It’s really distracting how photoshopped Capaldi’s head is here!

No that’s issue 89. 90 will be Appendices like shada shalka and other loose odds and ends

Is it only me who hated knock, knock? It was advertised as the one to watch when series 10 was airing and everyone seemed to be hyped but I thought it was just awful. Tried far too hard to be scary and so as a result wasn’t scary at all, every single actor was cringy, they turned the Doctor into a buffoon and David Suchet wasn’t exactly ground breaking.

Same, honestly the more I watch season 10, the more I start to dislike it. Knock knock in my opinion was failed attempt at horror with cringe scenes and bad written dialogue.

Most of Moffatt era episodes are ruined by bad acting and cringy dialogue. Even if most of the episode is good. Asylum of the Daleks is the prime example with a great 90% of an episode and then the cringe beyond cringe ‘Doctor who?’ Moment at the end. And then there’s dark water with the cringe acting and over the top dialogue given to Doctor Chang to ‘act’ out.

Good to see them doing theee stories in a book, the recent series 9 ones have been very bare I think… haven’t enjoyed them but this looks like it’s some meat on it!

My favourite story in this book is the hugely underrated ‘Smile’.

Smile would be great with better acting and a few pacing changes. The scene where Bill’s watching the human history footage and starts to cry is just really, really cringey

Smile is good and looks great – with some excellent dialogue between the Doctor and Bill as they get to know each other – but the basic plot premise (guardian/control robots or beings that were just doing their job only a change of surrounding context meant them doing that became a threat to humans) had been done a good few times by this point (see the Siren in Curse of the Black Spot, or the Handbots in The Girl Who Waited).

But a good episode of a very strong season, IMHO.
