I remember they had this up for years in the Toys R Us near Luton Airport. Then, when it got moved all the Who-stuff was put onto the shelves.

There, in the shelves, was a little doorway in the middle, and when you walked into the Doctor Who shelves area the doorway would trigger it and play the TARDIS noise.

Ahh good times. Been years since I was in a Toys R Us.

I think the Bristol one was a bit bigger. because it sorta dragged over a little bit where that kids face is.

Oh my god i remember walking into the toys r us in Gateshead when it was my birthday and getting practically everything that was on the shelf, there was tons of stuff…

but i suppose they were the days when there was an endless variety of brand new figures and variants instead of the rubbish that is released these days…

When I went to Bristol’s TRU Few months back they only had a small shelf just the Dr and Dalek Sets Loads and Loads of Cybermats a few Bath Bomb Fizzers. and that’s it 🙁

TRU Hull llast time I went:
      Reduced price temporal blast sets
Series one and two CB micro figures
Wave 1 3.75″ (wave 2 has been and gone)
      Pandorica wave 5″
      1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th Doctor/Dalek sets
SFX Power of the Daleks Dalek looking sad and lonely
One or two series 6 5″ figures
One or two ther toys I didn’t recognise.

All in all, not a very extensive/new collection.

It used to be exactly the same in Edinburgh Toys R Us. There would be sounds heard from the display like “Exterminate”. Now Doctor Who has only been given a tiny aisle with barely any new merchandise.

      I totally agree.

I hope Doctor Who merchandise returns as it used to be. But first we need the fans back. Why did the ratings go down in Series 6 and 7? Capaldi is not going to help fan girls. Hopefully the ratings rise up, fans purchase much more merchandise and the figures return to 5″. Also bring back the coloured packaging! Series 8 could be yellow, series 9 could be blue etc.

Please bring back these kind of displays! 😐

I remember this! They should have done this from the 50th.

      December 11th, 2013 - 9:12pm

YES! A 50th Anniversary display would’ve been brilliant! It could have been like pictured above, with available figures from Series 1-6, the 3.75″ Wave and Classic Single Figures. Also included would be NuWho and Classic DVDs, Exclusive sets, play sets and FC TARDIS! I could go on and on but I will stop there. 😆

i completely agree with the extreme blue tardis!!

this would all be great. 6 and 7 weren’t all that according to a lot of whovians i know… seemed to think matt smith didn’t do that good of a job. but then again he is an idol for girls. it’ll be tricky, but i reckon the fans will come back!

      July 24th, 2013 - 9:52am

      July 24th, 2013 - 10:28am

Doctor who is still incredibly popular, one time in my class about a month ago I was talking with my friend about doctor who then another friend joined in then another until the whole class was talking about doctor who (even the teacher) and they were all saying how they enjoyed the last episode of doctor who. Another thing is that every time I go to my forbidden planet there are always a few people looking at the doctor who isle, same with HMV; this family came in and literaly baught every doctor who DVD there!

      July 24th, 2013 - 10:29am

it was essay i wrote 4 A4 pages on it. we could write about anything we hate and i said when people think matt smith is better than David tennent

If only they had a 1963-2010 one of these there and I was there. From jack harknesses with empty children to cyberleaders with 2 cyberguards and chairs to voyage of the damned figure sets to sontaron stratagim figure sets to angel bobs with the doctor’s jackets and communicators with sea devils, remembrance of the daleks set and various doctors with a tardis (1st, 4th and 7th)
    If they did have this or a 2005-2010 one I would be overjoyed! 😀 😆 🙂 😎 😉 😯
