Troughton looks miserable in this picture. Was this photo taken when he felt overworked and tired during episode 1 of ‘The Mind Robber’. Hence one of the many reasons why he subsequently left.

‘The War Games’ is easily the best story featured in this book. ‘The War Games’ is also one of the all time great Doctor Who stories too!

Has to be the seeds of death for me, ever since the early vhs release have loved the story, one of the all time best. War games is well up there too.

I prefer ‘The Seeds of Death’ compared to ‘The Ice Warriors’. ‘The War Games’ though is an epic. Very well directed, written and acted.

The Ice Warriors is not in this book. War Games is the best in this volume.

I know that. I was only comparing the two Ice Warrior stories from the Troughton era.

Anybody know what photograph of Troughton has been used for this cover? It doesn’t look like him somehow and I can’t recall seeing this photo before (presumably a black and white one).

Don’t think so, from memory, its closest competition is the Hartnell volume with Galaxy 4, Mission to the Unknown, The Myth Makers and The Daleks’ Master Plan, so 21 episodes.
