The Doctor Who Figurine Collection Magazine Special 1

Doctor Who Figurine Collection magazine Special #1: The Tardis

Every issue comes with a richly illustrated collector’s guide that provides all the essential information about your figurine and is filled with official photography from the BBC Archives.

Each figurine in the collection is sculpted with incredible care and attention to detail. The process begins by collecting exclusive reference material from the Doctor Who archives, which is then sent to the sculptor who produces a 3D digital sculpt.

This incredibly detailed file allows the sculptor to include even the slightest detail down to the wrinkles in Davros’s face or the buttons on the Doctor’s shirt.

Every figurine is in perfect 1:21 scale, with measurements taken from the original props and the BBC’s archives to make sure that the height relationship of all the characters is correct.

This item can be ordered individually from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk

This arrived today along with the Tenth Doctor and Ice Warrior, they’re fantastic! No Emperor Dalek though due to manufacturing delays.

Some got it yesterday, some today. I still have not got it and really wanted to know today so I knew whether the specials had been properly registered on my subscription. I was in WHS holding the magazine at 2.30pm, I put it down for 30 seconds and it was gone.

Can I just ask why everyone is talking about subscriber numbers, I subscribed and got a number and thought nothing of it, still have it on an email though, do you have to enter it somewhere or something?

You need it to activate the online archive (if you want to use it).

It’s just a digital copy of the magazine and you’ll get the hard copy anyway so I don’t really see the appeal myself.

Not seen this anywhere today so might well be delayed. That means we’ll be getting the special and the regular issue next week.

Q which issues have subscribers received to date (6 or 7)? Also what subscriber gifts?
Assumption – issue 6 due in the shops this week.

Reason for asking – subscribed to the test set (received damaged 2&3 only).
Was assured my subscription was transfered to the national release, had first payment taken (Sept) for issues 6&7. Had to resort to making a ‘back-issue’ payment for issues 2,3,4,5.
So far haven’t received anything, only emails*
Yes, I’ve emailed and phoned them.
*they don’t do ‘letters’ anymore because emails are more efficient

Also, had problems trying to activate my subscription through teh official website but keep getting an ‘invalid subscriber number’ message. Got in touch (by email) still waiting on a reply.

anyone else have problems registering/activating their subscription?
is there some trick/quirk to the website?

6-7 are due soon but i dont think anyone has had them yet

my subscription has been mucked up from the start

Bow Tie Wearing Stranger, I know how you feel.
I subscribed back in Feb when the test releases were made and so far have received nothing bar the “yes your account is activated” email. No deliveries as yet. I keep emailing once a fortnight and get the same reply each time. “oh sorry something has gone wrong we’ll get them sent out to you today.”

      I’m still waiting for issue 1 🙁

    • KORSAIR

      November 5th, 2013 - 3:15pm

For Eaglemoss to be going for so long you would think all this would be plain sailing for them. Even though I’ve had no problems myself (fingers crossed) it’s clear that there are quite a few disappointed people out there who are having payments taken from them but getting zero all in return and as for their website it’s totally hopeless. I wonder are subscribers to their other ranges Star Trek ships, Batmobilia etc having the same type of problems?

    • booboo

      November 5th, 2013 - 3:18pm

Luke subscribed to the star trek ships, no problems whatsoever

my problems seem to stem from the test issues, one thing gets sorted but something else goes wrong

    • KORSAIR

      November 5th, 2013 - 3:21pm

This could all just be teething problems and could/should hopefully be sorted out before too long, I really feel it for anyone who’s not getting what they’re due.

    • Anonymous

      November 6th, 2013 - 4:34pm

The problem is they have teething problems on every single one of their magazines and it all seems to lead back to their distributor.

How long till we get our first Dalek from subscription anyway ?

    • Anonymous

      November 4th, 2013 - 1:34pm

Issue 10 is the first one, then 20, then 30, then the stand with 40, then 50, 60, 70 and finally 80.

Then we’ll need to see what they are doing after that.

Receive a ‘first newsletter’ over the weekend. Quoting the next issues as being 6 & 7.

emails / subscription all seem very erratic.

NB anyone else (subscribers) having problems activiating their subscription through the official website? I keep getting an ‘invalid subscription number’ message very time I’ve tried (using either my ‘national release’subscription number and the previous ‘test’ release one).
contacted dbfactory – still no response.

Trenzalore, this is not a regular issue. These tend to sit out until they sell out or until the next one comes out (which will be about ten weeks after this not two) so it will be long gone by then/

Because it is considerably larger than the rest of the figures (and so a lot more metallic resin is needed to make it).

    • Cpl Hicks

      November 2nd, 2013 - 12:20pm

…and why is only £6.84 on Forbidden Planet????

    • Anonymous

      November 2nd, 2013 - 12:51pm

Because they’ve put the wrong price up, they charge that price for all the regular issues so I’d presume you’ll find the price suddenly changes nearer to release.

Yes, this will be a standalone issue separate from the main range. If you have “subscribed” through your newsagents make sure you tell them it is coming out and they should be able to get you a copy (which will cost £15.99, direct subscribers will get a discount, probably only a pound less though).

Look forward to seeing the replies, when they come and if they differ. I hope one of them was about the possibility of doing spaceships/stations, vehicles in this collection? or if not a possible idea for a future Doctor Who Collection, as that forum did not ask/mention about this, and I know this suggestion is popular with a number of people.

This site has done a Q and A with the editor and reveals lots of new details. I hope that when he says we are concentrating on new who he means up to issue 80 only as I would hate to have a load of non essential new who characters and monsters at the expense of better classic series stuff.
