be a 3-pack…

      Yeah, that would be nice.

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 16th, 2015 - 11:06pm

The eleventh doctor and Clara wouldn’t happen because the eleventh figure would be based on a figure that costs £30

A rassilon and omega two pack would be brilliant.

    • DoctorSong2016

      October 18th, 2015 - 9:47am

It only cost £30 because of all the added accessories, it would have been around £15-20 if it didn’t have all the accessories

I think this is my third comment on this post but it’s such a good figure and I can’t wait to get it! So, as the 5″ range is back in full swing, here’s what I want to see…

    – 12th Doctor in Red Crombie and waistcoat
    – 12th Doctor in Last Christmas outfit
    – 12th Doctor in Magician’s Apprentice outfit with Guitar and swapable sunglasses head
    – Modern Zygon
    – Modern Cyberman
    – The Fisher King
    – Prentis with swappable ghost head
    – The Foretold
    – Skovox Blitzer
    – Osgood (Series 9)
    – Kate Stewart (With Old Cyber Head)
    – The Mire (From The Girl Who Died)

Then if they start making larger group packs (like the Journey’s End Set in 2008) I would like…

    – Deep Breath (Vastra, Strax, Jenny and The Half Face Man)
    – Robot of Sherwood (Robin Hood, The Sheriff of Nottingham and two robot nights)
    – Time Heist (The Teller, Psi, Saibra, Ms Delphox)

I agree with you, except the robots of sherwood set and the time heist set. Don’t really like the sound of them. But I’d LOVE a magicians apprentice 12thdoctor doctor

    • Dalekparadigm2

      October 16th, 2015 - 4:32pm

Yeah maybe. I would quite like a Robin Hood 5″ though even if its separate

    • Dalekparadigm2

      October 16th, 2015 - 4:33pm

      And the Teller

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 16th, 2015 - 11:09pm

I think if they made a set they would probably just make a series 8 set with a robo-knight, strax, vastra and the teller as those are the most visually appealing to children but a two pack of robo-knights would be great.

John Hurt doesn’t allow companies to use his younger likeness in figures. For example his character from “Alien”‘s figures either don’t look like him or has a facehugger over his face.

    • Balakin

      October 15th, 2015 - 4:27pm

Aster: that’s weird. Do you know the reason why?

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 15th, 2015 - 5:40pm

Maybe he just doesn’t want people to be playing with little versions of his younger self. Maybe he’s embarrassed about his hairstyle at the time. Who knows.

Look guys, I think everyone should stop complaining and asking for an ‘8th Doctor from Dark Eyes’ or other variants. We’ve essentially got our 5″ figures back. Character have realised the 3.75″ figures weren’t working, and have brought out this collector’s series. We already have 3 variants of the 12th doctor (I’ve got the polka dot shirt one) 2 missy’s, a Clara, curator set and 8th doctor. What more can we ask for? (Except for a bit of a price decrease!)

If people cant do that we might as well just get rid of comments altogether .

What figures would i personally like to see released? Well i think i speak for quite a few figure fans out there when i say i would love to see this: 5 inch action figures that are actually affordable and not going to break the bank!

    Tom Baker figure +
    Paul McGann figure +
    Peter Capaldi figure +
    Michelle Gomez figure +
Jenna Coleman figure + any other future 5 inch “collector” line they bring out all equals a heck of a lot of money.

Cant even really say that the price is all in the detail, as like we all know, for example, Clara is the exact same model for Oswin, just a different colour dress, legs, shoes and no belt.

I remember a simpler time when the 5″ were £6.99. The most i have paid was £14.99 at Asda for The Astronaut (River Song version) back in 2012. And that was a reluctant buy due to the price.

But that was back when they were available in Tesco and Asda, when doctor who figures were available everywhere and I didn’t have to go all the way to Belfast just to have a look at some that weren’t in a b&m three pack. I really miss those days.

Not sure they have the right to do Big Finish figures.

    • TheDarkAndTheLight

      October 14th, 2015 - 8:21pm

‘Real Time’ was co-produced with the BBC, but it was still a Big Finish release.

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 14th, 2015 - 10:35pm

Also it required no new molding

    • Anonymous

      October 16th, 2015 - 9:59am

The Dark Eyes costume was Paul McGann’s personal commission, it’s not owned by Big Finish or the BBC, it’s his own personal property and so he’d be the one you’d have to go to for the rights.

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 16th, 2015 - 2:19pm

Usually the way things work are, even though it was Pauls own clothes or commission, the image is owned by Big Finish or BBC or whoever owns the property so you have to go to that company to get permission.

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 16th, 2015 - 11:17pm

Once again I would like to point out that the real time sixth doctor was a straight repaint, whereas a dark eyes eighth doctor would require almost all new parts and, considering that not every doctor who fan follows the audio adventures, it would most likely not sell well enough to justify all the new sculpting and even though alot of people would say something like ‘I’ll buy it just because I like the costume’ they won’t once they remember that they already have two eighth doctor figures and decide that they don’t want to spend 15 to £20 on another one in a costume they’ve never seen before.

We won’t know until it arrives. There have always been some size discrepancies though. I don’t think Capaldi is too far out when compared to those. For example , the McCoy and Troughton figures are way too big and poor Colin Baker is far too small, Davison is a bit too tall…etc.

    • Anonymous

      October 13th, 2015 - 3:20pm

The 12th Doctor doesn’t look bad until you put it side by side with the 9th Doctor. The actors are the same height in real life, yet 12 is noticeably taller.

    • James Woods

      October 13th, 2015 - 4:38pm

And I do hope that the 8th will have the TV Movie logo/Pertwee logo, as I ordered from FPi and unfortunately had to pay £5 postage, it’s not awful, but I hope we get the nicer timeless logo. Also, I’m presuming they won’t be cheaper at Toys R Us, and it will only be postage I unfortunately payed extra for? You see, my Dad likes to buy the figures for Christmas, but how ever wealthy you are he never likes to jump in, but I know 8 will go much like War and 12 in shirt, so I don’t always feel good after basically ‘forcing’ him to buy it for me – I will pay for it if needs be.

Decided to order this and Clara. The tooling here looks beautiful! Can’t wait to see it in hand! Just wish for a 2013-Present Cyberman, Series 6b 11th Doctor in Green Coat (Swappable Head with Stetson), 2013-Present Zygon and Maybe a two pack with Osgood and Kate Stewart from The Day of The Doctor.

One final note, We are now getting a nice 50th Anniversary Collection of figures! Shame its 2 years later, but all the same and nice collection is growing!
