Doctor Stu
May 3rd, 2022 - 12:07pmAm I just really weird or does anybody else see series 1 of new who as the ‘red series’ because of the dvd covers? And series 2, the blue series, series 3 the green and series 4 the purple? Each colour just seems to suit the whole vibe of their respective series’s.
Especially the reds for the Dalek episodes in series 1, the blues for the cyberman two parter, greens for the scarecrows and blink. Purple for partners in crime, sontaran two parter, vashta nerada.
Maybe I’m just very strange and I see things in colours XD

May 3rd, 2022 - 12:42pmYep, it was all down to the marketing and advertising.
We just grew up to associate those colours with those characters.
It’s very clever really.

May 1st, 2022 - 6:39pmDid anything ever come of that proposed Doctor Who partwork magazine that would have seen the Yarget novels re-realsed I Hardba k once a fortnight to build the collection up? It was mooted a year or so ago but I never heard anything more

Doctor Stu
April 28th, 2022 - 4:32pmI’m doing a rewatch of the whole of new who (almost) and I’m up to end of the world and was just thinking how even though it’s a really sweet moment, Rose calling her Mom doesn’t make much sense. The phone call happens about half an hour after the events of episode 1 where Jackie is nearly killed while shopping.
The phone call can only have patched her through into the next day as it’s not morning anymore (and is episode 4 the doctor thinks it’s only about 12 hours since they left) but Jackie’s just emptying the washing machine chatting casually. Does she not perhaps want to mention that last night she was nearly murdered by mannequins. Even if Rose regularly stays away for a couple of nights round friends it can only be two or three days tops since that incident. You’d think it would be the first thing on her mind.
Auton
April 28th, 2022 - 5:07pmI watched the end of the world recently and I interpreted the scene of rose phoning Jackie sometime before the events of Rose
scotel
April 29th, 2022 - 12:12amThe missing posters say she was last seen on the 6th of March 2005 (a Sunday) and Jackie says that its Wednesday when she gets the phone call.
It’s certainly an odd one.
Doctor Stu
April 29th, 2022 - 12:15amAh that would make perfect sense. Another weird thing about the end of the world is nearly everyone dying at the end when the sun filters fail. But then after the sun explodes, everyone flies off in their perfectly heat proof spaceships anyway that can resist the intense atmosphere outside. So I’m guessing instead of waiting there on platform one to die during all the chaos, most of them could have just fled off the the docking hangar and flew off in their ships instead
It seems this time on my rewatches I’m at the ‘pick the episodes apart’ phase XD

April 26th, 2022 - 11:04pmSo LEGEND OF THE SEA DEVILS has got a digital download to buy on Amazon Prime.

May 6th, 2022 - 10:22pmI’d noticed that as well. It is available on Amazon in America but not yet the UK. It may be a rights issue but is more likely an oversight.

April 25th, 2022 - 9:25pmAnother genuine question: is the Dr Who hunt for gallifrey Cluedo the same game as the American Dr Who Clue game?

April 30th, 2022 - 10:12amMJS It was available from Amazon a few weeks. Ago but from a secondary seller… must have been sold since. Ironically the GN for stories printed between 1989 and 1996 are notoriously for which one is readily available. Managed to complete it with Age of Chaos last year…

April 23rd, 2022 - 7:08pmErm, in the “A Decade of Dorian Gray” video Big Finish released today, Alex Vlahos seemed to mention an upcoming crossover between Dorian Gray and the War Master.
I’m presuming that this is to be the thing for War Master 8 but it could be for something else also – just wanted to put something on here about it…
the Ergon
April 21st, 2022 - 10:24amAnother week, another month and still no sign of anything eaglemoss. Regular or Special. No more preorders from me until things start flowing again. I cant believe they haven,t even got Issue 207 in their shop. When do they arrive its dribs and drabs.
Doctor Stu
April 21st, 2022 - 12:21pmI was missing over 10 issues, I’ve completely lost count, they said they’d fix it and I’m still waiting for stuff that people got in October. No idea what’s going on with them. I may as well cancel the subscription and just buy them online. Especially as being a bonus subscriber isn’t anything that necessarily means anything anymore seeing as everything can be purchased from the shop.
The ergon
April 21st, 2022 - 2:02pmIve never looked back stu. Frees up money for more reliable purchases. Even FPs quicker shipments have stalled. The incentive of Rare Dalek has worn thin with some and have just cancelled anyway.
KORSAIR
April 22nd, 2022 - 7:50pmThey’re still taking our money though, I’m honestly getting fed up with it.
the Ergon
April 22nd, 2022 - 9:53pmDepends how much you value those ‘Rare’ Daleks Korsair so thats up to you. They used to be every 10 Issues didn,t they?. To be fair though even non subscribers aren,t gaining anything of late, as there has been absolutely nothing updated in the shop for months, and now FP have gone all quiet. We are all in the same boat. Although i had a little glimmer of hope from them earlier suggesting there may be bulk items coming all at once with a replacement ive been asking for, for weeks. So if thats true surely something must be incoming for them and hopefully subscribers very soon.

April 23rd, 2022 - 1:50pmEaglemoss and Big Chief are two of the worst places to buy merchandise in my opinion. It’s bad enough the delay on pre-orders but neither seem to have any communication with their customers, Big Chief I think being the worst. I won’t be pre-ordering from either company in the future.
The ergon
April 23rd, 2022 - 2:54pmSame here jay. I only preordered from FP because i was getting items in earlier. Their london store seems to stock thiings first in fairly decent quantities. Im expecting to see karvanista, movellan and swarm images from someones phone anytime soon. Like coleman i i only preorder from big chief for those incentives but they will probably end up on kitbash corner eventually.
Jay
April 27th, 2022 - 4:26pmI think you are right ergon! As you say it will free up money for other DW purchases which are more reliable.

