BBC Books is delighted to announce seven new titles in the Doctor Who Target range, all publishing on 11th March 2021, each with newly commissioned cover artwork by Anthony Dry.
For Doctor Who fans, the range of novelisations published by Target Books in the 1970s and 1980s hold a special place. There was a novel published for almost every Doctor Who serial between 1963 and 1989, with a very few (five, actually) notable exceptions.Since 2012, BBC Books has been successfully reissuing these classic paperbacks and expanding the Target range to include all-new novelisations of modern-era Doctor Who episodes.
These latest novelisations, almost all by the original writers of theTV episodes, will help Target fans finally complete their classic-era collection, and take the Target range into its next incarnation.
They include the long-awaited Target editions of Eric Saward’s Resurrection of the Daleks and Revelation of the Daleks; The Pirate Planet by James Goss which is based on the scripts by Douglas Adams;as well as a reissue of Gary Russell’s novelisation of The TV Movie starring Paul McGann.
To complete the set are three new-era novelisations: The Crimson Horror by Mark Gatiss, Dale kby Robert Shearman, and The Witchfinders by Joy Wilkinson.
The Witchfinders is the first Thirteenth Doctor adventure to be published on the Target list, and the first to carry the new-look Target-branding, with the current Doctor Whologo, that will appear on all future Target releases

Totally gobsmacked. Last time I looked my account said all stock should be due in 22nd April.

March 29th, 2021 - 5:50pmJust a quick question Booboo, FPs only sent one book so far out of seven. But I’ve noticed theyve charged me for one book plus £5.50 p&p which is postage for all seven.
As they send more books (maybe separately) will they be charging more post and packing?

I think its becoming clear some authors are sending the plates in in batches rather than all at once

Just noticed my card runs out end of this month.
Shouldn’t have had problems because it was originally to be released the 12th March, but then it changed to 22nd March, most of my order still hasn’t been charged yet. so I don’t know what date they’ll actually be shipped.

I mean when the signed stickers were on books like the original Revelation of the Daleks or other hardbacks, they were easily removed but I know that the Target books are more papery on the cover of course, honestly thinking of buying another copy of Crimson Horror or Dalek otherwise

March 24th, 2021 - 1:44pmWARNING!!!! I’ve received the other books from FP. The sticker remove east but also lift some of the print. This is noticeable on Crimson Horror and Dalek. The sticker was on Ada. It also lifts some of the gold on the logos.
I wish they’d just NOT put stickers on

March 17th, 2021 - 10:27pmI bought Dalek, TV Movie and Witchfinders. I enjoyed TV Movie and I am on reading Dalek. The TV movie was a good book, a nice little nod to Ace at the beginning. the TV movie has a special place in my heart, it was my first Doctor Who story I saw on TV in 96. It started my love of Who. here to more Target books.

March 13th, 2021 - 10:01pmJust finished dalek and have to admit it was a bit of a disappointment. There’s lots of new material but its all backstories for certain characters which is fine but none of of it adds anything to the story. The dalek itself doesn’t really work on the page either. It’s not a bad book, it’s well written but it doesn’t really do the original story justice.

March 12th, 2021 - 12:02pmNow read pirate, resurrection, revelation and have started the tv movie. Pirate was fun. Resurrection is still poor, revelation is still flawed but still decent and the movie is good so far. Lots of little differences from the original novel, including mention of the doctor visiting an old friend at her a charitable earth organisation. Hopefully I’ll keep up the one a day rate!

I mean I understand it can be postal issues etc. but it seems strange if the reports of them sending out the Pirate Planet are accurate, yet they’ve had no contact about the newer Target books

As Booboo said, they’ll come eventually. I suspect there waiting for the signed book plates.

They look stunning, in the flesh. The Current Logo looks famtastic , stacked in foil effect. much better than online images can show.
I wonder if Terror of the Autons, would have been released, if these had come out last year as planned. Or any Master/Missy story.

January 15th, 2021 - 9:26amI really like the new logo as a banner (as on the CD release above), but I find the stacked look used on the novel really ugly. It’s clearly not been designed to be used that way, and just looks hacked and unprofessional. It looks beautiful on Big Finish releases.
