apparently Clara was a 1st pass painted sculpt just for the toy fair so would explain why she looks a bit off to some (although she looked much better there than in the pics)

I think from your images she looks fab – I just think it’s the Tennant-like cocked eyebrow that is making it look a bit odd. xD

shops do run out of these you know and they move on to the next wave with some running changes if appropriate – they market what sells

they also cater for worldwide demand not just UK which people seem to forget

Yeah I live in the US and was impossible to get other sonics but when character made this line I was really happy cause I was able to get the past sonics from classic who :D.

The Matt Smith Time Squad figure seems to be the only finalized looking new one of the illustration of all 10 figures. Capaldi and Coleman have drawn on faces, Matt doesn’t…

Do you think that the Capaldi and Coleman figures are early prototypes, and the image of Smith could be a Time Squad design from way back before the original run got cancelled? It looks to me like that was a Series 5 design where they have digitally enhanced the caot to be purple rather than brown.

could be, there was some series 5 stuff planned

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 21st, 2015 - 10:48pm

The general design of it just looks so 2010 to me – like the inaccurate fringe that covers his forehead (well… inaccurate most the time. It was like that sometimes during Series 5… but that’s the same that happened with the original 11th Doctor figure!)

I assume there wasn’t a physical version on show… so it could be a digitally enhanced version of an originally Series 5 11th Doctor?

Maybe they should take a leaf out of Titan’s book and release a wave of all the Doctor’s, then release some monsters – rather than re-releasing these seriously out-of-date Series 4 villains.

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 10:54pm

Is anything Doctor Who out of date? would you say the same if there was a sea devil or draconian in the mix?

you have to remember there are new buyers and new markets that were not around 3 years ago, what’s old to us is new to them

also i doubt they would invest in 10 new figures straight off

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 21st, 2015 - 10:57pm

True, true – I retract my statement.

Though, would be nice to see some aliens from newer series, rather than Tennant’s (as Tennant isn’t included in the line-up) of course, this probably isn’t the final line-up and they’re probably sitting in fro some figures that haven’t been finalized yet, but still.

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 10:58pm

could well be, if they get orders (which is what the show is all about)

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:03pm

It’s interesting that they decided to bring the Squad back. I wonder what made them think of updating it. Maybe they considered it every year but nothing ever happened. Because it seems very… Out if the blue to me.

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:04pm

Probably to fill a pocket money gap now CB has gone but yes i was surprised as well, i always liked them

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:11pm

I never collected them. I saw them around a lot but never ever picked them up. I’m not really a massive fan of the look of them (not 100% sure what it is I don’t like, mind…) but I do like it when they bring back old products that haven’t been seen in a while.

Tell you want I’m still hoping someone will produce – you know how there is a massive market at the moment for retro-styled 3.75 figures? They have recently done a load for Back to the Future, Alien, Firefly – I would love to see that for Doctor Who. Brand new version of the Dapol style figures. You could have it for the Doctors that were released in the old style, and the modern ones that weren’t too. I think that, as there is a clear market for these 80s-style figures, that Doctor Who ones would sell like hot-cakes.

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:16pm

I think most of the demand would be in the USA which is a very different market to here.

Some Doctor Who brands are far far bigger sellers in the states than here, usually the more quirky or retro items.

I dont know who you would get to go down that route

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:25pm

I just think it would be nice, especially as the market is out there. It would be a risk, that’s true, but could turn out to be a worthy one.

Then again, they tried retro figures with Biff Bang Pow and, well… look how they ended.

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 11:27pm

not entirely sure what happened there, they has lots more planned and did a tonne of other Doctor Who stuff – all seemed rather abrupt to me

Also, the omission of the stands is strange after 3 Waves. I don’t think they could stand on their own on the playsets (because they are freakin cardboard and it gets wavy a bit) but I hope I’m wrong.

They are saying you will have pay for stands yourself so basically were still paying the same price+stand now if this is true I refuse to buy the figures no point having them if they won’t stay up their just trying get more money from people and I ain’t buying it! Have you not noticed you are getting really great accessories with some of these figures and there is more to them?

What would you prefer a back back with the Caretaker 12th the Doctor or a stand? the money only goes so far..

      Your actually getting better value

Personally i have always felt the stand detracted from the product and was to big and prominent in the packaging

I would still buy them though as they are always getting lost so a pack of 10 or 5 say to buy separately would be appreciated

It’s a shame the “Caretaker” Doctor hasn’t had his jumper properly sculpted; I think that with a few dots of white paint that would have looked good. There’s a nice ‘Time Heist’ variant just waiting to be produced; even if the shirt isn’t quite navy enough.

What’s annoying is te fact they bothered to remove the cardigan and have him in just his shirt but didn’t bother to give his actual jumper and it’s not as if it would be a waste because they could make a listen version, I can’t wait for the ROS variant as its my favourite version of his costume