April 17th, 2022 - 8:49pmI have a couple of questions concerning Sony’s role in Doctor Who going forward and a certain feature about early 5inch Dalek figures.
I know that with RTD’S return to the show and Bad Wolf taking over production I was wondering what kind of sway Bad Wolf’s new owner may have on the future? Could we see in increase in budget or even Sony dictating certain changes?
I was also wondering about few Dalek figures from around the end of the 2010’s, I noticed that the red Supreme Dalek, Dalek Progenitor Guardian and Dalek Ironside all have silver detailing on their light pieces. I was wondering how difficult it would have been to produce these and if said difficulty might have been the main contributor as to why we don’t see them on modern Dalek figures any more.
…
April 17th, 2022 - 8:58pmDoctor who is still owned by the BBC. Sony own bad wolf now but the BBC still owns the rights to doctor who.
Doctor Stu
April 18th, 2022 - 12:08amThe governments trying to destroy the BBC and the license fee is being frozen for a couple of years so I’m predicting an expensive acquisition of doctor who by Sony. That’ll give the bbc a cash injection and perhaps allow them a percentage cut in a new, expensively made, global, marvel type doctor who. So it’s now a sony made and ran show that’s technically still the BBC’s.
Which I really don’t want. I just want doctor who on the bbc, written by RTD, as our quirky little show we’re proud of (or were previously proud of when it was wining countless acoladles in the 2005 – 2012 glory years) not some flogged to death marvel style conveyor belt of mediocracy
…
April 18th, 2022 - 1:52amBBC won’t relinquish control of doctor who. If they did, and it ended up on a pay channel other than BBC one I would stop watching.
Rex Farrel
April 18th, 2022 - 3:46amRTD wants to work with his old producing team, who now run Bad Wolf, so BBC Studios has hired Bad Wolf to coproduce the show. It just means that instead of hiring several people separately, and putting them on the BBC payroll, they pay a lump sum to Bad Wolf Ltd (or whatever their trading name is) and if there’s money left over it goes to Sony as profit. It’s not a big deal really, it’s little different to a bit of outsourcing and the same model they use with Bocpix and Mrs Brown’s Boys. The only potential issue I can see is that Sony might want them to drop Who at some point if they have a more profitable project of their own that demands Julie Gardner and co produce it.

April 17th, 2022 - 5:51pmDoes anyone know if DWM have any plans to release any SE’s from their “Doctor Who Companion” line (formally the companion guide). The last issue of this was Feb 2020 rounding off Series 8. I used to love these titles, the Series 1 title in 2005 was the first dw magazine I ever got! I just wondered if they had been officially cancelled/ replaced or if ppl suspect they might come back?…
MIKK89
April 17th, 2022 - 8:49pmThese quickly got replaced by the ‘Yearbook’, starting from 2014, (The Last Companions the released covered The 11th Doctor Eras – 2 issues covering series 5, 3 covering series 6, 2 covering series 7 and 1 for the 50th Anniversary Year for 8 total volumes) since 2014 the SEs tend to do a brief Episode guide as part of the Yearbooks (Series 8 onwards) but it was at this point Panini were about to help Hachette Partworks with their Complete History range
Haza14
April 18th, 2022 - 11:08amYes they were replaced by the yearbooks and Complete History set of books in 2014. But in 2019-2020 they resumed with Peter Capaldi’s first season as the history books had finished. I also have the question of whether they will continue (I’d really like them to). But 2 years is a long time. Might have been because of Covid that they have taken a pause, but I have no idea sadly.

April 13th, 2022 - 10:02pmBooboo. I respect your decision to shut down mine and colemans conversations if its off course but you did say we could talk about anything as as long as it was confined to there and didn,t clog up the main comments section. I dont see how it affects other conversations. Still you are the mediator. Perhaps you could just delete all the comments from there and leave it for our collection pictures and conversations on that only.
booboo
April 14th, 2022 - 9:08amThere were several people involved in conversations before some of which have not posted anywhere on the site since this change and it seems unfair to sever off the collection pages section from the comments feed for just 2 people to be hoenst.
the Ergon
April 14th, 2022 - 10:15amWell i wasn,t aware it affected other conversations breaking through to talk about their collections. I didn,t realise it was just comment on one thing and leave it there, but agree it does tend to go on and veer from collections which i understand is one of the reasons you stepped in.
It might be better if, as i said if you could just delete all my comments and disable the ‘reply’ permanently to give others a chance. I could just use it to put pictures on my collections when i get permission from you.

April 14th, 2022 - 10:41amtalking about the collections is fine, but we can only remove the reply button site wide.

April 13th, 2022 - 2:46pmI didn’t like the 50th moffat adaption. Way too goofy in parts, over the top, tried to cram ten and River relationship into it, silly and he did Ten really out of character. At one point he even had ten violently slam eleven up against a wall. Sorry but no.

Although not specifically Who related I recommend UK viewers watch ‘Scouting for Toys’ on Yesterday.
Interesting from a collector’s point of view. 1st episode featured Star Wars figures and 2nd was Matchbox cars.
Both are on UK TV catch-up with episodes going out on Thursday’s at 8pm.
