Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver Blasts into Character Options’ Collection

After months of speculation it is now official, the Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver is to be part of the Character Options’ toy collection.

The first images have been released with confirmation that the eagerly awaited Sonic will be on sale within weeks!

sonic-1

This new toy version is a faithful recreation of the current Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver which debuted in the Series 9 Episode ‘Hell Bent’.

This is the first Sonic to have 4 light modes and four sound FX. The model has been designed as a replica from the Series 9 Prop.

sonic-2

As all fans would know, the Doctor has carried many Sonic Screwdrivers of various designs throughout his lifetimes, ranging from a simple silver coloured tube to more complex illuminated and articulated versions.

sonic-3

This second Sonic for the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, was ‘gifted’ to him by the TARDIS itself after his previous version was lost.

Although we are yet to discover all of the new Sonic’s abilities, like the Doctor himself, it has become ever more complex and mysterious.

sonic-5

This multipurpose tool features numerous settings and can open most locks, detect all manner of deadly rays, read bio-signs and generate Sonic waves of great power.

Alasdair Dewar, Head of Product Development at Character Options commented:

“Since this Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver appeared at the end of series 9, we have been inundated by fan requests to produce a toy replica as part of our toy range. We are therefore very proud to finally be able to reveal it. The Sonic Screwdriver has historically been one of the most sought after toys for fans and collectors alike and we hope they will be as delighted with it as we are.”

The Character Options’ Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver costs just SRP £14.99

For a limited time only, exclusively on the Doctor Who Shop (USA and Canada), fans will receive a Gift with Purchase – one pack of three exclusive trading cards from the Twelfth Doctor’s limited edition set – with the new Sonic Screwdriver, while supplies last.

I know this is definitely the wrong place to ask this, but does anyone know how to button up the coat on the 12th Doctor Big Chef studio figure, I don’t even know if you can, but I’ve seen pictures of people’s figure with his coat done up, so I was wondering if anybody here knew or has actually did it!

There’s a magnet in the coat and if you work with it you can make it look buttoned up and even have the sides with the red showing.

Called my local Toys R Us and before I could even finish the words ’12th Doctor…’ They said they knew what I was talking about, and said that they’d had many callers about it! Sadly there were none there though. I think I’ll just hold on for about a month until they’re easily available and in good stock..!

The quote in green makes it sound like they weren’t gonna do it but they gave in to fan requests and made it because they care about fans.
I’m betting this isn’t the case and they had something to do with the design from the start or the fact it would be in stores as a toy was a big thing in the way it was designed.

I had a little look on the website, and it says that they’re out if stock there as of today. I’m not sure how accurate their site is, so it might be worth a check… (It’s a little far from me, but not too far)

Ordered on Friday and it’s just arrived, Awesome item although I was afraid I’d break it trying to get it out of the plastic, had to take the scissors to the plastic as it was molded to the ends, never had this problem before with any of the sonics :/

the problem is their system isn’t really geared up to high volume reserves on new and popular items , it relies on staff taking the stock of the shelf which someone could easily have bought in between.

the system seems to lag behind with updates as well

for a standard stock items non of this would normally be an issue but i can see that ebay private sellers have been clearing the shelves and selling multiples for double the price, that wont help either

      just hang on in there

the distribution has clearly changed but Missy is listed now so you might get this after a time

your best bet is to get a group together and order from Character you can work out the weight and shipping up to 1.8kg for £29.99, you will not pay the VAT so will get 20% off the costs of the sonic

if you do that to its maximum potential you might end up paying less that we do each!

either that or do it yourself and flog the rest on ebay

You in the USA/AUS are lucky because in the UK we cant do the same as we might get walloped for import duties and costs

      May 18th, 2016 - 2:59pm

Missy is listed? Where? I need her.
Also, all of the places that sell this screwdriver either don’t post to Australia or post is so high, it’s hardly worth it. FP usually don’t post here anyway but even Amazon keeps telling me they can’t post this item
