On November 23rd 2013, Doctor Who turns 50! To commemorate The Doctor’s 50th anniversary, a special range of lifesize cardboard cutouts have been released from the feature length special including the rather scary looking Zygon, past Doctors including 10th Doctor David Tennant and the 8th Doctor Paul McGann. The War Doctor played by none other than legendary British actor John Hurt also makes his debut appearance in cardboard form!

All cutouts are designed to be self supporting and are assembled within seconds. Alternatively it is possible to leave the supports flat and wall mount the standee as you wish. All lifesize standups fold down for easy storage.

The problem with me buying some is the fact that I’ve been trying to keep the 50th from a friend of mine because he hates spoilers, so he may see and a have a sneaky suspicion that something is going on.

I would prefer the DVD to have the 50th anniversary logo, the one with the Hartnell titles background. Just to acknowledge the past a little bit.
It’s much nicer than the other 50th anniversary logos on offer.

I really hope the 50th DVD comes with a slipcase with embossed logo at least. I love DVDs with slipcases. They look much nicer and usually show a special or successful production. I’d also like it to be a new piece of artwork. As nice as the poster is – I’d like them to make a special image just for the DVD like with a boxset.

To prove even further how different we are, I hate it when DVDs have slipcases. Just becasue most of my DVDs don’t have them and I like them all to be the same.

No way is that DVD cover good enough! This is the fiftieth anniversary here and they are releasing a boring normal dull cover like that (not that the poster is bad) it’s just that I wanted 3d effects sparkly shiny things on the cover and to definitely have a slipcase. I am honestly really upset with this boring cover 😥 (again not that the artwork is bad) (just to say I know it’s ‘TBC’ but that sometimes means it’s going to be something along those lines.) 😥

I don’t mind it that much. Also, I don’t really like slipcases, they are just so annoying.

      September 20th, 2013 - 8:37pm

have to say i am really surprised if this is it, these could be just “vanilla” releases though with much bigger box sets with extras later

    • That Random Whovian

      September 20th, 2013 - 8:40pm

Also, it says ‘Artwork TBC’. It’s not the finished version, I wouldn’t imagine.

    • booboo

      September 20th, 2013 - 8:42pm

yes could end up quite different

Would have though adventures in space and time would warrant a separate release personally

      September 20th, 2013 - 8:41pm

Hope so booboo, I think something along the lines of ‘the complete specials’ box set at least with a few added things like art cards or something.
