By his own admission, the Eleventh Doctor is a genius and a madman. He has the same sparking intelligence as his predecessors but it seems to be firing in every direction at once.

He has the curious innocence of a child mixed with the ancient wisdom of the centuries, and leaves everyone around him racing to keep up. He can seem clumsy and chaotic but only a foolish enemy would underestimate him. As always he has a powerful sense of right and wrong and a determination to do what’s right.

Went into Toys R Us just outside of Chester today, and once again they didn’t have these new sets in. They seemed to have quite a few of the last wave, with one or two of the first thrown in as well. When I asked after them at the customer service desk, they recommended ordering them direct from the BBC(!)

Is it just me or is 90% of who merchandise this year limited in some way? Almost everything that has been released this year has been hard to get hold of, then they go for extreme prices on eBay! We never usually get rare DVDS, but this year every other dr who DVD has been a limited edition one, and although this can be good sometimes, it puts the prices up when they don’t need to!

Same with these figures, making them limited edition (when really, why cant they just be a standard release?) will cause the prices to explode and (continued…)

the only people who will be relaxing are the scalpers who are practically handed these opportunity’s!

Now although i actually got a couple of rare 3.75″ daleks from a shop the other day, i didn’t put them up for stupid prices, i just started the bidding off at 99p. I don’t see a problem if you start it off at less than a tenna, but it’s the ones that put stupid prices up at really bugs me.

  • A New Dalek Paradigm

    October 30th, 2013 - 7:15pm

My 11th set finally arrived today wow! The new paint job on the Strategist is a vast improvement. None of the pictures I’ve seen on-line do it enough justice (it’s definitely a much darker blue). I think they should have made the hemispheres more a shade of silver though instead of keeping them grey but it’s a minor issue. I can’t help but think that if the Paradigm had looked like this from the start in Victory there wouldn’t have been such a backlash against them.

I really hope we don’t have to wait too long for a 5″ metallic Drone.

Milton Keynes had one of these in stock, which I was tempted to get. Then yesterday saw one go on ebay for £39.99! Easy money, shame as the person buying it probably never realised if you look around they are in TRU

its happening everywhere, people buying them up and making money out of those less fortunate who’s toys r us dont have them or they dont live near one

someone one here was openly bragging about being a scalper a couple of days ago then called ME pathetic for deleting their comment!

    • RexisnotyourDoctor

      October 30th, 2013 - 2:02pm

Is there some way of complaining to Character or Toys R Us about this? I was lucky enough to get the three I wanted, but I know there are a lot of bitterly disappointed, *dedicated* collectors out there and I think it’s deplorable the way CO and TRU have handled this last release. As with the 3.75 variants, they’ve effectvely put availability in the hands of the scalpers. There are times I really hate Ebay.

      Petition, maybe?

    • booboo

      October 30th, 2013 - 2:05pm

your 1st port of call should be toys r us probably as the delivery requirement (possible split delivery) and stock allocation are probably down to them.

    • RexisnotyourDoctor

      October 30th, 2013 - 2:17pm

The right hand doesn’t seem to know what the left hand’s doing where TRU are concerned. I know they have thousands of products to shift , but I bet they’ve had enough enquiries and complaints up and down the country over the last week for someone in management to realise they’ve seriously dropped the ball on this one.

Big companies hate bad PR, and big American companies hate it even more. They should have been consistent with the ‘2 per customer’ rule if nothing else.

    • booboo

      October 30th, 2013 - 2:20pm

not sure why they have not done that with this wave

      October 30th, 2013 - 2:24pm

Really?? The one in the 3.75 range? I thought that was supposed to be easily available.

      October 30th, 2013 - 7:54pm

Just noticed on the TRU site that even though the new sets are still out of stock the “2 per customer” rule is back. That should hopefully make them easier to get hold of.

Just had a stroke of incredible luck! Went to TRU at Deepdale in Preston. They have a reasonably good sized Doctor Who section but none of the newly released Dr/Dalek figures were out on display.

Spoke to a staff member and he dissapeared into the back, only to return with a box. “Last one!” he said. Thusly, I was able to bag Dr’s 1, 3, 4, 8 and 11. I’m chuffed to bits!!

1st doctor from the reign of terror
    2nd doctor (no coat)
3rd doctor from the sea devils (with sword accessory)
4th doctor from the deadly assassin
5th doctor from the caves of androzani (regeneration)
6th doctor from the 2 doctors (no coat)
7th doctor with solom head and hat
    8th (without coat)
    9th doctor (blue shirt)
10th doctor (no coat with end of time head but no scars)
11th doctor from the 50th anniversary

The Classic figures are not affected by the scale change, only the New Series figures. I wouldn’t mind seeing a 3.75 inch 12 Doctors set in the future, though. Especially with:
      *1st Doctor (Standard costume)
      *2nd Doctor (Standard costume)
      *3rd Doctor (The Three Doctors)
      *4th Doctor (Pyramids of Mars)
      *5th Doctor (Season 19-20)
*6th Doctor (Trial of a Time Lord: Mindwarp)
      *7th Doctor (The TV Movie)
      *8th Doctor (The TV Movie)
      *9th Doctor (Green jumper)
      *10th Doctor (Brown suit)
*11th Doctor (Series 6-7a, white shirt/blue bow tie)

    Ood worker
    Queen Victoria
    Revised Dalek Sec

    Jenny
    Madame Vastra
    Doctor in longcoat
    Headless Monk

I doubt CO will even consider these anymore, but seeing as the RTD era is now seen as part of the classic series – which is continuing in 5″, although limited in new releases – its possible

PS: A revised Dalek Sec is set to be released in a revised “diamond” edition of the 2006 Doomsday figure set, but only in the USA for the foreseeable future.

The only hope for a relase of the Paternoster Gang is in the new 3.75 inch scale, I’m afraid. There were plans for a Doctor figure from The Snowmen, but I’m not sure what level of production they’re in. However, if they do make a Doctor from The Snowmen, there is a tiny sliver of hope for a 5 inch Clara and Dr. Simion. I guess we’ll have to see.

I wouldn’t mind having Eccleston and Tennant join the Classic range, that would mean we’d get missed stuff from their era. However, we do need more Hartnell and Troughton era figures (Susan, Ian, Barbara, Voord, Sensorites, Jamie, Zoe, Yeti, and Krotons, we need you!), though I can’t understand why we need more Pertwee figures right away after he’s had two companions and a whole slew of monsters.

I dont think that would have worked if they chose to do aswin it woud technically jut be another bronze dalek to the two others that are in thi wave and doing an asylum dalek would probably not fit into the doctor time line a all the sets are baed around the daleks that the doctor faced in his eleven incarnations which for the eleventh wa the paradgm.
